Because there's days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one home that's for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )
_____________________________________________________________________________________________
You know what? I'm fed up of being in the city this week - so let's head up north -
1st stop Mont Tremblant - ( named by the Algonquins - " trembling mountain " )
Bobby Kennedy and Ethel met on this mountain way back in the day.
This is first and foremost known for it's ski resorts - however it's a pretty spectacular place in the summer too.
It used to be a winter wonderland for the International jet set - and although it's still very costly to live there ( as you can see from the first house I'm showing - there are still affordable condos to be had )
Here's what the N.Y Times has to say
TUCKED into the Laurentian Mountains less than 80 miles north ofMontreal, Mont Tremblant is a stunning Quebec ski town perched at the southern tip of Lake Tremblant. It somehow manages to blend the kitsch of a Disney-like ski resort, the elegance of a small cosmopolitan city and the serenity of fir-and-pine-covered mountains. Isabella and Brian Allendorfer make the 15-hour drive from Chicago with their two children, ages 5 and 3, at least four times a year. The couple bought a three-bedroom, ski-in, ski-out property just minutes from the pedestrian village for 419,000 Canadian dollars last July.
“We couldn’t touch anything like that in the U.S.,” Mrs. Allendorfer said.
Ok everyone, let's go! It's about an hour from Montreal -
You can have this one for 1,950,000.
Ok - stunning beyond belief definitely - but if you can't afford to buy your own country basically -
Here's a more affordable place at 315,000. - just a few photos - but I think it's so charming
3 bedroom - 3 bath - close to ski and golf resorts
AND IF YOU WANT TO COME DOWN EVEN LOWER 129,000 CAN GET YOU THIS ADORABLE CONDO - MINUTES FROM THE SKI TRAILS
THEY EVEN MANAGED TO SQUEEZE A BEDSIZED LOFT IN THERE ( FOR OVERNIGHT GUESTS? )
MONTREAL IS LOADED WITH EUROPEAN CHARM ( DID YOU KNOW WE'RE CONSIDERED THE EUROPEAN CITY OF NORTH AMERICA ? )
BUT MONT TREMBLANT COULD BE A VILLAGE RIGHT OUT OF SWITZERLAND - TAKE A PEAK AT THESE
OK OK - DON'T WANNA LIVE THERE BUT WOULD LIKE TO SPEND SOME TIME IN MONT TREMBLANT TO SEE WHAT ALL THE HYPE IS ABOUT? YOU CAN CLICK HERE - IT'S A PRETTY MAGICAL PLACE....................

Gorgeous town...makes me want to buy a watch & eat some chocolate. Love the first property but just mowing the grass would be a full time job! The second house is darling and reminds me of our house in Charlottesville, Virginia.
ReplyDeleteWow- What a sweet place to visit! I LOVE that first place-amazing! The second home is charming on a more rustic note- Have a great day- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI'll take the first place... want to lend me $1.5 million?
ReplyDeleteToo much lawn to mow with the first one, lol! Love the gazebo though!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I'd love to have a place out in the country like that, but I married a city boy...
Fifteen hours from Chicago? I could probably knock an hour off that due to my lead foot. Could be an awesome weekend adventure. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou would absolutely love it Cheryl - scout's honor - it's really breathtaking.............
DeleteWould be a great wknd - winter OR summer
Hugs,
Suzan
Hey Suzan,
ReplyDeleteWhy do I do this to myself? Why do I intentionally drop by your place every Wednesday, when I know I'll be homesick for half the week!! Is this place for real??? My heart skipped a beat at the shot with the pretty tiled roofs!! I went on the link and LOST it!! Definitely have to hike it to this mountain next time I'm home.

It's gorgeous. Never been skiing at Mont Tremblant, but have enjoyed many visits off season.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan!!
ReplyDeleteI've never been there, but, it looks so beautiful!! The log cabin is awesome!! I can see us having glasses of hot wine and laughing about how many times we all fell on the hills.
What a beautiful retreat!!

The first place is stunning! The house is beautiful and I like the furnishings plus all the windows/light streaming in. Wide open spaces, privacy and water ~ what more would you want?
