That perches in the soul,
remember these from my Christmas decor?
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
well I kind of liked them
enough to want to keep them out all year round
so after eating 3 pickles
some jam on crackers
and discarding some plum sauce and capers because I absolutely positively was not going to have that on crackers ( and they may or may not have been in the fridge far too long by the way I gagged cleaning out the jars )
I put my silver garland in these
Different sizes are best I think
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
I painted all the lids with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - pure white
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
and than stencilled letters on the tops of them
I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
Now that I'm looking at it - I think the garland has to be packed away after all
but q-tips - cotton balls - bath salts - and maybe some tylenol lol - will be going in these for the bathroom...........
I have to get some Tortilla chips - because I have the perfect sized bottle of salsa in the fridge that I need to empty - now I'll be doing groceries with the size of jars in mind..............great, just what I needed for 2013 - another obsession. To go with the 3,482 I already have.
The next morning
John yells from the bathroom - Where are the q-tips?
John yells from the bathroom - I thought we had some left?
John yells from the bathroom - I hope we're not out of them
Suzan says - they're right in front of your eyes....................
John yells from the bathroom - WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
Suzan says - check the O
John yells from the bathroom - WHAT THE HELL? I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT MEANS
Suzan drags herself out of bed and plunks this down in front of him
Suzan says - I think you're going deaf, by the way
Suzan says - I told you they were right in front of your eyes!
Suzan says - I think you're going blind too..................
John says - Do me a favor? LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU DO THESE THINGS PLEASE?
Suzan says - You really shouldn't be cleaning out your ears with q-tips honey - it's only going to
make your hearing problem worse...........................

Aren't all men blind and deaf?
ReplyDeleteLOL - perhaps you're right about that Deanne!
DeleteBut only to certain things - John is deaf when he doesn't want to hear - but if I'm whispering on the phone he somehow can hear everything I'm saying ( that's the truth !!! )

What a great post! Why haven't I thought of using all my jars? Love your humor too!

Hi Suzan,
ReplyDeleteI clicked over from Life on Lakshore Drive. Kathy said your blog is great, and she is right! I'm your newest follower, and am so looking forward to catching up on your humorous posts and beautiful furniture transformations.

I love your jars! I save most of mine and have done very little with them. You've inspired me dear! Sam will think the q-tips jar will need a "Q" on it though. He's too sensible.
ReplyDeleteMay I suggest Liqui-Gel Advils for a pop of colour, lol? Those are really, really cute and a great way to reuse jars. (No. Nope. Not gonna do it. I have a roomful of crap saved up for another gazillion projects. Don't even think about it.) That was my internal dialogue going on as I was reading your post. It could very well be my "He says, she says" dialogue too if I showed your post to my husband...
ReplyDeleteBehind the milk? Do you know that one? My husband opens the fridge, stares in and then says where is the mayo?....and it is usually, behind the milk.
ReplyDeletelol poor John im still totally lol happy Monday
ReplyDeleteLove the idea! Lol I can just hear the two of you! And John with his wonderful accent. Lol I always tell my children, daughter and sons, look like a woman and not like a man! They get it when I have to come over and move something out of the way so they can find what they were looking for.....a running joke in our home!

Obsessions, or a million things to do always go along with being brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI love the jars, and the chalk paint lids are perfect-o!
Very cool idea and thanks for the giggle this morning.
ReplyDeletethanks so much - and thanks for coming by!

Hi Suzan!!
ReplyDeleteI think the jars are a great idea. I love how you labelled them!!
I always laugh at how men can't find things in front of them, but, I love it when they are looking for something and yell that they can't find it, when all they had to do is move something and it's right there. That one always kills me.
Have a great week my friend!!
Pam
xox
Men can never see what is right in front of their eyes!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteTell John you are driving him slowly mad. He probably already knows that though huh?
ReplyDeleteBliss
LOL- You are gonna get a laugh out of MY "talk" post tomorrow...or 'lack of talk' post.
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet jars -they turned out great and I think they are fun and clever- xo Diana
Too cute! Love the brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Year!

Though you have many a helpful hint, what I enjoy about reading your posts is that they make me laugh and that's a very good thing.
ReplyDeletethanks so much Lulu ( for " getting " me ) lol

I love the concept of cleaning out the door of the frig to get the jars. I am quite sure that my capers are capable of producing a gag reflex also.
ReplyDeleteI once needed 10 matching wine bottles for a project and it took me TWO nights to empty them out. I'm such a trooper.
(Emily Dickinson rocks.)
So gorgeous! Such a great way to jazz up the bathroom counter!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer… From Dream To Reality!

thanks Melanie!!!
DeleteCheck the O...that was funny! I hope he doesn't mind us laughing a little! A very cute project. I put seashells in every jar I can find!
ReplyDeleteFantastic!!!
ReplyDeletetruth be told, this conversation could have happened in my home. I am ALWAYS moving things around on hubby and he can't find stuff. (something I inherited from my mother that always drove me nuts!! haha- the irony) you never cease to make me laugh :)
ReplyDeleteSelective hearing I call it. Adorable H-O-P-E jars. I love the quote at the top--one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea and they are so cute. Thanks so much for sharing with Wednesdays Adorned From Above Blog Hop.

Hilarious!!! Reading to my hubby now ; )
ReplyDeleteI've saved too many jars for my daughters wedding. These are good ideas. Thanks for sharing. Found your link at Jann's, Share Your Cup.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Suzan and did John hear your warning about the Q-tips? hehe
ReplyDeleteDebbie :)
That is one of my favorite poems! And I really like using jars and storage places.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzy Q! I have the verse line of that poem hanging in my master bath. Love it! Your jars turned out so cute. I have a story that you MUST pass on to John. My cousin was having a hard time hearing out of one ear. She went to the Doc and she had a hole Q-tip in there. This is a true story! Can you believe? Now I tease her and say, "She can't hear you, she's got a Q-tip in her ear" lol! Thanks for the tip of how to clean out the refrigerator! Thanks for sharing with Share Your Cup.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
p.s. I think my hubby is getting hard of hearing too. I think it's from wearing headphones so much. He puts them on at night alot and listens to music before going to sleep.
Just saw that I said verse instead of first. How crazy is that?
ReplyDeleteRead it again and saw that I said hole instead of whole. lol! Had to come back for a second laugh.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I'd love for you to share this or any of your great ideas at the link party going on now (and every Saturday through Tuesday) at 'Or so she says ...' Hope to see you there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invitation Mariel - see you soon
