I swore I wouldn't utter a word about the heat this summer...............I made a promise to myself that I was going to bite my tongue and just remember what happened in Spring here in Montreal
BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS - the heat is repressive - makes everyone feel nauseous and cranky and just plain miserable and I'll complain if I want to - what kind of promise was that to make to myself anyway?
If I were a stalk of corn I'd look like this

If each one of them leave you longing for the one you just had?
The heat goes on in southern Ontario and southern Quebec Thursday, with humidex values in the high 30s and low 40s.
CBC meteorologist Jay Scotland said temperatures should be slightly less warm than Wednesday, but still hot and humid.
Ottawa officially reached heat wave status yesterday — three straight days of 32 C or higher — and Toronto could follow suit today after a high of 34.8 C on Wednesday. The temperature was already 27 C in Toronto's downtown as of 7 a.m. ET.
"That would be seasonal average for a daytime high, and we're nowhere near the daytime high just yet," Scotland said.
For you Americans - the above is in Celcius - ( which took me 20 years to think in terms of - and now thanks to blogging and most of it being American - I'm dangerously close to thinking in terms of Farenheit again ) it's in the mid 90's - which is one thing - but it's the humidity which brings it soaring past 100..........
104 with the humidity today to be precise.
By 7 o'clock in the morning it's 80 degrees............
Still think of Canada in terms of Snow and igloos?
( that would be just a leeetle further up north my friends )
Montreal and Toronto weather come dangerously close to being like Manhattan weather - and if you've ever been to Manhattan in July and August you know exactly what I'm talking about - and if you haven't been in July or Auguest - DON'T
And if you do go in July or August don't say I didn't warn ya!!!!!!!!!!
Right now these are looking pretty good

Stay Cool
I am not one of those people that complained about our strangely cold spring and early winter. I have never been a "summer" kind of gal. I like every season except summer. I told someone yesterday that if we had another hot day I was stripping down naked and running through the sprinkler in my backyard. My next blog comment will probably be from jail...
ReplyDeleteI have to sweat to know we are having summer. It's only about 3 months here. It cooled off here and we have the windows open and the air off. It must be coming your way.
ReplyDeleteThe heat is crazy everywhere--even at my mom's (on Lake Ontario). We thought going north would help.....
ReplyDeleteI hope you get some relief soon Suzan! It's hot here too..but we expect it. I miss the days of living at 5,000ft. in the cool mountains of Montana.
ReplyDeleteSounds much like good old Florida....:) I do hope you have air conditioning! Try to stay cool... :) Blessings, Vicky
ReplyDeleteIt is hot everywhere! You are right NYC is awful in the summer. You can't breathe. Stay cool!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how hot it is everywhere. We have had constant rain here and it is not even really hot, especially for July. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteOh that ice hotel looks pretty tempting right now! Thanks for the pics, they make me feel a little bit cooler. I promised myself that I wouldn't complain about the summer too, but I lied... big time!!! I never thought I'd be living in one giant never ending hot flash. lol.
ReplyDeleteBig sweaty hugs,
Tuula
Crazy hot here too in DC/Maryland! Keep cool!
ReplyDeleteWith the heat index it was over 100 every single day here. And, because we have Lake Michigan on one side and sit right on the Bay the humidity is HORRIBLE! The news says that we have broken the heat barrier and it is cooler this morning but I am afraid to go outside and see. UGH- You are forgiven for complaining (again!;>) Why don't you sit inside and watch a movie like you-know-who does? xo Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan,
ReplyDeleteI am with you with complaining about the hot weather. I can take heat it is the humidity that is unbearable. We finally got some rain last night and it is cooling down some here. Suppose to only be in the 70's tomorrow after a week of high 90's so I hope that happens. This weather let's our crazy show!!!
Kris
I agree, it is unbearable here in PA as well! Have a great weekend! Vicki
ReplyDeletelol yes ny sucks in july & august just sux lol
ReplyDeleteEveryone expects it to be hot at the beach but, when indexes hit 110's that's enough.... Isn't it funny how we all look at beach pics in the winter and long for the warmth(heat) and then snow and ice pics in the summer and dream of that...personally, I just hibernate in the summer and do all the indoor projects I can.. I should live in Hawaii where it's 70's year round,lol... Keep cool Suzan it will be winter soon enough, lol...
ReplyDeleteI always say I'm not going to gripe about winter but I hate it so much I always do. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's hot for up there!!! It's in the 100s and humid here, because we can get monsoon storms now. So the heat alternates: dry and over 110 or mid hundreds 105 and humid. It finally really rained last night for an hour, and flooding the streets for a short time.
ReplyDeleteI do not envy your winters. I hate the cold more than I hate the hot.
I am with you...trying so hard not to complain. Really hard. But then I remind myself that summer is flying by and before you know it..... the nasty white arrives. :)
ReplyDeleteoh I can so relate..Live in South Carolina...And the humidity makes you sweat before you feel hot...I think I like spring and fall..those wondeful transition months were the weather is only perfect for a short period of time but I am so greatful to have them to look forward to..and Horay for Aircondtion....
ReplyDeleteSouth Carolina here also! Suzan up top has discovered one of our secrets - stripping naked any chance we are near a body of water! Sprinklers included. We have had so much rain that our normal heat indices above 100F have not yet arrived. BUT we know they will. Of course I do not understand how you can stand day after day of cold weather, snow and ice.
ReplyDeleteOh, it is hot here in Dallas, TX, but this will be my fourth year living here, I can't believe I have been her for 4 years, and this has been the coolest summer in 4 years, but wet, wet, wet. It has gotten depressing. I hope the heat lets us for you soon. I hate to see fields burning up. The first year I moved here the cattle and horses were all but starving from the drought. I hope you have better weather soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patty
it's been 100- 102 in VA plus the heat index has made it feel hotter of course the past week and unbearable even at the pool. I love the heat but oh man. I HAD to wear makeup out last NIGHT and I barely made it through. Dreading putting more on today to celebrate a bday dinner.
ReplyDeleteLauren
I haven't had makeup on in over a week and my hair looks like the corn stalks in the photos above.
DeleteHave fun tonight!
XOX
Hi Suzan, I hope it cools down pretty soon, but it seems that every day is only hotter than the one before. I don't even look at the temps anymore, but we are having much higher humidity this year that most, so it seems way hotter. I dread getting the next energy bill..Happy Weekend..Judy
ReplyDeleteIt has been very hot and humid in New Jersey, for quite some time now. In the 90's. We are hoping for some rain tonight to help take the temps down. Last night at 9:00 p.m. it was still 86 degrees. This too much I tell you TOO MUCH!!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
So strange that many of you are suffering these temps when we are enjoying a bit of a cool snap. Used to triple digits, the past week has been in the low 90s with a few days in the 80s. We've also had some much needed rain. Sorry you are suffering the hot temps. I know how miserable it can be. Wishing you cooler days ahead!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh.....!!!! I soooo hear you, sista! It's been one brutal week down here - but after the rain last night, it was much better this morning! Hope that some of the refreshing weather makes your way soon so that you don't end up looking like a withered up corn stalk....with chin hair. lol
ReplyDeletexoxo laurie
You'd think we'd all have lots like 50 pounds working in this heat....instead I'm bloated like a codfish. Today down here in Indiana the humidity and temps are supposed to go down a bit. Thank heavens....working on furniture in the garage will seem like one of those ice palaces after last week.
ReplyDeleteOh you Candains don't know what hot is like come over here to Australia and I will show you hot.Plus its winter here now so I am rugged up in a blanket-love dee x
ReplyDeleteWhen the snow was falling in March and I was lamenting about the cold, I too swore that I would not complain about the heat. But as they always say.....it's not the heat, it's the humidity. Can't stand the humidity!!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness it's cooler now - even if it did make for horrid storms Friday night.
We are having the same heat wave as you. The thing is that we have such extremes, as hot as over 100F in the summer and as cold as -40F in the winter. I'm too old for both, so need some place more moderate!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! We had the same heat wave for days and days and days on end. But last night it broke! It is sunny and COOL today. Simply gorgeous. And because Kingston and Montreal typically have the same weather, I'm guessing you should be experiencing the same thing. If not today, definitely by tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteComplain away dear ;) The humidity is stinkin' horrid. I thought i would melt the other night AFTER the sun went down.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand humidity but after our 8 month summer where we had 40+ almost every day I cried for winter, the other day it was 23 in July insane but lovely this weekend rain freezing and I'm wishing for the heat again. Celsius is easier to work out ;)
ReplyDeleteI hear ya...it is miserable here in Iowa as well! We have 60% humidity and no rain in weeks...after I complained about 2 straight months of rain :) I love your ice pictures, they did make me feel cooler for a minute or so :)
ReplyDeleteThe world has flipped upside down.
ReplyDeleteHow bizarre is it when it's hotter in Montreal than in Houston in July?
Let's check in to the ice hotel right away.
Fun post! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is WINTER! So I can not wait for snow! I am a cross country skier and can not wait to bundle up. xx oo
But our winters are TOO cold - lol - I don't know what I like anymore :)
DeleteXOXO
Um...shouldn't this have been an "I wanna live there" post?? =D
ReplyDelete-andi
The ice hotel is magical - beautiful! The heat in France right now is unbearable so it would be a welcome reprieve :)
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to weather, most of us are hard to please. We do so like our temps in the perfect range, don't we? I'm still going to stick by my Winter admonition and tell you to get in the car and drive South. We have had some great temps with a mix of rain and sunshine and it's been breezy. I don't know why you people don't all move down by the beach! If it gets hot and humid, well, then you can jump in the water and remember, hey it is Summer after all!
ReplyDeleteLiz
We have a heat wave in France as well. Luckily, Brittany is always milder and even if it's hot I have a nice sea breeze to make it OKish. It's even cloudy this morning. Maybe it's better for you now, I'm so late reading my mails!
