I live in a pretty incredible area - in Montreal, It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one or two homes that are for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!
On occasion I'll showcase beautiful homes in other areas - countries - continents - the one thing most of them will have have in common will be their age - because I love old homes with stories to tell, join me won't you?

building and the floor to ceiling windows ( with AMAZING views ) Wouldn't it make a beautiful Pied a Terres right in the heart of things?
I think an industrial highly polished concrete floor would look fantastic in this place
And having this as your neighborhood would make all of the above priceless I would think

ReplyDelete'K - I'm contacting the realtor for you now!!!

The first one had me with that fabulous huge blue front door! The second has such gorgeous architectural details and the flat has the most amazing light...oddly shaped rooms, though. I could move into the first. I have always wanted to go to Scotland. Again, I have GOT to get a passport!
ReplyDeleteHow do the prices compare to your area? I like all properties, but I know how dramatically prices drop once you move a bit further out. I love Edinburgh, and Scotland in general, I never tire of going there.
ReplyDeleteI was born in Edinburgh but came to the states when I was five. About 30 years ago my Aunt bought a flat similar to the building in #3 for $25,000! We went and stayed in it when I was about 21 and what an amazing experience. It was located on Roseneath Street and was the original home of her childhood. Can you believe a family of 5 lived in a little flat like that!? She said she remembered the bombs going off in front of the place and it blew the windows and doors off during the war. Unfortunately she had to sell due to illness. I wish we still had that flat after seeing your post. Thank you for the wonderful pictures. Now you're making me start thinking about a vacation next year!! Yes, I definitely want to live there!
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine?
DeleteWouldn't that have been a lovely thing to inherit???
We used to go to Yorkshire quite often - now I'm wondering - if I was so far up north anyway - why didn't I continue and make it to Edinburgh?
It all looks so gorgeous!!!!!
XOXO
I've very partial to British homes. Those light pine floors and pine doors--fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI wanna go there!! They all have something that I would like but the view is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI am in love. True to it's original architecture without retaining an overwhelming air of formality.
ReplyDeleteStunning! I'll take number 1 or 2, please...right after I win the lottery. :) Scotland is definitely on my 'places I'd love to visit' list. Can you imagine the beautiful things you'd see there?
ReplyDeleteMy husband would live in a shack if we could have a second house there. It's his second favorite city in the world to be (London is the first).
ReplyDeleteI was in Scotland once, many years ago. What I remember about it is the unbelievably beautiful countryside. Looks like there are some amazing homes there. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteNone of those places speaks to me, except the ceiling and skylight in the first house - amazing! But, the last photos of Scotland - ooh and ahh!
ReplyDeleteAmazing homes but I like the first one best. Lots of character and oak trims and that gorgeous skylight. We have been to Scotland and Edinburgh as well as England. We spent a month there 21 years ago and would love to go back some day. There is so much history in Britain and beautiful countryside, castles, cities and towns. We love it! I'm now following your blog. Enjoying these posts. Pamela
ReplyDeleteI think Scotland is just beautiful and would love to go there someday. I like something in each of the houses. The thing I don't like in the first one is the dinette in the kitchen. I would feel like I was sitting in a box-but love the stained glass, skylight and garden.
ReplyDeleteSecond one- I love the dining area-
Last one- A bit ultra modern for me but I love all the light that floods each room. Fun picks, Suzan. xo Diana
John did good picking Scotland! I wanna at least visit there. That first living room, blue and white, made me say Wow!
ReplyDeleteMy John has been to Scotland a lot for business. Beautiful architecture. He said it can rain, sleet, snow lightly and bee sunny there in one day. Beautiful places. The first one would be my pick. More details in the molding, etc.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
I've been there....but never seen the city as it looks in those (fantastic) photos. I'm quite sure i was in the area of that second scenic pic. Isn't that the Walter Scott memorial? It's for one of the famous scots authors, anyway.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, I adore, Edinburgh after just one visit. And, just about three hours ago, I bought two lottery tickets. So just maybe...............

My sister went to University of Edinburgh. I (the unloved sister) went to school in Pennsylvania. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE????
ReplyDeleteI've been to Scotland, including Edinburgh Castle. Scotland is just beautiful, I was a teenager and couldn't believe how lovely it was way back then.
ReplyDeleteLove to visit, but not to live there :) ...even if the houses look pretty cool
ReplyDeleteThose tiny little fireplaces in the first house are adorable! And those views from the third. WOW. I could stare at that first night pic for hours, I think. I almost expected Dick Van Dyke to dance across the rooftops singing about chimney sweeps. Chim Chim Cher-ee. I love that song. Gives me goosebumps.
ReplyDeleteI'm blowing you a kiss Betsy

Oh wow, thanks for taking me along for house tour, I love the tiny fireplace as well, wonderful share!
ReplyDeleteI watch this show on Friday nights called escape to the country and it's people moving to the UK countryside, oh they have some amazing places, my dream is to move to the countryside somewhere in the UK. Sadly when I convert pounds into aussie dollars the dream ends. Beautiful places!
ReplyDeleteThe two houses are definitely screaming "Come and live there, Magali" (I wonder how they know my name, by the way): pannelled doors, stained glass, fireplaces and wood floor! Wow! Did I forget bow-windows?
ReplyDeleteI love the way the first two homes have a mix of the elegant period details and furnishings with modern accents. Very interesting post!
ReplyDeleteI love the old world pic, with the cobblestone streets. Yum.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to dream, thanks for sharing. Challenge for you...have you ever googled UFO house in Chattanooga TN? It's very different then your genre, but it is retro, 1970s. check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one with all its architecture, moldings, fireplaces, and that skylight. What an amazing town.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patty at Home and Lifestyle Design
What beautiful homes. Thanks for the tour!
ReplyDeleteIt's the ones with the walled gardens that get me. I want a secret garden!
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing these beautiful homes. I am a terrible traveller, so I armchair travel through blogs like yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining me Petra!!!

Ohh, my goodness these homes are to die for.
ReplyDeleteFor our 30th anniversary we went to Scotland for 30 days in '11. It was incredible. Gave me plenty of blogging material! LOL Seriously tho, if anyone is wondering about a guide that is very reasonable I can highly and fully recommend Cameron Tours. Dave is priceless!
ReplyDeleteAye Lass, you'd be right!!!
ReplyDeleteWe Scots came over to Montreal when the mines closed.
We missed the Old Country so much, we tried to make the New Country into our Old Country and we did a smashing job of et I tellya. (Saying this in my dad's Old Country accent. He was from Glasgow.
I'm with you with the flat. What a great street to live on!!! I'm also adding this to my bucket list!!! I would love to visit Scotland and Great Britain!!!
