Good morning all :)
How many of you have dressing rooms?
I've never had one in my life ( I've never even had a walk in closet - something I think all women should have just by right of passage really )
Nor have I ever lived anywhere where I could take a room and turn it into a dressing room - ( which one of my girlfriend's did - creating the prettiest little " boudoir " ) but if there's any good at all in being an empty nester ( and 3 years later it's the ONLY positive thing I can think of yet ) it's that I can now do that !!!
Is everyone sick of hearing about the house yet?
Do you remember this tiny room?
Well the wheels are turning people - so fast it's making my head spin -
Do you see what I see? ( way up in the sky, little lamb )
My very own tiny dressing room perhaps?
Contemporary Closet by Austin Interior Designers & Decorators Spaces Designed, Interior Design Studio, LLC
Contemporary Closet by Markham Interior Designers & Decorators Jennifer Brouwer (Jennifer Brouwer Design Inc)
I have 2 wardrobes that I could incorporate - ( IKEA ) which I DID NOT want to take with us - but the new people don't want them ( that tells you how ugly they are lol ) but I think they'd work perfectly in
a corner of a small room - and they hold a tun of stuff
I also have a vanity in storage just waiting to be redone - and the perfect little dresser -
It looks like I may have a boudoir of my very own - maybe I'll pick up a pair of slippers with kitten heels and pompoms and a feather boa to wrap myself in .......................You know, channelling my Eva Gabor type of thing ( dahlink I love you but give me Park Avenue )
And now, the moment everyone - the MOMENT !!!
Suzan says - John could you please pick a number from 1 to 77 ?
John says - Why ?
Suzan says - What does it matter? Just pick a number please
John says - What do I win?
Suzan says - YOU don't win anything - it's for Annie Sloan's signed book - I have a giveaway for it, remember?
John says - WHY ARE YOU GIVING THAT AWAY?
Suzan says - It's a giveaway from Caroline and Annie and Me
John says - Do you know 9 times out of 10 when we speak it's about your blog???
Suzan says - John could you please pick a number from 1 to 77?
Suzan says - Never mind - I'll go on the computer and do it.........................
Suzan says - I've just packed another 9 boxes while you're watching t.v. - you could be a little more
accommodating you know
NINE - John yells out as I walk away.......................
Suzan says - YES - NINE BOXES -
John says - no, that's it - that's the number I'm picking
Suzan says - you couldn't even pick a number on your own?
John says - that WAS the number I was going to pick!
Suzan says - well that's certainly a coinkadink isn't it John?
But hey that's the number he chose.
And that would be TINA from WHAT WE KEEP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone for participating - and just to let you know I have a couple of more giveaway's lined up
in the next 2 weeks :)
Have yourselves a wonderful
Much love
Every time I move - every single time - I promise myself that next time I'll hire the movers to do the packing too - and I never do..................I think I'm at around 50 boxes and that's just the living room and dining room - THAT'S the problem with loving " things ".......................
Well done to Tina.
ReplyDeleteA dressing room has just become my top priority when we move!
I would love to have a dressing room! Congrats to the winner!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
Such gorgeous dressing rooms. How fun to be able to not only have a room like that, but to get to decorate it and make it your own! Congratulations to the winner...:)

Congrats to Tina. I love all of those dressing areas. How fun is that going to be to have a dressing room just for you. I know Suzan you will make it fabulous. Good luck on the packing.

These dressing rooms sure are beautiful! We have a standard 6 foot closet that we share and I can certainly live without a dressing room but the idea of one is just 'dahling'. I think your Ikea units can be dressed up with new knobs and pulls and maybe some crown moulding to make it look built in. Fifty boxes already eh? Oh my. I don't envy you your job. Blessings to you. Pam
ReplyDeleteA dressing room?? Perfect. What a fabulous idea for that space.
ReplyDeleteFunny me...I was counting the boxes and at the end I SAW YOUR numbers....Hugs, Cristina
ReplyDeleteSuzan, Did I miss the announcement that you have a new place to call "home?" I have been waiting patiently...LOVE all the white rooms. I too have a friend who turned a bedroom into a boudoir and she even put a stackable washer and dryer in there for just HER laundry! Not only was it beautiful with a pretty chandelier, but she could seriously wash her clothes and put them away in no time! Happy Packing! I do NOT envy you!
ReplyDeleteHow did you get into Imelda Marcos' shoe closet?? lol I hope you get your dressing-room closet, Suzan, with a tail as big as a kite. ♫ (Thank you once again for the ear worm.)
ReplyDeleteI had a dressing room in Seattle. Now I am down to one closet. I am going to be very, very jealous!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Suzan! I hope my prize includes dinner with Annie and you? No? I'll be happy with my signed book...I'm thrilled to be the winner of your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteA sweet little dressing room all for you and your girly things...definitely a need in your new place. Please thank John for his contribution to my win!
One of my three bedrooms is made into my closet. All stuff expands to fill the area you allow it, so my closet is full. There is no vanity table, no crystal, no Zsa Zsa Gabor decor, just stuff. The actual closet in that bedroom is just my shoes. It's luxurious, but not in a tastefully decorated type of way.
ReplyDeleteI assumed you waltzed around in a feather boa all the time already...
That sounds so lovely! Especially the size and the decor!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has a mini dressing area in her room, but I never got to around to finishing it and hanging the curtain.
Suzan, I think you will be doing all the packing.... I love the dressing rooms - how great would that be.... never had one or a walk in closet either. Congrats to Tina the winner.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Suzan and don't over do.
Mary

ReplyDeleteWow a desk in there - it must be huge Anj!!!
DeleteXOXOXO
You lucky girl. I am not getting a dressing room but my own walk-in closet and a vanity just for me to be part of the bathroom. Oh poor me, right. That just made me realize that I am spoiled, LOL!!! I would really love to meet John some day. He just cracks me up!!! I can't wait to see this happen for you.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
I am in the process of building one for the last year and a half. Unfortunately It has to share the washer and dryer but fortunately it will be so easy to put clothes away, I can hardly wait to see yours!!
ReplyDeleteWe had a dressing "room" in our last house - it was basically a small bedroom with a hole blown through to our master - vanity, drawers, hanging closets - it was awesome. I miss it so much. So I say, do it!! You're life will never be the same. The kids can sleep in the basement. :)
ReplyDeleteI love to see all of your ideas! You have lovely taste girl and I can't wait to see some of your new home transformations! Congratulations to Tina...that book could not have gone to a more awesome person!
ReplyDeleteI would so love a walk in closet. I guess you might consider what I have to be walk in...but really I just consider it a double wide regular closet. Love your dressing room ideas!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Tina!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm just about jumping up and down in my chair with excitement over a dressing room! Lucky, lucky you! I'll live vicariously through you! And no, I'm not tired of the house and won't be ever! I promise...you can tell me everything you have planned and I'll enjoy each step!
Hugs,
Cecilia
I am sooooo excited for you and your move, Suzan!!! How well I remember how much work it is to move. Luckily we moved from a house with very little storage space to the farmhouse which has a ton! BUT...very few closets. We turned a tiny little bedroom into my "walk in closet". Now granted, it's NOTHING as beautiful and grand as the photos you shared. Just hung a couple metal poles from chains from the ceiling....for now. lol But it works! And believe me, it's packed!!! lolol Knowing you, though ~ your dressing room will be absolutely gorgeous and I'll end up being quite jealous. hehehe!

I must have missed something as well because I don't remember seeing a picture of the home you chose and if they accepted the proposal. I turned a bedroom into a walk in closet but no room for any desk or cabinets - mine must have been a much smaller room. Enjoy Suzan, because you deserve it. BTW, I have always packed for every single move - that is for really rich people and just maybe, maybe I'm too frugal.
ReplyDeleteMy those are huge boxes you have packed. I hope you have good movers. I hope your move goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Tina! Great win! We've moved ourselves every time too. It seems we just can't pay anyone to do anything that we can do ourselves. We always used liquor store boxes for our glassware so we didn't have to wrap it all up. That's just too much work for me. This way each glass just sits in a bottle slot and that's it. Easy! The only trick is you can't drop a box, lol, and you can't trust these boxes to movers. A dressing room? Oh what a fabulous luxury that would be. But I'd have to give up my craft room/office so it'll just be a dream for me, but I'll happily live vicariously through you. I know it will be amazing!
ReplyDeleteA dressing room? Do you realise you're going to live every girl's dream?
ReplyDeleteGo Tina! Um I love the dressing room but that's a lot of fanciness for painting clothes LOL
ReplyDeleteA dressing room would be quite the luxury -- go for it!
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo, Tina! Congrats. I love the idea of a dressing room. I can't wait to see your dressing room.
