One Sexy Window !!!

Bonjour - Hi !!!
( I'll let you know next week - if I remember - why I'm choosing to open my posts with those words)

I really had to think about the day today - is it Friday already?

Where did the week go?  I mean I know time flies when you're having fun - what you don't realize when you're younger is that it flies even when you're NOT having fun - it just flies for the sake of flying I guess..............You wake up and it's Monday morning - and later that day you yawn and look at the clock and it's Friday night.

What do you think of the window?

The window was an extravagance - quite pricey ( I'm choking as I type this ) and on top of that they wanted another 450.00 dollars to paint it black - fuggedaboudit I told them - I paint - I'll do it myself - but now I'm torn - if I paint the window black you won't see that gorgeous hardware !!!

which is why I paid 4 million dollars for it in the first place................

Help - throw me a bone people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What do I do here?

I love black windows - I want black windows in the kitchen - the whole design was built around having black windows

source
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHICH DISNEY CHARACTER THIS RESEMBLES?
LOOK CAREFULLY - THE SCREWS ARE THE EYE AND THE KNOB IS IS THE NOSE
I CAN'T PLACE IT AND IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS LMHO

Can windows be sexy?
Because if they can be - I think this is the sexiest window out there !!!

How much is that doggie in the window?

God - she needs to be groomed - note to self - call the groomer - she just came in from outside lol - look at her hair - it's normally on top of her head not hanging down like that.  Poor little neglected thing.

God - I need to be groomed - note to self - call the hairdresser

So guys - what do I do?
I haven't got a clue here - and I'm torn

that's why I'm leavin' it all up to you............you decide what you're I'm gonna do
now do you want my love................or are we through?

if you're too young to remember that song - just be grateful

HELP !!!
( please - time's a wastin' !!! )

3 songs - just because I don't think I gave you any this week at all

If you're too young to have seen this movie - SEE IT - what a great one ( I walk the line )

It's not too late to enter the contest - and become one of Abby's Angels -

You just have to click HERE and leave me a comment - that's it - that's all !

John says - WHY IS ALL THE PROTECTIVE WRAPPING OFF THE WINDOW???????????
Suzan says - Because I need advice so I'm putting it out there in Bloglandia
John says - You'd better pray it doesn't fall Suzan - are you crazy?
Suzan says - I had to unwrap it for the particular advice I need
John says - I notice you didn't ask me...............
Suzan says - Ok - should I still paint it black or leave it white?
John says - Well you won't listen to me anyway so why ask?
John says - If it breaks will your blog buddies pay to replace it?

Have a great weekend all
(I assured him that of course if it broke you all would be more than happy to chip in and replace it lol)

Much love,

Painting pine floors ( again )

BONJOUR - HI !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night I decided to paint the hall landing ....................
It's in terrible condition really - and this is another quick fix that will have to be readdressed down the road - but I couldn't look at it another day...............

When we lifted the carpet the floor looked like this

Looks like they were painted many many years ago - with a " runner " painted onto them ( nice idea not so crazy about the colors though :)

So.........................the problem with painting this area is that you lose access to everything upstairs which includes the bedroom and the office - kind of necessary to get in and out of those spaces.

John's out of town for a couple of days - so I jumped ( and I mean that literally as you'll soon see )
on the opportunity to get this particular job done

Now you'll see why I had to wait until John was gone - ( I've also decided it's time to lift that 50 year old linoleum from the office - can you see it in the corner of the photo ? )

I needed to get into the office after the floor was painted but that's quite the hop skip and a jump wouldn't you say?

Not so when you're as graceful as a gazelle !!!

First I hooked my foot onto the railing ledge like so...................

And sailed through the air
With the greatest of ease
Until I came crashing
down on my knees................

I think it might have been the camera actually - I could have done it if I didn't have to photograph it for the blog don't you know - and holding Soda in one arm didn't help matters much at all.

My knees are bruised - I'm walking with a limp - but the floor is painted !!! ( and the camera and Soda are intact )

3 things I've learned today

1) I have the ugliest feet - I'm just going to tell people I was a ballerina in my younger days and that's why my feet look the way they do - all twisted with bunions and all - ( I took ballet as a little girl - does that count? ) John calls them clodhoppers -

2) Paint fixes everything ( except feet )

3) I'm not a gazelle

source
or a ballerina ( even if my feet say differently )

I'm more like my zodiac sign - ( now aren't you impressed how I flew across the landing? )

source
Worth it?

I think so - I'd attempt to fly over double the space to have this end result

I use Behr Porch paint for all the interior floors - with a gloss finish - it's an extremely durable paint!
It ties in with the bedroom perfectly

Ok - I want a tea - so I have to fly ( literally )  don't even picture it - it's ugly - and I'm going to attempt to get back in here with a tea in my hand -

Sochi has nothing on me....................

Have a great one all !

Hugs

Not that many photos - but I don't know if my heart could have stood more than they show -
This is simply gorgeous -

This next photo leaves me with my mouth resting on the keyboard - seriously seriously in love with this room - the fireplace - the few pops of glamour - the windows - the trunk at the foot of the bed and the
white casual bedding - it's so magical in a very UNcontrived way, right?

And if the building looks just a tiny bit familiar - it's because it's where Miss Holly Golightly lived
This is the townhouse they used for the frontage in Breakfast at Tiffany's !

(I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps)

The Green Thing

I know this has been circulating for awhile now - but with the off chance that some of you haven't seen it I'm posting it now.

I've searched high and low for the author to no avail - if anyone knows who this should be credited to please let me know - it's beautifully said..................

THE GREEN THING

Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older woman, that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.

The woman apologized and explained, "We didn't have this 'green thing' back in my earlier days."
The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations.

She was right -- our generation didn't have the 'green thing' in our day.Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over.
So they really were recycled.

But we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.

Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags, that we reused for numerous things, most memorable besides household garbage bags, was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our schoolbooks. This was to ensure that public property, (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings.  Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags.

But too bad we didn't do the "green thing" back then.

We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.
But she was right. We didn't have the "green thing" in our day.
Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throwaway kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that young lady is right; we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.
Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of North America.

In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us.

When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.

But she's right; we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.

But we didn't have the "green thing" back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family's $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the "green thing." We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.
But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then?
Please forward this on to another selfish old person who needs a lesson in conservation from a smart ass young person....We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to piss us off...

Amen to that !!!  ( sorry if anyone takes offence to the last paragraph but It's not up to me to change someone else's words - and I agree with them anyway lol )

Is 54 old?
Because I can remember all of it.............

And I'm still recycling - including furniture :)

Have a great day all !

Good morning everyone

I picked this up some time ago - but with everything that's been going on in my world - reno's - disastrous discoveries etc - she just sat in the dining room patiently awaiting her makeover -
In order to escape a little of my reality I decided to get lost in a makeover - a quick one - but a makeover none the less

Seller's photo

and now

Painted Bench, shabby

I added a few " country " words - and that Hen towel?  Tina from What we Keep created and sent me
I can't use it - I simply can't - it's too pretty ( what IS wrong with me? )

stencilled country bench makeover

Hens and eggs - get it - got it ? Good !

I'm even too scared to leave them out on display in case John uses them LMHO -

And just as I was finishing up, look what arrived !!!!!!!!!!

and the new window is here too !!!

Oh my gosh - it's close now folks - it ohsoclose to being finished ( the kitchen that is - the rest of the place is still vomit inducing )

In the meantime my country bench is " fait accomplis "

Rubber Ducky you're the one..........................

Morning all :)

Most of you know that I was pretty happy about the pool that came with this house

What the seller's forgot to mention was the indoor pool - in the dining room

3 of them to be exact - one each for John and I - and a smaller one for Soda

Instead of concrete we have warped floors to dive in from..........................

Lovely - it's just lovely - to have somewhere to kick your shoes off in the middle of winter.

THANK GOD WE DID NOT START ON THE DINING ROOM YET - THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY.

$&^@#*&^$)_ -  well a couple of other words as well but they don't count

John had to go buy a " wave " ( never heard of that before - but never lived in a house with a peaked roof before so...............it's a heating contraption that keeps icicles from forming and making their way into your home ) and it's a quick fix because roofers can't work on the roof in the winter.

Suzan says - Will you be near a dollar store by any chance?
John says - Right beside one - what do you need?
Suzan says  - Could you see if they have any rubber ducks?
John says - I beg your pardon? ( picture that with a British accent please )
Suzan says - You heard me - I'd like a rubber duck
John says - WHAT THE HELL FOR?
Suzan says - what does it matter ?  I'd like a rubber duck -
John says - Suzan we have an emergency to take care - I don't have time for your nonsense
Suzan says - It's NOT nonsense - I have a reason for it - can you pick it up for me or not?
John says - I'm going to look like a bloody fool standing at the cash with a rubber duck in my hands.
Suzan says - No one will notice John - people have lives you know

I have pains from trying not to laugh at this point because now I'm picturing him standing at the cash with a rubber ducky in his hands and I'm almost peeing my pants here.................. can you picture it?

He looked like he wanted to throw it at my head when he walked in LMHO

Suzan says - Thanks so much John - if I didn't dig down deep and find a way to laugh about this I'd go insane
John says - And you call this SANE???
John says - Do your blogging buddies know what I do for your ridiculous blog?
Suzan says- Do you really think it's ridiculous?
John says - Amongst other things
John says - It's worrisome that you don't see it yourself

I'm still laughing - seriously - which is much better than crying, right?

Swimming swimming in my swimming pool
when days are hot - when days are cold
In my swimming pool...............................

Have a good weekend everyone -
I'm going to get John to practice some synchronized swimming with me................

Much love,

P.S. - this was not disclosed to us - so it's going to the insurance company first - who either accept or decline the claim - and then they contact the previous owner ( who is definitely responsible as we were not advised of this problem )

The BEST book !

You all know of my deep love for Paris AND books - so when my daughter bought me this antique book she found I was beyond thrilled !!!

It's old - it's big - and it's beautiful

It's all about France ( Paris in particular ) !!!

It's a nice thick one - with perfectly aged yellowing pages

I can't wait to get " into " it

and store some of my treasures !!!
isn't it fabulous?
She found it at Michaels in Florida - you'd better hurry - I think it's probably a best seller :)

I have a smaller version in pink - but it doesn't look as authentic as this one ( and if this one doesn't look authentic in the photos it's because of my lousy photography skills - or lack there of ) because it really looks like an old book in person :)

I have another post coming up on gifts I received - one a couple of months ago that I had forgotten until this week - shame on me - since it's from a fellow blogger and deserves a huge shout out - and
another I received this week.

Despite the fact that the leak in the dining room has turned into a disaster beyond belief  - I feel blessed.
Truly.

Much love,
