Before and almost after Entry way

Good morning !

It's an almost before and after - because like everything else in this place - NOTHING is quite finished.

Baseboards are missing - thermostats are hanging out - there's pictures and mirrors and shutters lined up against every wall - but for now you can at least see a little of where it's going I suppose.

And for all of you that are asking about that kitchen floor - a post should go up about it later this week I hope - because THAT'S STILL NOT FINISHED EITHER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So here we go - here's what the entry way looked like in December - after living here a couple of weeks

And then it looked like this

And this is what I've managed to come up with for you so far ( well for John and I also )

Remember that secretary?  If you don't here's how it looked once upon a time ( you can see her makeover HERE - not sure if she's staying there - but for now it's a perfect fit :)

The whole space is really in a transitional stage -  but I've started putting a mini greek key design on the stairs in the midst of mayhem,
The wall is painted black - in the day it looks navy for some reason - which is fine by me since I was torn between navy and black - I kind of now have both !
There's the kitchen floor to the left lol.................

Remember those mirrors and how stupid I can be?  You can read it ( or see it ) HERE

Why is black so hard to photograph?  Here we go - much better?
Can I tell you I'm ready to paint every mirror and frame in my house gold all of a sudden?

Hope you realize I'm still at the stage where I have to run around like a crazy lady clearing areas to take photos - it DOES not look as tidy as this right now LOL ..................

Ok - have a coffee table that I'm very late finishing - so I'm going to be busy today ( last week was sheer chaos because sanding was done on all the walls that had dry wall installed and you know what that means - dusting and cleaning for a month after )

Have a wonderful Monday everyone!
Hugs,
Moi

  2. Looks like you are coming along just fine. I am not a fan of black walls, but yours looks appropriate for the stairs and stairwell. And I really like the sneak peek of the kitchen floor and stainless appliances. Thanks for sharing your hard work with us. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  3. As my dad would say, "lookin' good!" Oh, and I tried the baby oil on my SS appliances and they look great! Thanks for the tip. They came with this house and I have never really liked them. But now (ten years later when we are thinking of selling) I am starting to like them since they are all buffed and beautiful looking, lol.

  15. I know this is all about the pretty (and it is!) but I am fixated and impressed by your ability to remove that post (and also the heating hedge that was between your entry and living room). You've seemed to do some structural changes that make an enormous impact on this house.

  16. You have some mad decorating skills...love it!!

  17. Just AMAZING difference. You really should invite the previous owners back when you are done, they will not believe this was their house.

  29. Everything is coming together beautifully. I know you are so anxious to have everything completed, but Rome wasn't built in a day. So relax and have a vodka on ice and enjoy what you have accomplished. Everything is terrific.

  30. Post rated as funny, interesting, cool! Are the floors ebony stained or painted? It is the look I am leaning toward. The mini-Greek keys will reflect the kitchen floor design. I still cannot believe you both are living here while reno is going at such a furious pace AND you have clients! There has to be some kind of spectacular vacation planned after this is all over.

  44. The before/after is stunning! I like that we can see a glimpse of the kitchen in one of the pictures as well. I had to laugh, because I have boxes to remove every single time I take pictures for the blog!

  45. The entrance way looks beautiful, I love the black wall and the secretary desk and mirrors are a perfect fit. I know it must be so much work to stage an area in the midst of all of the chaos. The home is really starting to look like your home, and I love the kitchen floors. It is all coming to together my dear, some homes take years to get to where the owner loves them. You have been doing a ridiculous amount of work in such a very short time, the two of you must be exhausted. Give yourself some credit, look at all that you have accomplished, would have take me years. hugs Tobey

  61. Very chic, Suzan. I love it. I went back and read your posts on the secretary transformation and the mirrors. Okay, the mirror thing. . .totally me. Honestly, I consider myself fairly smart, but there are times I just have a "duh" moment that makes me wonder if I've had a brain injury that everyone, including me, has missed. Have a super weekend. ~ Nancy
