The Armoire is now complete ( except for the glass knobs but I don't think I've ever shown a piece in it's entirety lol )
As much as I really loved it the way it was before - it needed an update because it was badly marked up with the move - and being shoved into an unused room with tons of boxes and pictures...........and it can always be changed back to this - it's only paint and it's what I do after all :)
It seemed just a little too " elegant " this way -
And I was looking for " fun " for it's new room
AND what you don't see in that photo is that I never painted the interior ( I'm a master of disguise like that )
For some reason, when they're pieces I'm going to keep, I never seem to finish them
Any way it's now freshly painted inside and out - and my Paris wallpaper was applied to the back wall
( I've been hoarding that wallpaper for so long you wouldn't believe - time to use it already ) and it's more
suiting for this room ( which will be mostly used by 2 little ones when they have sleepovers ! )
It looks like I stopped 3/4's of the way up - but there's a ledge there - I may wall paper it right to the top but it's going to be difficult because the top curves and there's frames and ugggghhh.
Shelves ( 2 of them ) still have to go in there so maybe it won't matter after all ?
John says - It's nice - but it won't show when you put everything in it............
Suzan thinks about that for a minute
Suzan says - Oh go do something - leave me alone !!!
Because, of course, he's absolutely right.( and I'm a blonde )
So you're going to see it before it actually gets used
It adds just the right whimsical ( hidden ) touch, don't you think? ( ok - 3 words that are so overused in Bloglandia and that's one of them - Whimsical - the other 2 would be Awesome and Pop of Color ) I use all three so don't be offended by my observation LOL
But isn't this the most whimsical wall paper? Don't you just love the pop of color? I think it's awesome if I do say so myself
want to see how this looked when I saw it in a shop? ( packed to the brim with Elvis tchotchke's )
H.I.D.E.O.U.S. - you really have to have some sort of vision to be in this business let me tell you.
Or lack there of LOL - it actually hurts my eyes to look at the before.
lets look at the after again to erase that completely from your mind
and then to tie the little bits of red and black into the pale blue and white room - I'm picking 2 of these up
they're just small enough to have one on the side of the bed and the other at the foot.
Much love,
I'll be at these fabulous parties this week!

That is an awesome makeover, Suzan. Love the whimsical touch the paper brings to the piece. I'm trying to work in all the of those terms. Lol Honestly, I love everything about it and you'll know that lovely paper is at the back and so will we!
ReplyDeleteGood Monday morning to you! I think the cabinet is looking pretty sweet with that wallpaper inside it. And yes, it was a bit hideous when you purchased it. I love the round floor mats. So fun and the graphics kind of go with the Paris paper. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it, Suzan! I would have definitely used that gorgeous wallpaper inside (hey, it meets all the criteria... whimsical, awesome, and with a pop of color)~ and then just stuffed the cabinet a little less full so that the paper peeks through. You can always put a couple of hooks on the sides of the cabinet to hand some of your beautiful linens from or put a coat rack hook next to it.
ReplyDeleteDrop dead gorgeous. So glad to have discovered your blog!!!
xo,
Lin
She's beautiful and I love the Paris wallpaper, the perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
OMG, it's gorgeous Suzan I love that wallpaper. I wish I had the patience to wallpaper backs of furniture!
ReplyDeleteMary @ Orphans With Makeup
I absolutely love it!!!! Everything about it!!!! You have such vision Suzan, it is absolutely gorgeous!!!! The Paris wallpaper is the perfect touch, I too am so glad I found your blog!! It is a daily dose of sunshine for me!!! Love ya girl, your sense of style and especially your sense of humor!!!!! You make me smileππππππ Have a blessed day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I think I would have to display something so I could see it. It's so pretty even without shelves. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI don't mind where the paper stopped. It is not jarring. I think it puts more focus on the arch. So so pretty! I'm just loving those doorless armoires. ( I really wrote "armless". That just shows that I think furniture is animated.) xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt is so whimsical and love the pop of color in the paper and of course you are awesome so there you go!!!! Seriously it looks so pretty and fun. Love this. I will put my towel in there when I come to float in the pool!
ReplyDeleteKris
Wow, Suzan, I soooo love it. It`s gorgeous. Love the Paris wallpaper in the back.

ReplyDeleteIt looks, well I would say awesome, but my other go to's are pretty or great lol. I do use pop of colour but prefer lovely to whimsical haha. Anyways it's new look is... charming and fresh.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love it ( and I'm completely coveting your wallpaper OMG)! Somehow your going to have to show some of it. It is whimsical, awesome, and has a great POP of color. Lol. Perfect!

ReplyDeleteSwoon! So lovely! Great choice on the wall paper.
ReplyDeleteSuzan, how awesomely whimsical with just the right pop of color! Okay, I'm in love with that wallpaper. Beautiful cabinet...beautiful makeover. I think "beautiful" could be #4.
ReplyDeleteMarie@The Interior Frugalista
What an "awesome" cabinet, Suzan! The wallpaper is perfect for this and adds that bit of "whimsy" to it. Got nothing on the third one. ; )
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!! You created the most WHIMSICAL piece for your guest room! Love the POP OF COLOR you added with the wallpaper. Way to go Suzan!

Love the wallpaper. Just the perfect amount of whimsy. The pops of color on the rug will add a lot to the room. The whole room is going to be awesome!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it. So nice.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love it Suzanne! Thanks for sharing on the Thursday Blog Hop! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWell, Suzan, it's another fabulous piece. I love the wallpaper and that the armoire is open -- without doors. I was going to say it's "whimsical and awesome with a pop of color", but no way I'm going to leave that comment now. ;-) I'd like to invite you to share your armoire and other guest room posts at Every Room In the House. We're partying in the guest room the month of June. Here's the link:http://www.ajoyfulcottage.com/2014/06/every-room-in-house-party-6.html
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll come. ~ Nancy
Found this on myturnforus link party and I LOVE THIS! You did a fabulous job. It is simply gorgeous and I really love the wallpaper the most. It's a bummer that you can't still see it when the armoire is full, but at least you'll get a sweet peek at it every now and then.
ReplyDelete~Jenise @ DIYFunIdeas.com

ReplyDeleteThe paper is a wonderful touch. It's like wearing pretty undies. No one knows but you, and it gives you a little thrill.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think "kiddos" and "amazing" are the blog words that irk me. (And I'm guilty of using "amazing" - but it's because I am! hahaha!)
That is just enchanting! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan, just hopping by to let you know that I will be featuring you at SYC this week.
