So I simply bought a spring tension rod and used that instead -
I haven't even removed the door yet because I wasn't even sure if I'd like it
But I do !
I think I like it !
( I'm a little bit country )
The rings are too big for this purpose - I have to find smaller ones ( or get creative )
And I haven't even removed the door because I may not like it tomorrow
Again I used a tablecloth - I simply folded it in half and the best part of that is?
I can whip it off when we're having supper LMHO !!!
What do you think?
Suzan says - Do you like it?
John says - I think it's better if I don't say anything at all
Suzan says - You don't like it?????
John says - Who hangs a table cloth on a cabinet door?
Suzan says - Half of the blogmosphere, that's who
John says - You all scare me
Here's the table cloth on the door in case you've forgotten - he shakes his head every time he walks by it.
I won't tell him I've just ordered another one from Amazon.....................but I may wrap MYSELF in the next one LOL
I found this jug over the holidays - and he doesn't get why I'm keeping wooden spoons in something
that's clearly meant for WATER either.
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone -
( by the way - I'm a little bit rock & roll too )
Big hugs,
Me

Omigosh, your kitchen is looking so adorable!!!! Love the checked fabric. xoxoxox
ReplyDeleteI think the curtain looks cute and I also use spring rods for many curtains in our house! One is even on a table in the living room. The water pitcher is sweet!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, I love the buffalo check fabric.
ReplyDeleteI like that cupboard curtain, it ties everything together. John is the funniest man ever!
ReplyDeleteI think it's cute. And you better keep an eye on John. I hear that this is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. LOL
ReplyDeleteI like it! There is just something fun about black and white checks and it makes the perfect cabinet curtain. What would John do without you to shake up his proper world? Live a boring life, I'm sure! Lol. I'm getting ready to move things around at the farm. I'm hoping the weather is decent enough to go to Canton the end of the month I have a "to look for" list that's growing. Have a good rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Cecilia
Thanks Cecilia ! It's not permanent which is probably the best part for someone like me who changes things up on a weekly basis LOL !!!
DeleteIt's cold in Texas????
xoxo
I really like curtained cupboards, I think it softens the kitchen look, the color is perfect isn't it, the jug says water but what the heck, keep em' guessin ', thats what I say, lol
ReplyDeleteI like it! I love checks anyway. And the one on the door is great too. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love it, it brings the checkered pattern from one side to the other. It looks very frenchie! BTW ai have that jug, I have been using it for flower bouquets (can't stand seeing the stocks in a clear vase), but now you've given me a new idea. Thanks. Patty
ReplyDeleteThat's super cute! I used to use two black and white checkerboard tablecloths for my dining room curtains at our old house (so I love this idea :) )
ReplyDeleteI love it....black and white buffalo checks look good ANYwhere.
ReplyDeleteExcuse me while I go to order MY tablecloth from Amazon. :)
Is the CLASSIC BLACK AND WHITE TABLECLOTH listed on Amazon the one you ordered?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't say BUFFALO but looks like the one you have.
Thanks...
I think it is perfect and so is your kitchen. Men!!! They just don't get it but how much time do they spend in the kitchen anyway.
ReplyDeleteWell in this house John's in and out of it a lot actually - mostly around the fridge but still......................lol
DeleteThanks so much Marlene !
xoxo
I think it's perfect! Lol! I love the conversations you & the hubby have:) typical guy!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rhonda lol !!!
DeleteTo answer the question you asked Cecilia....yep, it's a little cold here. At least for us ! Nothing like it is up north. A few days ago it was 81 and now it's into the low 40's. But I'm a bit south of Cecilia, so she's probably colder, with a chance of a few snowflakes tonight. **** Suzan, I think you need a few more tablecloths.... throw one across the couch for snuggling and maybe put up another as a shower curtain. He'll freak ! HA HA !
ReplyDeleteLove your kitchen!! I think the curtain looks great over the cabinet...gives the kitchen a farmhouse feel to it.
ReplyDelete~Cindy
Love the buffalo check!! I too, use one of those little spring rods under my farm sink! They do the trick~~~Your kitchen is gorgeous!! Blessings~~~
ReplyDeleteLooks great, but do be careful so when you use the oven that the rubber end of your spring rod doesn't get too hot and melt. Wouldn't be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteDon't know what size your rings are but you could try shower curtain rings. They may be a bit smaller than what you have now.
metal end caps is what I was trying to think of for your extension rod and can be painted black to blend in with your stove
ReplyDeleteLooks good to me! I'm loving everything black and white lately and a touch of greenery. Your kitchen is so pretty Suzan!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous Suzan. I love it dearly.
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect. I love a curtain or tablecloth in a kitchen!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome Suzan! I really love the black and white.
ReplyDeleteOh those men! Clueless, I tell ya...clueless! Love the plaid on the cabinet and adore it on the door (no pun intended)! And now I am thinking of Donny & Marie.... ;) Jane
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! And where did you find that nifty cutting board that sits over your stove burners?
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicki !
DeleteThe cutting board is from Ikea - they're great !
XOX
This is so cute, I love this idea and it adds so much character. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
ReplyDeleteCute, I love the buffalo check in black and white--such visual impact. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteSuzan... I LOVE this! The fabric is perfect! And I'm crazy about the curtain at the door too. I remember in the old homes they used to put up curtains on their doorways. Everything you've done to the kitchen is wonderful. I can't imagine what else you could possibly do. But, no doubt you'll have some fun to show us in now time!
ReplyDeleteHere's to a day filled with extraordinary creativity!
I always love having you share with us at Project Inspire{d}! [hugs]
So Cute Suzan! Love it!
ReplyDeleteha, ha, we gotta keep them guessin, right? Love the curtain! I did this same thing on two cabinets in my basement kitchen and love it. Mine is red check. I actually really like the rings. Didn't think of that. I sewed a casing on mine. You either love the look or don't. My youngest daughter told me that was the only thing she didn't really like about the kitchen. Thought it was a little cheesy. I almost wanted to say, "want a little cheese with that whine?". Like a good mom, I refrained. lol! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Hi Suzan, I found you through Jann's Daily Cup. Very cute and very country looking, it all makes perfect sense to me. I've always the loved the look of a sink skirt in a country kitchen. And checks beside, oh! I've done the same thing in my kitchen under a portion of the counter where there is no cabinet, I use it as storage for large appliance and things I've boxed that doesn't fit in the cupboards. Tension rods are amazing. That's a great way to add privacy for your entry door. I've used a tension rod and fabric shower curtain that matches my bedroom comforter set in the doorway (no door) to our walk-in bedroom closet area. Oh, and pottery pitchers are the cutest containers for everything from flowers to cooking utensils, maybe a doily or finger tip towel draped over the top side. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteYour little curtain looks darling and you know I love a new sew project! It's been a week....is it still up or did you already change your mind?
ReplyDeleteI like the check curtain.... it looks nice. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're very rock and roll, even if you're in the country :) poor John he needs an iPad and blog lovin so he realises you're not crazy :) looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. Brings me back to my grandmother's kitchen. She had green gingham covering the area under the sink.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan - that's where I should have it I guess - under the sink !
Deletexoxo
I like it. Was thinking about taking off the cabinet doors under the sink just to do this but who knows if I will.
