So............sometimes I buy things because I like them.
Even though I have no idea where I'll put it - even if it sits in it's packaging for years ( sick I tell you - I'm S.I.C.K. )
It's a disorder.
One of thousands I've acquired over the years.
I think it's number 1344 actually.
( I have a disorder that consists of numbering my disorders too )
There was a time when I had a closet filled with clothes that had their tags on them for so long that they were no longer in style.
Shoes that never hit the pavement.
Coats that never had a breeze touch them.
Sometimes I wonder where it came from ( the disorder ) and then I quickly push the thought out of my mind because what if it stems from another disorder - OMG - it's too much !
I'm a lot better today.
I'm a lot wiser today.
I'm a lot older today...................
Still - every now and then I'll find myself putting something in a cart that I have no intention of using now because eventually I'll find a perfect spot for it.............it's inevitable.
It's also the truth - it's factual - ( everything is satisfactual )
Like the Mortorp Decal Clock I spotted at Ikea probably 1 1/2 - 2 years ago.
I thought it was adorable.................and even though I had nowhere to put it - I knew I'd want to put it somewhere - somehow - someday.
And now that the front ( enclosed ) porch is getting a makeover - I've found the perfect spot !
And Ikea doesn't make them any more - so sometimes having disorders is not such a bad thing, right?
I'm adding another " rule " to " life's rules "
There's 2 sections in this room - one on either side of the front door - I'm feverishly working on the other side now - with oil primer to cover 70's wood paneling - in 35 degrees heat.....................( 95 for most of you guys )
I should have bought a couple of those fans I saw last fall on sale - that I really didn't need at the time..................
But one side's finished ( except for window coverings and cushions for the built in benches )
Have a wonderful day everyone !
Hugs,
Me

ReplyDeleteThat is cool, I've never seen one like it. I was waiting to read what John thinks of the clock. LOL about not buying the fans!
ReplyDeletelove the clock ... love the sigh .. love that I am not the only crazy person around!
ReplyDeleteOh Suzan this is too sweet. LOVE! So creative and fun.
ReplyDeleteKris
Well.... that was weird.... I was typing my comment and all of a sudden your blog page did a somersault and my typing disappeared.... so, I'll start over, shall I?
ReplyDeleteEvery time I read a blog (mostly yours) I find that I'm not as nuts as my hubby thinks I am. I am reassured knowing that there are thousands of others out there who have the same "disorders" as I have. I feel so much better now. Thanks, Suzan!!
Zip a dee do dah, zip a dee day! I do that sometimes or I don't let Bruce throw away old broken down wheelbarrows and wagons because, I just might plant flowers in them someday! Love the clock decal, it looks wonderful! I feel your pain....I'm digging up the side yard in 90+ degree heat. :-/
ReplyDeleteso stinkin' cute, i can stand it.....it looks perfect in your house.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that decal before - how much fun is that and a perfect compliment to your Rules sign! It's no surprise I didn't see the decal because like you I have a disorder. Mine is called IKEAitis. The symptoms are phobia of mazes, inability to follow arrows in the direction in which they are intended, and break out in hives upon arrival in the parking lot.
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone. I have the same disorder. My husband just shakes his head trying to understand it. The clock looks perfect in that spot.
ReplyDeleteWell they have they're own set of disorders Ellen LOL -
DeleteThanks SO much xoxo
You're not alone in your buy now...use later life rule! LOL! I do the same thing and always do end up using whatever it was that I had to have. Love this clock decal...it's too cute! Looks perfect in that spot too! The heat has been almost unbearable this year...and August is usually worse here in Florida! UGH...at least I am blessed to have air conditioning. There are so many who don't have that luxury. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteYu shld add amouse running up the clock! Great idea and pssst - I do the same thing. Dave says I'm OCD when shopping. But he does the same thing in a glf shop. xo Patty
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone and what comes along with saying that is my to do list keeps getting longer as well ...lol So cute by the way ....now all you need is to add a lil mouse trying to climb up the clock ....lol
ReplyDeleteWith my luck a real mouse will climb up that clock Pati LOL !!!
DeleteThanks so much xoxo
I was you years ago, but something changed. I can go to a any kind of store and things don't seem to have the pull they did. I can admire things, but I don't necessarily have to bring them home. Every once in awhile, I will bring home a mistake, but not as often. With cleaning things out, I am very aware of the mistakes I used to make. I clean it out and move one...no use dwelling on all of the money I spent on things that I didn't use. I'm not finished with my cleaning out, but I am plodding along. There is still much to do. Katie will be on break from school for about 4 weeks or so, and we will be cleaning out a little more! Yay!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan!!
ReplyDeleteSoooooo, is that the front part of the house I adopted as soon as you bought the house as My Reading Room?:)
I love your clock!! Awesome idea!! You're brilliant!! And for your illness...Take two glasses of wine and never call the doctor because it's called being a woman!!
Enjoy the rest of the week!!

Hey I love your disorders! But remind us what is disorder number 982 again? And the clock is so cool! I might be tempted to have colored felt pens for people to color it with!😅! Stay cool!
ReplyDelete# 982 is answering people's comments in a timely manner LOL
DeleteThanks so much Mary Anne !

I saw something sort-of, kind-of similar years ago in a magazine and loved it so much I tore it out and saved it so I could replicate it one day. Do you think I ever did? (nope). Your version is adorable!!! Love it so much and wish I could somehow tear out this blog page and save it. Oh . . . Pinterest.

There you go.....buy now, use later.....is a good motto. It looks great there in your 'new' sunroom. Can't wait to see it all done. What a nice place to relax and also welcome your guests. It's really cooled down here today with rain and only 19. We've been so spoiled with the heat and humidity the past week or so. Keep cool!
ReplyDeleteThat clock is so cool! See, it's a good thing you bought it when you did even though you didn't need it at the time :-) I do that too :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the clock!!
ReplyDeletesuper cute Suzan! love your porch, great space

Thanks SO much Fiona !!!

Suzan, this is so cute - I love it. Would love it if you linked it up to our DIY Wall Art Blog hop link and to Instagram with the #Wallarthop. Thanks for joining us and sharing at Share It One More Time. Cathy
ReplyDeleteI think you may be related to my mom, Suzan. Do you have any Polish Jablonski in your family??? She has the same clothing and shoes never worn/tags still on disorder. Have you thought about building a base for the clock? It looks like it's floating above the baseboard... That is my disorder, a ridiculous sense of thinking that what I write is funny, har :)
ReplyDeleteSuzan this is adorable!!! Disorders you say???? I never knew what to call my obsession of buying things and thinking it's on Sale ....so I will think of something to do with it!!! Now I know "it's a disorder" lol will have to share that one with my hubby...think he will buy it?
ReplyDeleteI love your clock decal; such a fun idea!! Glad to see that you found a place to show it off.
ReplyDeleteYou always make me laugh Suzan and I love your sense of fun. This is a great post and I'm all for buying what you may need in the future. Now everyone will see this post and want one of those clocks, but they won't be able to get one! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your gorgeousness at Shabbilicious Friday each week. We love it. I'm delighted to be featuring your clock at this week's party.Hugs ~ Kerryanne
I remember when you first wrote about that decal. It does look perfect on your porch! I've got that disorder myself, A little less severe, maybe, but I've got it nonetheless! Thanks for linking up at Best of the Weekend!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the post; signed up for newsletter. Am disappointed I have to design my own clock stencil now, since I can not buy one. I understand the buying for when attitude. I had a glass lamp shade like for a torche` (sp) for about 8 years, finally found a lamp base (at the county dump) rewired the lamp, set it up and 3 days later my kids rough housing knocked it over and broke the shade. I did enjoy the lamp for those 3 days. I gave the base away, was not going to hold on to it for years looking for a shade.
ReplyDeleteThanks SO much Linda !
DeleteOh my gosh about your lamp shade - but isn't that so typical of something you really love LOL !
Hope you took pics of it LOL !

Oh Suzan - I think I have a disorder too, except that I didn't know it was a disorder until you told me it was so now I'm feeling kinda sick. Nothing like not knowing your sick until someone tells you and when you find out the symptoms start feeling really, really bad! LOL! I'm glad you saved this clock for this time and this place because it is perfect.
ReplyDeleteLove & hugs to you,
Patti
LMHO !!! And you didn't have to pay a therapist to find out !
DeleteThanks so much Patricia !

Whenever I read your blog always have good chuckle, it's as good reading comments your readers leave you. I have to read them all. Did miss conversation with John tho this time.
ReplyDeleteThink it's hilarious that us women buy things when we see them in case we don't find it again, whatever in the devil "it" is. We have whole shed full of "it's" out in lower yard. Hubs keeps nagging me to clean out shed, in the heat? Is he nuts? Maybe I'd lose some weight, sure could stand to, 15 lbs. Been thinking it's time for me to have a "chubby" time for couple years then hopefully go back to slender time again. Now if I could only stay away from Burger King, ice cream cones, ju-ju fish, etc. Have great sun summer week
