CHRISTMAS cages !

CHRISTMAS DECOR FRONT DOOR

I used these  " birdcage tea light holders " in the summer in our sitting area in the back yard.
John was putting the last of the outdoor things away yesterday - so I grabbed them before they were buried in the shed

and thought I would Christmasify them using left over bits and pieces of garland that has seen much better days.............in fact they were in a " trash " pile

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas................

I decided to decorate a little earlier this year and take advantage of the warmer weather...........usually I'm working out there when my fingers are so numb and cold they're threatening to fall off

John says - This is ridiculous Suzan - it's November - no one else on the street has their decorations up
Suzan says - I know - but I can't do it the cold anymore - unless maybe this year you think you could do it?
John says - Well.......I suppose it's not that early.

There's nothing like getting John to see my way of thinking like asking him to do something.

When everyone else is out there battling the fierce winds and biting cold and blizzards - I'll just tsk tsk and open a switch !  ( although those weather forecasts seems to be starting later and later in the year - last year in December - Montreal looked like Texas )  but if it happens ............................I'm ready !

And the decor is crying out for a light dusting of snow all over them

RED DOOR CHRISTMAS

I bought that plant at Home Depot............2 of them actually so that Christmas tree on the right side will be moved - it doesn't look " right " and I'll put the second plant in it's place.
I may even stick battery operated tea lights in the cages ( the ones with a remote )

Did I mention I'm in flip flops?

Ok - excuse me but I have windows - a lot of them - to hang wreaths on !
And then in December I can sing.............

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the decor is so delightful
And because I did it long ago..............
Let it snow
                Let it snow
                                Let it snow.

Have a wonderful day everyone
Hugs,
Me

  1. Aren't you the smart girl. It looks lovely and you can sit back and relax while I freeze my fingers off doing my outside decorating. We had the first sprinkle of snow here today and I'm glad I at least have the chicken coop ready for the winter.

  2. um, are you happy with that Red door now...it looks gorgeous! Love the balls, love when a non-plan comes together and teensy lights will be perfect. I'm going to have to work around 16" of snow and ice now. So only decorations will be ones I can work on in the house...arthritis and cold temps aren't compatible for sure...Beautiful entry, Suzan! And I LOVE the red door!

  3. Oh it looks very pretty and festive, Suzan! Love all the greenery! I had planned to start last week and would have been a good ways along by now, but my husband and both both got the CRUD, which is going around here like an epidemic. I actually feel a little better today, so I'm going to try and get some things done inside. It's quite cold here, but it was in the 70's(F) last week, so go figure.

I like your little song at the end -- have a good week. :)

  9. Gorgeous! I am so envious of all the decorating going on all over blogland! I'm not doing much this year due to leaving Christmas day to visit my daughter in Prague and not returning until the day before I return to work! I decided to keep it very simple this year. But, I am ready to decorate something!! Have a blessed day and week ahead!

  10. What a great idea to decorate these tea light balls for Christmas. They looks sweet! I have all my decor done outside and lights up too, but only the white lights are turned on....the coloured ones will go on next week. :) All decked inside too except the tree and I'm trying to decide what to do for the dining table. We have a big snow storm coming here tomorrow with 10 -15 cm. of snow. Woohoo! I'm not really looking forward to it snow but in some ways I am. It won't last long though. Have a great week Suzan. PS....the greenery etc. looks great with your red door!! (I just had to say that.) :)

Now my dear, you tell John that I have been decorating since the first part of October. My trees, wreaths etc. All up and decorated before the 1st of Nov.

  17. We haved lived all over this country and I am totally with you. As far as being early, any decor the month before is acceptable. Take advantage of the great weather. It was due to storm here and it did overnight up until noon. I just hung our wreath and Dave is digging up my decorated little plug in tree outside the door. We are not finished but better able to decorate this year than last (still in trailer this time ladt year). All your wreaths will look beautiful. Be sure to take a pic with Evan outside the house. Remember to do it every year. It is a vintage idea but will bring back so many memories as the years go by. xo Patty

  19. Oh! You just gave me the nicest gift.....an idea! I have two 'cages' that are about 2' tall, open in the back and will accomodate a 10" flower pot. INstead of winding lighted garland around the two lamp posts at the end of the driveway I'm going to fill them with greens, lights and big red bows. I can control those lamp posts with a switch inside the house. Will send you a picture when they are up. In the meantime I'm sending you a picture of my little great granddaughter, Riley who is one today. We have always called our grandchildren our Treasures and she is the first Jewel in our Treasure Chest. She'll be a big sister in March. Ok....couldnt get it to attach. Will send it via email.

  29. Perfect! Your porch is looking so festive. The only thing I've managed to decorate is my dining room table where half of my Christmas decor has been hanging out for weeks. Good thing we're not hosting Thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party.

  30. This is too funny. Last night I was outside literally freezing my hands off taking photos of my latest project for next week. Metal patio candleholders, just a different shape than yours. I waited to take pictures because yesterday we got that dump of snow.

I love how you decorated yours - they look so festive and so does your house. Very nice! Oh and see how that fabulous red door looks so good with your decor...just say'n!

  32. Suzan, glad you grabbed those balls before they got tucked away! Look fabulous out on your porch! Everything is beautiful. We have the lights on the house, but no trees and porch is still decked out for Thanksgiving. We usually get a few nice days after Thanksgiving and that's when I'll hit it hard. lol! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
