The window frames on the side of the house are metal ..........so I hung the wreaths on the shutters instead.
( which took double the wreaths )
I'm not finished - still have a couple of more windows to do - and I have to figure out how to do the upstairs one on the slanted roof in the front - without dangling out and risk falling flat on my butt.
It was a really windy day - and I was up on a ladder with the wreaths whacking me on the head constantly while I tried desperately to hammer nails in ! I'm telling you people must think of me as the " crazy lady "
around here.
It needed a little snow out there - it snowed in Chicago - in Ontario and in the Maritmes - so East - West and South of us........like we were in a little bubble or something - I decorated with flip flops on !
And so I went to bed thinking " now I need a light dusting of snow - please "
And when I awoke ....................
Oh my gosh - is that all it takes to get what you want?
Do you think it was the " please " ?
Because if it's as simple as that - I have a slew of things I want
Now I'd like peace on earth............please
and while I'm at it
Now I'd like to look 10 years younger...............please
and what the hell - if it's not pushing things too much
Now I'd like to win a lottery - a huge one.........please
( if I can only have one - I'll take peace on earth because I really just can't absorb anymore of the grief and horror that's happening all over the world - especially my beloved Paris )
The snow is melting as I type but it'll be back
Lord knows it'll be back ( no matter what I want ) and really there's nothing like the first snow fall - even if it's a bare minimum - there's nothing like it at all - it's pure magic.
Have a wonderful day everyone !
To all my American friends - hope you have the most wonderful of Thanksgivings !
Big hugs,
Me

Wow, it looks beautiful, Suzan. Love your decorations, and I garantie, no flipflops outside here.
ReplyDeleteHugs from here
What a beautiful post to wake up to, Suzan. I love the look and your home is one that passers-by will stop to take a second look. So, so festive and pretty. Here, near Ottawa, we are still without our first dusting although Ottawa did get it last week. I'd be fine with snow Christmas eve. And yes, I truly believe that that is all it takes. It never hurts to ask. Enjoy your day and thank you for your comforting words yesterday. Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so beautiful! I'm making a Turkey dinner today too...because...well.....you can take the girl out of America, but there will always be a little American left in her.....ALWAYS! <3
ReplyDeleteMy brother does " American " thanksgiving every year too Laurayne !

I love the idea of TWO wreaths per window... they look great on your shutters!!
ReplyDeleteThe wreaths look great ~ who's going to know from the street?! Now I need to go out and get my pic, too.
ReplyDeleteHugs ~
Suzan everything looks so pretty on the front of your cottage. Gorgeous girlfriend. Love that you got the sprinkling of snow to make it even more beautiful. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteKris

ReplyDeleteThanks Pati !

Knock my socks off gorgeous!!! Can you come and do my still 3/4 almost finished house?! xo Patty. ps no snow but cold and sunny. brrrr.
ReplyDeleteDarling! Well done girl! Have a blessed day!
ReplyDelete'Very pretty! I love how the ribbon adds an extra little pop of red! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
ReplyDeleteThose may be cheap but they look fabulous! Wow, really wow. Please be careful putting the ones on the upstairs window. The snow really adds the perfect touch. Wish it would get cooler here and stay that way for awhile. Please. I'm tired of sweating and mosquitos.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder John had to go get so many wreaths. Two on every window...wow looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour house looks absolutely gorgeous!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt really doesn't in " real " life - we have so much further to go with this fixer upper - but it DOES look festive LOL !
DeleteThanks so much
xoxo
The windows look great, especially with those new shutters😀

Thanks so much Pat !

You find the cutest things at the dollar store ! So, see how far gets you when you say "Please" to John, hmmm. It's too hot here. Mid-70's and mugggggy on Thanksgiving, it's crazy. We've gotten to that time of year when we have to use the heater and the a/c in the same day. ugh. Your snow looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the little red wreaths ... they almost sparkle and look so pretty with the sprinkle of snow.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays.

Great job on your decorating skills. Your home s absolutely gorgeous with them red wreaths, ribbon and of course the red door. The black shutters does a wonderful job in showing off your wreaths.
ReplyDeleteYour pics are breathtaking Suzan. Gorgeous. Here's to Peace on Earth, looking younger and winning lotteries! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteYour wreaths look great. I feel the same way about the first snow and, finally, we here in Boulder, Colorado, are getting our first "real" snow. All of those weather reports you've been seeing for snow in Colorado? Hardly any here until now. It is truly lovely this morning. Huge down feather flakes.
ReplyDeleteThanks Teddee !The snow only lasted a day here - it's 14 degrees today ( almost 60 degrees " American lol " but it was nice for that day ! And it wasn't those huge feather down flakes either - lucky you - enjoy them for as long as you can because we both know we'll be sick of them by January LMHO !

How beautiful! I never thought to hang them on the shutters instead of the actual windows. Love!
ReplyDeleteThey look beautiful! No snow here yet in PA / plenty of rain though :(
ReplyDeleteThe snow disappeared quickly and it's been raining here too Deb !
DeleteHope we have some for Christmas ( just Christmas though than it can disappear again )
Thanks !

As I type I am listening to yet another shooting, in California right now. This is so horrible and we have GIT to do somethinhg about all these GUNS!!! I want peace on earth too. 10 years younger and the lottery would be great, but how could we enjoy them with this chaos all around. Anyway, I LOVE these wrewaths!!! They really look terrific. From flip flops to snow, wow:)
ReplyDeleteOh Suzan, that second from the bottom photo is so pretty! Peace on Earth couldn't be more prevalent this holiday season. Like you, I can't absorb more grief either. More shootings today, in San Bernardino, - what is this world coming too? What kind of world are we leaving for our grandchildren? If I were granted one wish, it would be PEACE too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie -
DeleteThat San Bernardino shooting - omg - that San Bernardino shooting................the world's on its axis.
I dispair - I really do

Walk away from the Dollar Tree and put these wreaths up in a classy setting and no more cheesy look. Now this looks very classy. I decided to add red this year. I was ready for red. The Starbucks cup got me thinking of why we have red. To represent Jesus' shedding of blood for everyone in the world--a ew covenant--a new way to have sins wiped away. And as I read the Bible thinking of peace, I reread the angel's message. First was Glory to God in the highest. Then came Peace on earth Goodwill toward man. Let's all try singing and praising God giving our Lord Glory as the highest. Peace on Earth I live very close to where this happened. I'm just sad
ReplyDeleteI'm sad too Gwen - desperately so - I can't get any of it out of my mind - my heart - my soul - I don't recognize the world anymore.
ReplyDeletePrayers for all..........

Your house looks beautiful. I can't believe those are dollar store wreaths! And the snow makes it so picturesque. Not something we see very often here in Georgia. I've never had a white Christmas. This year I will have somewhat of a white Christmas, but it will be white sand. We're spending Christmas in Puerto Rico. Our youngest is graduating from college next week and we're taking a trip before schedules don't allow it. I'll toast to your snow with a mango margarita!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Suzan! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
