Do that to me one more time...............................

That's what my furniture says to me -

I can never get enough of a girl like you ♪♫
Paint me, like you just did, oh baby  ♪
Do that to me once again   ♪♫♪

I don't usually post on the weekends and here I am posting on both days - there's just so much going on with that little guest room !

Last week I asked if I should keep the armoire in the little room - or a dresser - most of you voted for the armoire - so I decided to go with the dresser LMHO - but I did give it a quick makeover anyway - and I do mean quick - as in 20 minutes or so.
Paris Grey - the white was already on it ( when it was duck egg blue )

Dresser makeover - Paris Grey Chalk Paint

This thing is heavy - as in if this thing fell back it would have killed me instantly.  With just my legs sticking out like the wicked witch that I am..................
So heavy that I should have worn depends when we lifted the top piece off to move the bottom piece ( too much information I know )
So heavy - as in I may have popped a blood vessel or two and I can lift heavy things believe me.

My Son dropped in for a visit and I asked if he could help John take the top piece off ( again ) because it wasn't level
He did it himself !!!
Oh my God - I don't know how he did it

Mom says - Did you pee a little when you did that?
Gordie says - Ugghhh Mom - why would I pee?
Mom says - From the weight ?
Gordie says - That's gross - you're my MOTHER - don't talk like that
Mom says - Like what?  Sheesh - it's just pee
Gordie says - You should have worn Depends
Mom says - I know that.........................

But I digress - you didn't come by to hear about my bladder after all.

It's a very light coat of grey actually - some duck egg blue is peaking through here and there but I kind of like that
And I left the white parts as chippy as they were - cutting the painting time in half I'm sure

Paris Grey Chalk Paint Dresser Makeover

It's in the hall landing - and it's ridiculously too big for the space but that's where it's staying until I get the office done - ( and God knows when that'll be - it's the last room to do upstairs and I'm not in the hurry that I should be )  I DO have the perfect spot for it in the reading room downstairs - but JOHN'S t.v. is in the way.

But it suits the space better then the duck egg would have

It can always go back to it sometime in the future - no big deal-ee-o - right?
I DO love the color - it just didn't fit

( I'm writing that because now that I'm looking at it - I'm afraid you're all going to say I shouldn't have touched it )

You can see the original 2 part posts on the first makeover HERE and HERE
I dry brushed a little gray on the 2 interior drawers as well - very little actually.

Paint me - like you just did  ♪
Oh baby...................
Do that to me one more time  ♪♫♪

Now I officially have clothes in my bedroom - in both guest rooms and the upstairs landing

John says - Are you sure you have enough drawers
Suzan says - I could probably use just one more
John says - I think there's a corner in the shed outside we could probably squeeze one more in
John says - It's too much - there's dressers all over the bloody place
John says - It's like living in a shop

Yaddy yaddy yadda

I'm thinking of secretly taping him - so you get the audio

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone -
Hugs,
Me

I can't get rid of it

White chalk paint dressers makeover

Sometimes that happens - I buy a piece to do over and sell and then I
Just.  Can't.  Get.  Rid.  Of.  It.....................

Painted country dresser

This is probably the first time I've bought a piece that had the perfect wood top......................
I did nothing to it - not even wax - because it's that perfect - beautifully aged maple.

and it compliments the pure white ( Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Pure White )

I love that it's an understated piece - not fussy at all -
I only lightly distressed the drawers - I left the frame pristine

I didn't really have the space for it - at all - but once the slip covers arrived, I knew I had to find a place - so I tried different configurations - she ended up tucked into a corner - sorry dresser - this is NOT a time-out - I just have nowhere else to put you.

John says - well that's ridiculous - just sell it - what's the point of it being in the corner hidden away?

WHAT'S THE POINT???

The point IS that I like her ( her name's Mrs. Jones )
And we have a thing going on.....................we both know that it's wrong
but it's much too strong to let it go.................
And I need to keep her
And if the only place I can find for her is tucked into a corner - well - I know ( I know I know I know she'll be there )
And sometimes that's all that matters.

Until the next one comes around that I absolutely HAVE to keep - and then Mrs. Jones is out the door
I'm not very loyal to furniture
Just selfish.

And that's why she's staying exactly where she is ( for now )

Here she was before - seller's photo

She lived with one family since 1945 - so she isn't ready to be flying all over the place anyway - this was a huge adjustment for her as it is

I may not be loyal to furniture - but I certainly have a heart !!!

Have a wonderful day everyone !
Big hugs,
Me.

Another coffee table makeover

Hello !  ( is it me you're looking for ? )

Ok before I type up this post - I have to tell you this -

I had this piece of hair ( bangs? ) that kept getting in my eyes all day - and I kept blowing it out of the way - finally I tried to clip it all back - but this hair kept falling into my eye - it was just a strand - just one single piece of hair - but it wasn't growing out of the top of my head.
IT WAS GROWING OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF MY FOREHEAD - WTH???????????
It's happening - I'm becoming a witch - just waiting for a wart to sprout out on my nose..............

Here we go -
which wicked witch made a coffee table switch

This table is huge - think dining room table with short legs ...............seating for 8 easily

Perfect spot for a cauldron actually ( but alas it's not mine )

After cleaning it with TPS - this lady took 3 coats of paint

after 3 coats and finito !

a little sanding here

and there

LOVE the " pitting " that was already on the table top

It now looks like the paint has worn off after many many decades of cleaning - updated but keeping the look of an older piece ( which it is NOT by the way  - this is clearly a reproduction piece )

Annie Sloan chalk paint - old white - 3 coats
Annie Sloan clear wax

And not only is it hard to get rid of things that I do - it's now getting hard to give things back things that don't even belong to me !!!!!!!!
It's far too big for this place and yet ...................
I want it LOL

Have a good day my pretties -
I've got some serious plucking to do

Much love

p.s.

If I have to become a witch - I want to be her

not the one below ( sorry - most of you won't know this particular witch - but she's the premier of my province AND I don't like her OR her politics - which are so divisive that she has neighbors hating neighbors - family members arguing with family members - communities distancing themselves with communities.
People screaming at people on the streets to PARLE FRANCAIS - people screaming back - THIS IS CANADA - I'LL SPEAK ENGLISH IF I WANT - awful - really just an awful time in this province's history and very very heartbreaking to be a witness to it all.  Civic unrest is in the air.  People that once switched back and forth from either language now stubbornly refuse to speak the other.  It's like a modern day West Side Story - except without the choreography.
I know you have your problems in the States - but really - I'd take yours any day of the week over what's happening here right now.  We have an election in a couple of weeks - and though she's trying to make this a secular state ( no religious symbols allowed to be worn by government employees AND hoping employers will ban it in the private sectors too ) I can guarantee you there will be a LOT OF PRAYING going on for the next week or so - one big fat hell of a lot - that she's voted out of power.
She's the head of a Separatist party - hell bent on removing Quebec from Canada.
If people can't speak French it's their problem.
If people can't speak English it's their problem.
If people want to wear a cross - or a scarf - or a kippah it shouldn't be any of the governments
business.
Other then the garb that covers the complete body and face - for safety purposes - I could care less what people wear or believe.
It's a different world now - something a lot of people have a very difficult time with - but until we learn to embrace the new way - we are hell bent to live one miserable existance.
I don't see such a difference in a government that MAKES people wear religious symbols - and a government that MAKES them take it off.
You can't - you simply cannot - leglislate RESPECT - you have to earn it Madame -
Ask Putin .........................

I may or may not be arrested for calling her a witch in English instead of French - so this next sentence is for her

MADAME MAROIS - VOUS ETES UNE SORCIERE  (by law - all French words have to be larger than English words - think I'm joking?  )

I'm counting on all of you guys bailing me out - if and when I'm arrested for this  ( think I'm joking? )

In the meantime - I'm working on a musical - entitled, what else?
QUEBEC - THE MUSICAL..............
I wonder if these guys are still available?

And if I have any Separatists that follow me - and who may be offended by this - well you can simply
SEPARATE from my blog - no referendum required to do so.

Please keep in mind this is not about French People - or English People - this is about a government and the percentage of people who voted them in.  The French and English - for the most part - get along incredibly well - there are many many French people in my world whom I love dearly -
The Government?
Not so much
xoxo

Graphite - take me away

Good morning everyone !

Part 2 of the bedroom set makeover - I even have a before for you this time !

I have to tell you I've enjoyed every single second of this makeover - truly !

I wish I had a place to stage them properly - I'm doing this smack in the middle of a room being built
Who does that?
Obviously I do - but who else does that?

At least the details are renovation free :)
Black and white photo anyone?

beautiful details in the drawers -

a place to keep change..............

and a VERY feeble attempt to stage it - but look at that beautiful waxed sheen !

can we " frost ": the reno's out of there?

nah - didn't think so - anyway - it is what it is - which is a dresser makeover - being done in a house makeover - by a woman who needs a complete makeover.....................

so this is what you get - but hey - it's one hell of a better pic than you got with the ladies dresser
here

Have to run and tackle those end tables now :)

Paint used :  Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - GRAPHITE - and clear wax

Have a wonderful Monday

To distress or not to distress...................

As you know furniture talks to me ( sometimes it sends me mixed messages - and I have to start all over again - other times it's clear as a bell - right from the beginning )

There are pieces I do where distressing would take away from the beauty of the piece - and so they are left as is such as this one ( HERE ) instead of distressing I did a " driftwood " finish on top using wax and left the body clean

Some pieces are content with just a quick white wash ( super easy white wash HERE )

or dark wax for a quick " antiqued dirty look " HERE

applying dark wax to furniture

And then some pieces ask for distressing ( " cheating " distressing HERE )

and every now and then one whispers  "please, go all the way " ( HERE )

But the piece I'm working on right now?

It was begging for just a little distressing around the corners and details - and to precisely do that I used my sander and tilted it to an angle that would only " outline " the edges................
Of course you can do it by hand - but this took seconds for each drawer ( as opposed to precious minutes LOL )

There's something particularly beautiful with ASCP Graphite and small bits of wood peaking through -
the old worn look is so Restoration Hardware ( ish )  -

it's not even waxed yet and you can see how this looks so naturally aged, right?

and the great thing about this is that IF you decide you DON'T like the distressed look - it's simply a quick coat around the corners and it's removed in minutes.  I think a lot of people are afraid when painting furniture - but there's nothing you can't fix - absolutely nothing :)

oh oh - it would appear electrical sanders speak to me too - I can hear it yelling from downstairs -
" hurry up will ya - come finish this piece already "

I'm coming - I'm coming !!!
Sorry have to sign off now - these things are very temperamental :)

( I had to google temperamental - spell check kept correcting me - who else thought it was spelled
TEMPERMENTAL LMHO??????????????

I hate spell check - it's removed another false belief I had in myself..................
