Hope Springs Eternal

Here's what happens when you dare to dream........................

You start to feel alive again
You develop a skip in your walk
You smile. Frequently.
You're heart beats a little quicker with excitement
Your worries seem to take a back seat
And your wrinkles start to miraculously fade away
( ok that last part is completely ridiculous - but all the others?  100% true. )

Suzan and Dorothy
Deuxieme Debut & Simply Vintageous by Suzan are joining forces
They have a dream...................
"Painting furniture 101" ( for dummies - by dummies )

Even as we stood overwhelmingly looking at this - we knew

As we spent yesterday cleaning out the space - and as we realized how much more there is left to do - we knew, as the sun set softly on the trees outside, we knew without a doubt -

As we swept and carried out garbage - and rearranged things - and looked at each other covered in sawdust and grime, with our hair up in dollar store clips and our hands full of paint - we knew with all certainty -

As we decided on what should stay and what should go - as we laughed - and pulled our hair -
and looked at each other thinking " what the hell are we doing " we knew,

And as we collapsed at the end of the day eating smoked meat sandwiches on paper towels at our
PAINTING STATION -  we most definitely knew

That as Emily Dickenson so eloquently put it

Hope really is that thing with feathers...................................................and we are one step closer to opening our painting class.

Sorry John Lennon - although you most definitely need love
It isn't all you need at all - you need hope - beautiful-wonderful-lovely-bring-you-back-to-life-again HOPE

( and the most special of thanks to David and John who are standing by our sides through the entire mess
and getting as filthy as us in the process - we really are blessed )

Have a great day everyone - fill it with hope if you can ( I highly recommend it )

Memories may be beautiful and yet..............

I was lamenting to someone last week about the sorry state of today's television ( this seems to be something I'm doing far too frequently - hope I'm not going to become one of the cantankerous old ladies - banging her cane on the ground and mumbling about the good old days lol )

But I'm 53 - and so I can still remember when t.v. was good - when t.v. was exceptional really - and that's what makes todays t.v. so hard to digest I suppose.
Care to take a walk down memory lane with me?  Ok - it's a long walk - but if you're over 50, I promise you it's a walk worth taking - c'mon take my hand - let's drift back in time....................
I picked the 60's - so probably watched most of these between 7 and 10 years old - but I remember them all perfectly ( well I suppose reruns helped my memory a lot )
Laying on the living room floor with my brother ( no converters back then - that's what the kids were for )
with pliers on the knob of the t.v. because for some reason that was always the first thing that broke - kind of like the starter switch on todays bar b q's - and we often had to get up and adjust the rabbit ears ( sometimes that was a cleverly bended wire clothes hanger lol )

Count them - 36 shows - and I'm sure I've missed at least that many as well,
Now can you understand my grief over today's shows?
3 Networks brought us all of this by the way - shows that the entire family watchrd together
on the ONE t.v. set in the house.
With 1 commercial at the start of the show - 1 halfway through - and 1 at the end
I don't even know how many stations I have, there's that many - and I can name on one
hand ( barely ) how many shows I actually like..................
Oh and by the way?
The 70's were just as good!
