Kitchen lights

John says - A couple of German helmets just arrived from Amazon.........................

Kitchen Island, Lighting, Black

John accidently shattered one of the ones we already had in the kitchen with a plank of wood

Suzan says - Well if you hadn't broken one of the Kitchen lights I wouldn't have had to order a different set !
John says - Couldn't you have just replaced the one I broke ?
Suzan says - Nope - I don't want to be changing them every 6 months................these are indestructible.
John says - That's why they wore them in wars.

This is what we had
But to be honest with you - being glass - and being in a small kitchen - they constantly had to be cleaned.

I feel like I have to keep letting everyone know that the word MANGE is EAT in French - not MANGE as in the disease LOL !!!
If any of you decide to visit Montreal - you'll think all the restaurants have a warning on their windows of an outbreak of MANGE LMHO !!!

Now I have to wait patiently for my Son to come and install the helmets

( War is hell on the home front too - and God only knows what a woman goes through..................)

And that song ?
When my Son was 6 years old he was obsessed with it - used to go to bed with a tape recorder listening to it - and if that's not aging myself I don't know what is !!!
THAT'S how we used to listen to personalized music LOL - long before the ipod was invented.

If anyone's interested, the lights were 39.99 each - so even if this whole vintage industrial thing is a trend - at least they don't cost an arm and a leg...................

What you can't see in the site's pictures is that they're " distressed " along the edges - revealing a little bronze color

that goes nicely with this newest project I'm working on !

Have a wonderful day all
Much love,
Me

    1. Thanks Karen - great price too !
The original ones I have up there cost 24.99 each - but a few days after I bought them they almost tripled in price ...........I think these are going to be more practical in a house where renos ( and accidents ) are part of daily life LOL

  4. Double duty: fabulous looking lighting, or head protection in case of an invasion. Good thinking.

  5. You can put the lights on your heads if you decide on a true War of the Roses...like the movie version. I'm picturing what one's hair would look like sticking out the sides. Not good.

  6. We call those barn lights. Love them - they are similar to my kitchen lights. And at least it wasn't an eight track your son listened too. :)

  7. Love the looks of the new fixtures and price isn't bad either.
I hate cleaning my glass chandelier above my dining room table. Not only do I have to clean the outside of the glass but have up inside of the glass. :{ and just when you think it's really nice and clean, you turn on the light and quick shut it off again so that I can't see the streaks.
Susan, changing fixtures is an easy thing to do. You shut off the breaker to that area, undo the screws and then the wires and take down the old and put up the new; wiring your colored wires together, screw your wire caps back on, and screw your light plate back up in the ceiling and then turn your breaker back on. Super easy

  16. We took out one arm of a running ceiling fan setting up our 4-poster bed in an old farm house with really high ceilings. I feel your pain! "Mange" is the first thing I noticed in the picture. Thank you for the explanation. I thought you were going for a funny with the word "manage". Love the new light fixture.

  17. Suzan, good choice. I have one very similar in my potting shed, for the same reason. It's indestructible. (I hope for you too.) In my kitchen I've been fretting about the lighting over the island for about a year for the same reason. Since the glass is like a bowl it gets filthy, and it is super hard to remove. But since it is a small kitchen, I have been unable to find what I want without having to change other things. Because everything is in close proximity, the light needs to coordinate somewhat with the light in the nearby opens rooms.

  18. Is it OK if I laugh at the translation "luminaire suspendu"? Or is the language police going to come and arrest me? Whatever they are called, they are beautiful!

  19. There are so many wonderful overhead fixtures these days and they seem to be used everywhere.
