Say there were 2 friends that were trying to start a business together - and in doing so - there was a lot of cleaning up involved.
And say one friend noticed that the other friend had a lot of unfinished pieces stacked up everywhere and out of the goodness of her heart she said " I can take a piece home and do it up for you - it would help you and me because I could post about it before returning it "
And say this piece was an antique armoire door that looked a little like this ( ok - exactly like this actually )
And say this friend hemmed and hawed - should it be a fancy schmancy blackboard?
But finally decided to create an old Parisien door.
would it be wrong
for the one friend to call the other friend
and ask
How much Dorothy?
Pls keep in mind this is a hypothetical question - nothing whatsoever to do with me
AND if you don't believe me......................there's the door

I A-DOOR it, too! Seriously yummy with that gorgeous blue.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful transformation!

I love it - what an A Door Able project.....
ReplyDeletegreat job buy it hello your helping clear the room ;)
ReplyDeleteThe door is gorgeous... I mean aDOORable!
ReplyDeleteAs for your hypothetical and completely fictional scenario, I think that it would not be wrong at all for the one friend to ask the other friend that question. Nor would it be wrong for the other friend to respond, "Well, since we are such good friends, you can have it for $3.00!" Bwahahahahahaha!
xoxo
I love the stencil and the blue! Incredible transformation. Visiting from The Ironstone Nest. -Angela @ Mrs. White Twig & Tea
ReplyDeleteTHanks so much Angela - hugs,
DeleteWell, I would consider it perfectly legit for said person to call the friend and ask the cost. You could also choose to hold it ransom! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt is totally beautiful my friend...absolutely beautiful! I see so many things in your home that I really need/want/covet. Perhaps one hypothetical friend could visit said friend and then remove items upon departure? :)
xoxo
Pat
Goodness what a pretty transformation!! I love the soft blue color and the way the lines have been accented with the gold!
ReplyDeleteI wish - so wish I had more time to paint all the pieces of furniture I put in my space- I can see in my mind how beautiful they would become with just a little attention. Hopefully those who come in and see the pieces have a bit of imagination but seldom do they seem to see the beauty in the beast!

I A-DOOR this too!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer.. From Dream To Reality!
I'm going with everyone else - I A-Door it too! Goodness, what a transformation. And why yes, said friend should ask how much so she can keep it.
ReplyDeleteHa! You're hilarious! Liking the door!
ReplyDeleteI think it's appropriate to ask, but be willing to pay the price, no matter what. Even though you are the one that did the work.
ReplyDeleteI'm paying the price LOL - it's mine!!!
DeleteThanks for stopping in Michele
Hugs,
Suzan
Isn't possession 9/10ths of the law? Can you barricade your front door to keep this beautiful door safe? I think it is time to pull out the "how wonderful a friend you are!" plea.
ReplyDeleteI think it's okay for your friend to ask how much. It wouldn't be okay for your friend to say the piece was lost in a fire and couldn't be returned. The second scenario would be cheaper, though. But, LYING IS WRONG! Cheaper, but wrong. ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteOh that would be a tough one to let go of! How beautiful! I'm guessing she already knows you want to keep it and I hope she reads your blog!!
ReplyDeletenice tranformation from plain to A-dorable!
ReplyDeleteThis opens the door to all sorts of opportunities...Groan, I know.
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, I love it.
That is one amazing door and now it looks over the top amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome!! I love how it turned out, and definitely like the door turned up the way you show in the finished photo better. (does that make any sense?? lol) Looks upside down in the before picture.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the sale! Dorothy is a great friend.
Debbie :)
Love it! Thanks for sharing at the All Star Block Party.
ReplyDeleteHolly

ReplyDeleteI love the door. It is so pretty. I also love the fictional scenario. Go for it. Thanks so much for linking at Wednesday's Adorned From Above Link Party.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Debi
Now I know that this would NEVER happen in real life, but If it did. I definately would have to ask. After all, it looks like it was made to go there. And really, all she had to do is say "Not for sale". Just remember ( I mean if it ever did happen) to let her know that it was A-door-ned with Love! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
Gorgeous! I figure that person would probably get a deal on it as, hypothetically, it was that persons elbow grease! Just saying!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - Dorothy are you reading this lol
DeleteXOX
What a transformation! I adore this door! Such a glorious color! I think it is okay to ask how much... it is always the right to do the right thing... not the easy thing!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that door!
For now it's staying right where it is - whether that's the right thing or wrong this LOL
DeleteThanks so much Yvonne!!!
XOX
I A Door it too, what a beautiful transformation, and i would say it's ok to ask how much...the right thing is never easy. I never could figure that out, it seems like the wrong thing should be easy. I would have to ask! Thanks for sharing your inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!
ReplyDeleteNow that is some transformation! A Door it for sure and so happy you shared:)
ReplyDeleteNow that's the perfect door!! I love it. That awesome little table looks perfect with it, too! :)

Hi! I love what you did with this door. I love your chair in the vignette, too. Do you use chalk paint. What colors did you use & what gold paint did you use? I am bookmarking this page for the day I, too, find such a great door.
ReplyDeleteColetteMarie
Hi Colette - I used ASCP duck egg blue and white combined to make a lighter color - I used a craft gold paint - thanks so much!
