Sneak Peaks only.................& a few conversations

I'm almost finished a big project - almost -
I'm almost finished a smaller project - almost -
And I can't wait to get them out of the house and into somewhere where they'll actually fit.
My place is now officially on the verge of a hoarder's house - seriously -
The dining room has been rendered useless - and the only space where there is no furniture
overflowing is the kitchen and that's strictly because it's basically the size of a bathroom or
I'd have things in there too................hopefully this wknd I can finish up the 7 pieces ( including chairs - do they count if they're part of a dining set lol )?

So just a little sneak peak

and then I staged it before I was even halfway finished it

John walks by - Are we having soup?
Suzan says - Don't be silly - the table's not even finished yet
John says - Why in God's name is there a soup tureen on the table - with salt and pepper and wine glasses and
Suzan says - I just staged it for photos
John says - Ok - I know I don't " get it " but why the hell are you setting the table when you're not finished painting it?
Suzan says - Because I'm going to show everyone a sneak peak of how it's coming along
John says - My God you're full of yourself, aren't you?
Suzan says - Why?
John says - Do you really think people are just waiting around to see what you come up with?
Suzan says - Does it look pretty?
John says - I'm not going to say a word this time - you're on your own with your blog
Suzan says - Can you help me put everything away?  I really need to get back to painting
John says - You make dinner look nicer when it's " pretend " than you do when we actually eat,
do you realize that? ( shaking his head as he carries away the soup tureen forlornly )

AND I do know it's crazy - believe me - and I get quite embarassed when he points these things out - but mostly I just find it hilarious

I'm working on this too

John says - That looks nice - as he goes to brush his hand across the top
Suzan SCREAMS - DON'T TOUCH IT - IT'S WET!!!!!!!!!!
John says - You're taking photos of it - I ASSUMED it was dry - finished
John says - Why would I think that? - shaking his head and walking away
Suzan says - Well why do you have to touch everything - can't you just say it
looks nice without touching it?  I'm not the strange one!
Suzan yells out after him - You know what they say about A.S.S.U.M.E., right?
John yells back - You're C.E.R.T.I.F.I.A.B.L.E.

I've added this as an after thought - because John went and put a screw in the works of my
creativity again
Here's a photo of 2 chairs -

I did a white wash on the lighter one - and was just about to start on the darker one and John said
NO NO - leave it - it looks better dark.
Hmmmm - me no think so - but I HAVE been wrong two times in my life so I could be wrong about this one
I guess ( although I really did promise myself I would never be wrong about anything ever again )
So here's a close up of each -

and the whole set is country inspired -

Yuck - no like at all -

What do you think?  Am I right?  Or am I wrong?  I'm confused! ( not really - because I
think I'm right lol )

And talking about confusion
Here's a photo I took outside my front door - after bracing for Sandy - it swept right
by us................it was warm with a beautiful breeze - but not enough wind to even take the
leaves off the tree outside - and can I remind you, this is Canada - and it's basically November -

There's nothing more pathetic than a discombobulated tree - nothing................

Prayers to all who have and are still weathering the storm - hope their lives return to normal as quickly as possible.

  2. Suzan, Am I looking in a mirror??? Am I hearing an echo someplace??? The only difference is that my furniture is not even started to be painted!! My parlor and guest room haven't had the drapes opened in about 6 months, and now things are stacking up in my new kitchen!! Oh my gosh, where am I going to put the Christmas tree??..And so it goes..Judy. Glad you didn't have any problems from the storm.

  3. Would these be the chairs that need fancy, schmancy seat covers?! John is wrong. (I know you think that a thousand times a day but I am voicing it!) The white wash looks great.

Hugs from Suzan (proudly starting marital arguments since 1970!)

  4. There seems to be a ringing in my ears, where have I heard this conversation before...oh yah right here in my own home. My husband just shakes his head and walks away but after a tablescape in the snow last year my brother told me that the neighbors were going to start having their children walk on the other side of the street to avoid "the strange lady" setting the table on the porch when a foot of new snow coming down. I know where you're coming from Susan, oh yah I know. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Hey Suzie....where is that incredible kijiji find of recent....almost done...no peaks on that one? Wuzzup with that? :)

  6. That is one seriously confused tree. Wow. The odd weather patterns have messed up the foliage schedules in Wisconsin also, but all my trees have relinquished their leaves at this point. My garage roof has relinquished all it's shingles right along with them. Last year's mild winter seems to have done it in. Go figure. Evidently it would have preferred 18-feet of snow.

And I laughed already at "Are we having soup?".

  7. A confused tree...that's too funny! Actually, I don't think it's confused, I think it's holding out on purpose, waiting for you to rake all the other leaves, so that just when you think you're done, bam!! Yeah, that's what they do.

My husband would say stuff like that too, about staging: "why can't you be that fancy for us?".

I like the chair on the left, with the wash. The one on the right is not bad, just a bit stark. (The guys should really stay out of this, they're not the ones with the vision. Guys simply can't see that stuff. They're born that way.)

  8. I am just about to start on my new cane back dining set and it is going to be white too. They look great and I look forward to your reveal for some inspiration!

    1. I normally spray paint the cane first in the color I'm going to use - and didn't this time - my advise would be to get out the spray can lol
VERY hard to get in all the spaces with a brush!
      Good luck!

  10. I would pipe up about the chairs, but I'm a faster learner than John is, so I'll just keep quiet.

  11. Love the sneak peaks - think I like the white chair the best also. Glad you were able to sidestep Sandy... Our trees are just now starting to change a little bit but, the leaves seem to be falling so rapidly I wonder if they'll stick around long enough for us to see the color. Can't wait to see the finsihed projects....

  12. You should know by now that you just basically ignore ALL their suggestions. They come from a whole 'nother walk in life...one where design and blogging and decorating ideas are a dream cloud they reach for once in a while Can't wait to see what you get done this week- xo Diana

  13. You know what? Your posts always make me smile {sometimes that's not easy with chronic pain issues}. I have a bit on my blog about "Need a smile today" or something like that and I usually find a funny vid from utube. I should just use your posts - they crack me up. Love your table too!

  16. I thought you posted a picture from the summer of your tree...very strange. All ours have changed and lost most of their leaves. And funny since you are technically more north than we are.
Glad you didn't get the storm they called for in your area. We were pretty much good too, tons of rain & wind but no real damage. Still rainy gloomy weather, calling for snow tomorrow!! Yippee!!! (not that it will stick around, or be much)

  17. Love it, Suzan! I love your soup tureen, too. : ) Your story is why most of the time I don't work on projects when my husband is home. I usually get the "What're you doing?" when I'm working on something or taking pictures of it.
