I live in a pretty incredible area - in Montreal, It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one or two homes that are for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!
On occasion I'll showcase beautiful homes in other areas - countries - continents - the one thing most of them will have have in common will be their age - because I love old homes with stories to tell, join me won't you?

A place I've always wanted to see and haven't been to yet is Barcelona - we worked with a lot of fabric mills there over the years and although John's been ( for business ) I never made it there.
We have people who tell us we have an open invitation to come whenever we want - one of them has a condo in Costa Brava - Spain ( the other has a condo right on Lake Como ) but John is not comfortable staying at people's places!!!!!!!!!!!!
I on the other hand, could move right in and overstay my welcome probably - like the brother in law in the Family Vacation movies LMHO
Anyway this week we're doing Barcelona, Spain, everyone - wait till you see what I found!!!!!!!!!!
4 bedroom apartment
3 baths
Garage Parking
1,550.000 euros
Costa Brava Fincas S.L. Girona
This place leaves me drooling - seriously - it's a part of what my dreams are made of !!!
And if city living is not for you, there's this spectacular property!
799,995 euros
Take a moment to read what this includes - you'll be amazed.
- Pergola
- Swimming Pool
- Outbuildings
- Ground floor 3 bedroom apartment
- 2 bedroom detached cottage
- Self contained 4 bedroom house
- 3/4 acre of landscaped gardens
- Successful rural tourism business
- Tennis Court
please be forewarned - tons of photos - now's the time to go get some kleenex - for tears or drooling purposes -
can beautiful be ridiculous?
because this is ridiculously beautiful, really.
COTTON & CO, BURY, ST EDMONDS
summer house
This might be the " apartment "
and some more of the grounds...................
Something's terribly wrong with the continent we live on - really
Do you think you could get all this in California?
If you converted the price from euros into Canadian dollars
Here's what you could get in Vancouver - Canada
Think I'm joking?
Take a look at my post on these absurd Vancouver prices..........HERE
Read 'em and weep my friends.
I can't sign off with that as the last image - so once again
Barcelona
Have a great Wednesday all................
I'm exhausted from this post LOL
And I still have to run out and buy a lottery ticket because I most definitely WANNA live there!!!
Much love,
I'll be at the following parties this week!!!
Ivy & Elephants Common Ground The Charm of Home
French Country Cottage My Turn ( for us ) My Romantic Home
The Shabby Nest It's Overflowing Adorned from Above
My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia Marty's Musings/Homework Savvy Southern Style
I cannot say "Barcelona". Every time I say it, it comes out exactly like that strange little woman, Charo, who used to appear on the Johnny Carson show regularly. I always say "Bar-tha-lona" and make myself laugh.
ReplyDeleteThe second home is more appealing to me but I wouldn't want to live there. I would like to occasionally party there but that's it. When I think of Spain, I think of sun and heat. I avoid both!
OHMYGOD...the second one for me!!! As long as I don't have to clean it myself...LOL...
ReplyDeleteThe prices in some Canadian cities is ridiculous! Unless you're the seller. Then you have it made!
now I need a vacation...to Spain. thanks :)
ReplyDeleteHey. How did you get pictures of my vacation homes?
ReplyDeleteWell, except for the Vancouver one. That's Phil's vacation home.
-andi
The first one has a lot of great, unique features. The second is a dream house. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd live in either. Happily.
I's take the al fresco dining area - insert a hammock and spend my days in the pool! That's all I need! Doris Day playing in the background "Dream a little dream...... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAIIKuSI2Z0)
ReplyDeleteWow- I love both places- they are night and day different. I love the city vibe of the first one and the peaceful rural feel to the 2nd one-although the 2nd one would take on different color tones for me. We had an exchange student from Barcelona for 2 years in a row. She came through a program the first year and had so much fun that she came back on her own the 2nd year. We have always had an open invitation to visit there- xo Diana ps. I don't like staying with people either---John's got my vote on that one-
ReplyDeleteI love the bookshelf walls in the first one.
ReplyDeleteHow about we go in together for the second place? We'll just flip a coin for who gets the apartment and who gets the house... and also the cottage!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTruthfully, I wouldn't want to live in any of them, but I would love to stay in any of them for a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteThe room with all the books - amazing.
I always make a point of coming over here when you spotlight these homes--wow! I want to live in every one of them! That's why I like looking at the pictures--it gives me ideas and fills my head with dreams...soo many things I would like to do to copy the style in some of these homes...
ReplyDeleteI like a smaller more intimate kind of home, but I do love the first house with all the windows and beautiful archways. Love that upper level deck too!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan, beautiful homes, I'm a city dweller myself, so I'll take the first one. Tell Suzan (the first comment) that people who live in Spain say Bar-tha- lona, so she is correct. Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteJeannie
But... Have you seen the spanish salaries to pay for those houses?
