Everyone keeps talking about FALL...............................but I can't accept it, I just can't.

As beautiful as it is - all I can think of when I think of Fall is that it's a very short season followed by WINTER.................

and that's the reason you probably won't see pumpkins anywhere near my home this year..............

I'm going to pretend it's like this

Right up until this is my reality once again

Fall is beautiful, everything is so magically transformed into gorgeous burst of colors
and then.....................
This

Who's looking forward to the Autumn?
And who's dreading it as much as I?

  1. Another 5 days of Winter for us and on September 1st ----> Spring ! But I love snow, have't seen much in SA, snowed for 2 days in 1981 and once or twice a few minutes of snow-fall {Gauteng - our area}

  2. I have a love/hate relationship with fall. Love for its colourful beauty, and hate for the nearness of winter. Looking at those gorgeous winter pics makes me shiver. Brrr! I'm totally going to hang on to summer for as long as I possibly can.

  3. It is a love hate relationship with me. It is normally very hot and humid here in South Carolina and we are ready for the cooler weather. The winters here are mild, if we get snow it normally does not stay for more than a day. However it is cold enough to send all the green summer to a crisp bown sleep...nohting makes spring more gloroius than a weary winter..so I will put out a punky pumpkin with a cord hanging out of his plastic bottom ..for the kids of course...and break out the rake and crock pot..and wait for Spring...

  4. Fall here is beautiful but I'm with you... not looking forward to winter. Once snow comes it stays and the next snow just adds on top, etc. etc. etc.

  5. Well now I need some coffee. For the love of gravy, those pictures were cold.

There's a train that runs a high rail somewhere between here and Canada. I'd love to the changing of the leaves on it! Have you heard of it?

  6. Given our similar latitude, you & I both have similar winters to face. As much as I complain about it, some may say 'Why don't you move then?'. I must then come to terms with the fact that I'd probably miss it if I wasn't subjected to it every single year. I just wish it wouldn't last so long! These photos just make it look pretty, Suzan. You may want to include a couple that depict what a car looks like slid into a phone pole and then covered with 4-feet of snow. Or one of me having a temper tantrum over having to shovel for the 1,402nd time. The pretty ones are much more lovely to look at though.

BTW, it's 90+ degrees here all week so impossible to imagine snow right now. Or even fall.

  7. I love Fall but not just yet!!!! I still have summer flowers in full swing. Around October I am looking forward to fall but I have a feeling it will be here sooner than that. I dread what follows Fall. It is going to be in the high 90's here in Chicago all week and very humid so it is hard to think about anything fall.

  8. I just don't know where the summer went this year Suzan... I traveled a lot & painted a lot... it just flew by.
Heading up to Canada at the end of Sept., so I'm just going to pretend it's still summer too!
    Have a great week! Vicki

  9. I am one of those people that enjoys the seasons to the fullness...no skipping ahead. Appreciating the season you are in is part of life, both in the natural and in life.

  10. I love all the seasons. I am looking forward to a diet free of aphids flying my mouth, and to be deet free. Plus all the fitness we get from a good shovel workout hehe.

  11. Summer weather has finally hit my part of the coast this last week of August. The beach is usually perfect in September and October. I am trying to savor summer as long as I can.

  12. We don't have fall here. I'd like a little bit of it.

  13. DREADING the winter-as much as I love Fall I do NOT like winter. I think a few of us should find a small island somewhere and build our own community. Wait- is that sounding like a 70's commune?;>) xo Diana

  14. I feel exactly the same! Autumn in all its glory is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. And...then...WHAM...bitter cold, snow, slush, ice...bleh! If we could just skip from autumn to spring, it would be great. And I'd be okay with a couple of weeks of winter around Christmas to make the season that much more festive and magical. But that's it!

  15. I am standing at the front door waving autumn IN! I love the fall. I love the winter. I love the spring. I LOATHE the summer. I don't like "hot" in any form. I don't want to hear about dry heat in Arizona. When it is 100 degrees it is freaking HOT and I don't care where it is. Humidity and I are like oil and water. Just thinking about it makes me cringe. My brother moved to Florida. I told him I will see him when he comes home. I would die in Florida. D.I.E. die. I can do Virginia when I am forced. North Carolina only on vacation at the beach for a week. Pennsylvania is too hot. I think I need to move very, very far north....like New Hampshire or Vermont or Maine. MAINE! I should probably start looking a real estate prices...

  16. I haven't even thought of fall yet...even though September is only a few days away. I just live one week at a time at the moment...:)

  17. I love fall...the colors and the cool breezes. living in the south, a break from 90+ temps is always welcome. but as for winter??? not so much. I love the look and feel of snow...if it only wasn't so COLD! that's why I moved south and away from blizzards. :-)

  18. I LOVE fall...as long as we actually get one...which is very rare. Usually the leaves fall off in 2 days, then we have 5 months of nothing but gray. Even when we get white snow, it turns gray. But if I could have TRUE autumn year-round...I'd take it!!!

  20. Autumn means going back to school for me, so I don't really long for it. On the other hand, summer has been so eventful (and still is) that I'm hoping for some peace and quiet come autumn!

  21. I am sharing your pain here in Minneapolis, and all the pretty pictures in the world (of autumn leaves) can't make me like anything other than summer.

When I went on my first date with my husband, he told me that he was moving to Minneapolis to buy the family business. I thought: nice guy, but this is going NOWHERE. Oops. That was 26 years ago. What the hell was I thinking?

Wanna run away with me? Tahiti?

I don't know what the hell you were thinking lol - I still question what my great grandparents were thinking when they decided to settle here instead of Florida................

  22. Suzan, I love you and think you are the best, you truly know that....that being said.....I do LOVE the fall and the cold....I can't really get around that well in the snow and can't drive anymore. But I love that time of year....all the smells...the baking for my family and friends...the happiness....cooking for my family and friends and then there is........ that is when our House should be finished. That is if we EVER close on the land!!!!

  24. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite time of year! :)

I know you get a ton of snow and we don't but this heat of 100+ daily & humidity is awful. I do have to acknowledge that we haven't had the "usual" Texas summer of these temps ALL the time. We've been very fortunate but I just don't do heat! You're welcome here anytime.

  25. What beautiful pictures! While I sit here in the sweltering heat & humidity, praying for a storm to clear it away, I wish it was fall...and then close behind winter. I love Autumn and Winter is wonderful, too!
    (sorry, don't hate me lol)

  27. Hi Suzan!!!

    NOOOOOO TO FALL!!!!! (I'm screaming)

We've had such a gorgeous summer that I know when Fall starts to show that I will be VERY sad to see summer waving a tearful good-bye. I've always known I'm a California girl in my heart. Having spent my teen summers down there and loving the water like I do, Summer is one season that I could take at least 8 months out of the 12.

Oh well!!!!! I'm hoping for the warmest Fall in history!!!

    Have a great week Suzan!!!

Have a lovely evening!Hugs, Poppy

  30. I am so looking forward to fall but our Florida winters aren't as harsh as yours. The heat and humidity is getting old. Fall is my favorite season in Florida. I do wish sometimes I lived where is snows, but most of the time I'm grateful I don't. It is a lot of extra work I'm sure....not to mention I despise really cold weather! Enjoy your summer weather as long as you can...:)

  33. Sorry Ms... Downer, I LOVE fall and winter is not that bad around here. It rarely snows and when it does, we all go crazy, stock up on bread and milk and act like we'll never see civilization again... NC for ya! Gorgeous photos!

  34. I was an October baby and I've always loved fall; however, the beauty of fall turns too quickly to winter. I wish we could just do summer, then fall, and hit repeat.

  35. Fall ? What's that ? We're due for 100 degrees again this week and it ain't pretty! It'll be summer for at least another month or so. Texas is not for the faint of heart ! But we live here for the winters, not the summers. We can garden through the winter, we can curb shop and dumpster dive through the winter, we can pretty much do anything. Except shovel snow! That's why mom and dad moved here from Minnesota. But you have lovely seasons that we don't get, the beautiful colors of autumn that we lack here. We just get brown. And this year is the same as last because of the drought. The summer was brown from lack of rain and we go right to brown leaves on the trees. The ones that are still alive anyway. Enjoy your Fall, Suzan.

  36. I do love Fall, but I'm not so much a fan of winter. I love how pretty it looks when it snows...but I really dislike driving in it! So....I'm okay with hanging on to Summer a little longer.

  37. I can see why you dread the winter! Our summers are so horrible, but probably a good contrast to your very cold winters. It will still be in the 100s at the beginning of October but low hundreds like 102, but not 110 or more. So I can't wait until November and then it will be nice until around May 1. Winters are mild and that's why people live here. If one visits in the summer, most likely they won't move here.

  39. I am looking forward to Autumn! Around here it means temps in the 80's or 70's if we're lucky. And it lasts forever. Really my favorite time of year. Winter is mild mostly but brown and bare...the snow looks pretty in your pictures but we hardly ever see it. I'm sure I'd hate it if I had to put up with it for months.

  41. I try not to say much about it! lol Fall is my least favorite month and we actually retired to Florida to enjoy summer time weather just a little bit longer! Autumn is beautiful in the mountains and we like to drive up to see them and then back to Florida where it's warm! lol (don't tell!) heehee!
