Ohhhh - I want one of these sooooo badly
I LOVE them - have always wanted one of them - and WILL have one ( one day )
I never saw a room I didn't love them in
One, Two, Three O'clock, Four O'clock rock,
Five, Six, Seven O'clock, Eight O'clock rock.
Nine, Ten, Eleven O'clock, Twelve O'clock rock,
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight.
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with
Time is on my side, yes it is
Time is on my side, yes it is
As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me what
The time was that was on my watch, yeah...And I said
Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care
If so I can't imagine why
We've all got time enough to cry
In these time passages
I know you're in there
You're just out of sight
Oh, time passages
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight
If I could turn back time
I suppose you know what time it is now, right?
Time to say Good-bye ( Con te partiro )
For those of you that are always bugging me about leaving a song in their head for the day - oh oh -
you're in trouble this time :) or I am at the very least..................
Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion
Is nothing new
Flashback warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after time...................
And think of you
Caught up in circles confusion
Is nothing new
Flashback warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after time...................

If I could find a way.....................
To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven
Brother of mine
Sister of mine
Brother of mine
Sister of mine
Heart and soul
Body and mind
Meet me on the river of time
Meet me on the river of time
The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love
To the dark and the endless skies

Now I've had the time of my life
No, I never felt like this before
Yes I swear it's the truth

Time to say Good-bye ( Con te partiro )
Rustic Living Room
But not before I show you this - which I found at IKEA
WHAT IS IT ???
Well it's a decal of a Grandfather Clock - made by a Swedish company after all - IKEA
Meet Gustav ( no idea where I got the name from lol ) complete with a blank " face "
to hang your clock from............... I bought it to put in my dressing room ( whenever that gets done )
Isn't it the cutest thing ever?
It's just as tall as a regular Grandfather clock -
It's a pretty sad state of affairs when a cartoon version of something you really want, will do
but I think it'll be a fun, quirky, design element, don't you?
Oh my - I didn't realize how long this post took me to write up
I have some serious painting to do here guys,
Ain't it funny how time slips away?

Oh just keep looking dear one will poop up out of no where for you.
ReplyDeleteI Like them also just never had thought about them as serious as you LOl
Now I want one, NO i'm downsizing so I can pack up and move on a whim if I want to
I bet the big Home Goods stores have had them , I'll be looking around for you
I loved all your songs, I have sang them all
Adore your timely post! And now that I have such a conglomeration (AKA medley) of songs in my head I am sure to break out in song all day long-a sad thing since I cannot carry a tune-your fault, missy! LOL!!!! Thank goodness i am NOT in the shop today....
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a Mora clock! I LOVE them. My daughter loves the IKEA version which is sort of similar to your project. I can't wait to see what you do with it!!! (Our walls are not smooth, so it would not work.) We actually have a faux one in our home library; that's where is now anyway. Ours was done by a clever person with a jig saw and painting skills like yours..
ReplyDeleteWe all need a little fantasy in our lives......this is darling. With your talent you could paint some bats above it.....maybe a cuckoo bird peeking out under the clock face.....time flying on the pendulum. A glass slipper pointing to midnight. Ok. I get it. Go away, Chris. hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks for the songs...trying to hum the one I DON'T mind. Ha. Love the old white clocks with chippy paint. But oh my goodness, the decal is so adorable! What a great fun find! :D
ReplyDeleteOh, my. Any time someone quotes song lyrics to one sung by Gordon Lightfoot, I'm sold. :) I love Mora clocks, too. I have my eye on a reproduction offered by Maison Decor. They offer two different styles and will custom paint them to your specifications. Just gorgeous! As soon as I can decide on a color, I will be ordering one of the smaller ones.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post. I'm of Swedish descent and Now I want a clock like that too.
ReplyDeleteThey say that when you lose track of time doing something, then you are truly happy. Just sayin'.......
ReplyDeleteWell, at least it won't be just one song playing around in my head, so thanks for that;) I think Gustav is a very handsome decal!
ReplyDeleteI like the decal. Why cant you buy some mdf and cut out the shape and paint it as you would a real one still use the clock like you have -love dee x
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your idea!!!!!
I once saw, sometime ago, a "Granddaughter" clock. It was just a little shorter than me(I'm 5ft 6.5in) and painted beautifully, but, I let it slip away and in time it sold. I
haven't seen one since.
I love your pictures of all the Grandfather clocks and would take any one of them, but, I must say in picture #5, that I would take ALL of the room!!! WOW!!!! Love those chairs and mirror!!!!
Have a great weekend my friend!!!

Cute, my uncle got one years ago so cheap from a garage sale it wasn't working ($20) any ways he put it in to see if thy could get it working again turned out they could and it was some antique worth an absolute fortune. Decals are great if you ever get one it can come down in a minute
ReplyDeleteI love the blue one with the painted flowers, but they are all very cool. And now it's Time for Me to Fly :-)
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful clocks. But, like a ladder, they are one more thing I would like, but do not have the space for in any of the rooms in my house.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty Suzan. Leave it to you to find a way to make do until you get the real thing!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute post. Never seen a decal quite like this, so clever of an idea.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Suzan. I was browsing the sales on Joss & Main this morning and they have a Mora clock. It isn't cheap, but it isn't outrageous either. Here is a link in case you want to check it out. And it does ship to Canada.

Wonderful photos. I think I'd have to go with the drawing one and add my own clock face though. Great idea those IKEA people came up with!
ReplyDeleteHello dear Suzan. I`m sooo agree. That clocks are beautiful and I love them too. Hope you find one some day. Still painting?
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic weekend
Hugs
Oh Susan ... I have admired those clocks too, but never found one for sale. With all this inspiration, I really want one but no space.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your hunt.
Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures
I love these clocks Suzan. I did some rearranging in my living room and I have a very large void and I think one of these clocks would look amazing there! Now you just game me an idea for a project for hubby. He's going to have to break out his jigsaw for that one! Spring project I think. (I'm going to tell him that John made one for you. Convo will go something like "one of the husbands of a blogger I follow made one and made it look really easy and it looks great!").
ReplyDeleteNice use of songs! :) I like the clocks.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you have ever read Thistlewood Farm's blog (l love it!!) but she had a post with this clock. She did a great job making it a "fun" piece. Here is the link http://www.thistlewoodfarms.com/painted-clock
ReplyDeleteSuzan, you always make me smile. It is such a timely post, I love them too but no space.
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing in all the spaces you show. But I have a feeling you are going to make your transfer into something incredible! Good luck on the hunt!
Hugs,
Patti
Dang it, Suzan! I have been eyeing up my grandfather clock for white paint then I keep talking myself out of it. Now I fear that it must be done. These photos are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHave always loved the Mora clocks....esp. the blue one, third down from the top....but, alas, no room here!!! But one will show up for you when you least expect it and it will be right on time!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is a tutorial for making one on Remodelaholic.com
ReplyDeleteApril 24, 2013. Great directions. Love Mora clocks.
