And IF you wanted to visit a city with a European flair but didn't want to leave the continent - well you could visit Montreal - and if you wanted to make it very special you could stay in " Old Montreal " - and be transported back in time by staying at this beautifully Romantic Inn.................
Conde Nast review HERE
AUBERGE du VIEUX PORT
Let's go check in, shall we?
Now then, which room will you be staying in?
And once you've unpacked - maybe taken a quick nap
and wake up just in time to have dinner " al fresco "
AFTER DINNER YOU COULD CASUALLY STROLL DOWN TO THE PORT
WHY MONTREAL?
( you may be asking yourselves )
WELL WE'RE THE FESTIVAL CAPITOL OF NORTH AMERICA
( with over a hundred festivals annually )
SO............YOU COULD COME DURING GRAND PRIX WEEK
OR DURING THE INTERNATIONAL FIREWORKS FESTIVAL
OR PERHAPS YOU'D LIKE TO COME WHILE THE INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FEST IS GOING ON? ( THE LARGEST IN THE WORLD ACCORDING TO THE GUINESS BOOK OF RECORDS ) THERE'S PLENTY OF FREE ENTERTAINMENT
THEN OF COURSE THERE'S THE " JUST FOR LAUGHS " FESTIVAL
( a favorite of mine )
THE MONTREAL HIGHLIGHTS FESTIVAL ( MONTREAL EN LUMIERE )
A 10 DAY ( OR SO ) EVENT OF CULINARY - PERFORMANCES - LIVE MUSIC -
FASHION SHOWS
AND LIGHT SHOWS
THERE ARE A LOT OF FREE ACTIVITIES INCLUDED -
THE FESTIVAL ENDS WITH " NUIT BLANCHE " OR " WHITE NIGHT "
AN ALL NIGHT EVENT THAT STARTS AT 6 P.M. AND ENDS WHEN THE SUN COMES UP
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE IS THE THEME I SUPPOSE
AND AFTER AN EXHAUSTING DAY OR NIGHT - WE OFFER TRANSPORTATION OF COURSE - ON OUR
" CALECHES " ( HORSE AND BUGGIES )
OR OUR RENTAL BIKE SYSTEM - " BIXI " WHERE YOU CAN RENT IT FROM ANY LOCATION AND DROP IT OFF AT ANY LOCATION
AND THEN OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO LET ME KNOW YOU'RE IN TOWN SO WE CAN MEET UP FOR
COFFEE
OR
COKE
OR
WINE
OR
BEER
( I'M VERY FLEXIBLE )
BECAUSE EVEN IF WE MESS UP WITH OUR POLITICS
WE ACE GOOD TIMES
WE REALLY DO
OH AND ROMANCE
WE'RE PRETTY GOOD AT THAT TOO :)

You already know I want to come. This has made me even more determined.
ReplyDeleteI really really wanna come, but I'd have to leave my continent. Awesome about the Pinterest thing, that's really cool.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to book the second bedroom, please. It looks really perfect with the stone walls. Now, do you htink Pinterest can pay me an extra secure plane ticket (I'm very, very afraid of flying now)? I mean, it's kind of because of them that I want to visit!
ReplyDeleteI forgot! Maybe my grand-father Robert DeNiro can pay that plane ticket for me!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Suzan, and yes, it makes me want to come there!
ReplyDeleteDidn't know any thing about Montreal, but it truly has a European-feeling to it. I loved the snow and lighted trees in the park, along with the classy hotels.
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful images. I've always enjoyed my trips to Montreal, but never have been to a festival.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the email! And yeah, can't they cough up some cash for all your Montreal promotion?? I want to visit. I want to visit!!! And I pinned that bedroom. That's just how I want our bedroom to look when we're done putting in the hardwood floor. Of course we have to install brick on the wall, but how hard could that be? Love that look.
ReplyDeleteI'm booking the plane tickets, right after I rob a bank...Any of the rooms would suit me nicely and I never say no to a glass of wine, (I rarely say no to a beer either)! I have been to Montreal once about 17 years ago when the girls were small and we LOVED it, in fact we loved Canada full stop. I definitely think the tourist board should be paying you for this post!! Congrats on the pinterest board I shall go and follow it immediately :)
ReplyDeleteWell guess what? I ALREADY am following it - along with all your other boards! No wonder my daughters keep telling me I need a holiday, or putting in a rest home, or just to lie in a darkened room for a few days...
ReplyDeleteOn the way!
ReplyDeleteOh Suzan I am so going to plan a trip there. That Inn is gorgeous. I would stay in any of those rooms. How beautiful. When I come I will want to meet you down stairs el fresco!
ReplyDeleteThat city is just gorgeous. I see why you love it so much.
Kris
The hotel looks really nice. I haven't been since I was a kid, but my spouse went a few years ago, and he loved it. My daughter wants to go to Toronto, not exactly close, to see the Glen Gould exhibit.
ReplyDeleteAh to lie in a darkened room for a couple of days sounds divine, doesn't it ? LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm going to book a couple of days at this hotel in the summer and pretend I'm a tourist :)
XOX
What great advertising for your beautiful city! Amazing. And that hotel is pretty amazing too. Wow. Such gorgeous rooms with stone and brick walls and wonderful furnishings. That would be fun! Hubby would love the Jazz festival if there is blues too. :) We have the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival every September and it's a really great one too. Great post Suzan!
ReplyDeleteHow about you come visit Louisville, KY and stay in my somewhat renovated home and I come visit Montreal and stay in your mostly renovated home? Just saying it might be fun ;) enjoy your vacation!
ReplyDeleteI think your name should be up in lights at the Chamber of Commerce ( you do have a Chamber of C, don't you)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the Pinterest thing. You SOOO deserve it. You are talented, creative, funny and cute to boot! Love ya-SuzyQ xo Diana
I love eating at those cafes and a stay in that hotel would go down good right now! They certainly should be paying you for all that publicity. Better get that wine open to breathe. I'll be right there!
ReplyDeleteI certainly can understand why they chose your Pinterest board...if all your pictures and information is like what you shared here, anyone wanting to visit Montreal can find all sorts of yummy things to do!! I've been to Montreal twice and loved it both times. I really do want to get back...and go up the river a bit to see Quebec City, too.
ReplyDeleteDebbie :)
You are so amazing. :-)
ReplyDeleteAs you know, we want to visit Montreal for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. I will have you as my tour guide.
xx oo
Suzan. You have no idea. I am crazed with want for this trip.
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely have a job with the tourism dept. for Montreal. I wanna be there right now!! Congrats on the Pinterest feature!! That's awesome Suzan!
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan,
ReplyDeleteYou live in one of the most beautiful and cultural cities in the world!! When I married my Greek husband, (literally, born and brought up on the island of Crete), I made sure to slowly ease him into the Canadian culture by honeymooning in old Montreal, which he loved!! The food was excellent, the architecture stunning and the sights, something to see! I'd only been there once before, and returned only once since then, but long to visit again one day!
Thanks for featuring this European capital of North America!
XOXO
Poppy
I swear I'm ready to book right now and check into that great inn! Sign me up for the fireworks and Highlights...and wine with you! WOW how great about your Pinterest board!
ReplyDeleteSuzan,
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable...I STAYED in this beautiful auberge the first week of January 2009! It was a fantastic suite that included a kitchen and a marvelous large soaking tub. There is a restaurant very nearby that had the most wonderful food, but I can't remember the name of it.
Congratulations on having Pinterest feature one of your boards!
Judith
I am loving this post! I want to visit Montreal NOW!!! The hotel looks amazing.
