We had a house once - in the middle of the city ( 2 houses ago - before I was blogging ) where we had a very tiny garden..............
To add impact to it I surrounded the perimeters of the fence with climbing roses
I think the garden was the hardest thing to leave when we sold and moved on to the next one. ( which had no garden basically ) just a tiny courtyard that was mostly shaded................so the dream of recreating those rose covered fences was put to rest.
But now we have the biggest garden we've ever had................with lots of fences
and so yesterday we picked up these
2 big pots of them..............and John had to restrain me because I would have bought 10 of them
except I'd already gone a little crazy with other things
like 10 hanging pots ( here's a few of them )
a few bagged plants
and dahlia's
some geraniums
and tons of other beautiful flowers...................
John says - Once again - over kill
Suzan says - How can you " over kill " with flowers?
John says - If anything can be over killed - you're the one to do it
But this house?
These renovations?
THAT's overkill -
Having an oasis outside?
Somewhere to escape to?
THAT's priceless.
Did I mention we got climbing roses?
To put along this fence? ( last summer's photo )
Have a wonderful day everyone
( John's golfing for Father's day - maybe I should run and get some more flowers? )
P.S. - I don't even know what kind of roses they are - this is all the tag reads !
I just know this summer will be filled with days of wine and roses.........................

I tend to overdo it when selecting flowers. In the car it looks like so much, and while I am planting I curse myself for buying so much, but once I get everything planted, I see that I could add so much more.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy watching your garden grow.
LOL ~ you shop for plants the way I do! Too much is never enough ~
ReplyDeleteMerry Summer Solstice!
So beautiful !!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses, Suzan. Along your fence it will be fantastic. I`m just waiting for mine to bloome.
ReplyDeleteHugs from here
Those climbing roses all over the wall and fences are beautiful. I'm sure John is right and you've done overkill, but isn't that really what it takes to get what you want? Proudly be the Queen of Overkill.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both: overkill! You can never have too many climbing roses.
ReplyDeleteOh I love climbing roses! Maybe you should go buy a few more...ew, sorry. I'm a bad influence! Your yard is going to be just stunning!
ReplyDeleteIt must be a guy thing, my hubby keeps complaining that I bought too many flowers too! I just have some planters and hanging pots - seeing as this is a rental, there's no pointing in spending a lot of time and money on flower beds.
ReplyDeleteAll of your flowers are beautiful. Those roses are going to look fabulous against the fence. I don't know much about roses or rose names, but I think Hardy is a good thing :-)
It will be beautiful and when everything starts growing and filling in he'll be glad,we hope. lol
ReplyDeleteSigh, roses. They will look beautiful along the fence. Love all the others too,but there is something about roses. xo Patty
ReplyDeleteI hope your rose covered fence comes true Suzan. There is nothing prettier. I love the variety of hanging baskets you bought too which will add pops of colour all over your yard. It's pouring rain here all. day. long. and so cold. I'm wearing socks inside my sheep's wool lined slippers and I'm still cold! Sure doesn't feel like summer at all.

Your flowers are all so colorful and gorgeous! I've never planted roses before, but I'm thinking maybe next year I will. There's a popular one here called Knockout Roses that have been blooming their heads off. I think it might be a good one to start with. Although, we are going to build an arbor at the lake and I want climbing roses to cover it. I guess some research is in order. Oh yeah, there's no such thing as overkill when it comes to flowers. Just saying!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers...I adore climbing roses and hanging baskets and the movie Days of Wine and Roses kept me in tears for days....we've seen it about 10 times...so good...so sad...and so true of so many couples. We had very close friends that went thru the very thing and ended in heartache........bwaaaaa
ReplyDeleteOk first of all you can never over do with flowers. That's my motto anyway. Love your roses and they will bring you lots of pretty color every summer. Ahhhhhh loved seeing the pool. So pretty. I need to come up and get my floaty in the pool.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Kris
It is so hard not to overdo.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday & wedding anniversary fall within weeks of Mother's Day so not too many years ago I asked my family to stop giving gifts on those days & let me go to the garden center instead. What fun! My husband basically gives me free reign & still takes me out to celebrate those days.
They are all beautiful! Your climbers will be so pretty on your fence, hope they do great!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!
Blessings,
Cindy
Your garden looks just lovely and adding roses will make it just more so.
ReplyDeleteI have several potted plants all around too. :-) It is so fun to decorate our yard and deck with flowers and garden decor.
I have two rose bushes, both are doing wonderful so far this garden season. :-)
Carla
Wine and Roses, that's a great way to spend the summer...throw cooling off in that gorgeous pool and it sounds pretty dam perfect to me!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your beautiful flowers! I did something similar when we were having a party at our house while the yard still looked dead from winter. I kick myself when I have to water the pots every night, but I do really enjoy the color.
