A Headboard Makeover !

Good morning all !

A little late today because I had to take photos and the ground was very wet - and I had this fear of slipping with it and ruining the whole thing in one fell swoop ( it isn't waxed yet )
Instead I completely lost the bottoms of my yoga pants - they simply slipped off my body as I was walking and I left them in a pile on the grass until I was finished !

HEADBOARD BEFORE & AFTER WITH ASCP

This piece was a pain in the butt to be honest with you - your hand has to be very steady to get around those curves with different colors - so there may have been a few bad words muttered while doing this.

ASCP - HEADBOARD MAKEOVER

I also originally painted the inserts grey - and the trim white - but it didn't work at all - so I started over until it looked right and if it doesn't look right now it's just too bad because I've run out of bad words completely.
( how's that for a sentence and a half? )

I stenciled that little design on there - and that oval shape?

John says - I hope you don't use that to serve our suppers anymore !
Suzan says - Why not ?  I'll clean it !
John says - IT'S PAINT !  PLEASE STOP USING OUR DISHES FOR PAINTING !

Paint Schmaint...........................I needed an oval shape.

ASCP CHALK PAINT PARIS GREY & OLD WHITE

It's a queen sized headboard ( often the only ones I can find with this shape are double sized ones for some reason )

And again..................it was done to tie in with previous pieces I've done in the last week

PARIS GREY & OLD WHITE ASCP

Here's what it looked like when I spied it on Craigs list

A little paint - a stencil - a serving tray -  some dry brushing - a few curse words - and you'd never know it was the same piece !

And now it works perfectly with this ( makeover HERE )

and this ( makeover HERE )

Anyway - now that this set is done

ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT - PARIS GREY & OLD WHITE
on to the next piece !

Well first I have to find another pair of pants to slip into
AND I should clarify - I had a short nightgown on so I was completely covered - they're like silky yoga pants and they sort of just slunk off me.
You know- the way a snake sheds his skin LOL

Have a wonderful day everybody !
Hugs,
Me

  1. Oh my word, Suzan, you crack me up! Leaving your pants along the wayside...now that's dedication! Haha, I said a few swear words myself over my last project - I did drop a bag and broke something. :-/ ruined my day, I can tell you. But in the end, I got what I was after. Glad you only lost your pants and not the headboard! The set is a beauty!

  3. Oh, my goodness ~ the visual of you taking pix without your pants on is hysterical!! (Sorry, but you already knew I was gently crazy...)
What a wonderful furniture set ~ your painting really brought out all the great curves and lines on these pieces.

  7. ROFLMHO, the visual of you taking pictures with your yoga pants off to the side on the ground cracks me up! I hope your neighbor's windows don't peer into your backyard. I painted the exact headboard last year and remember the pain in the back side painting those curves, so my sympathies go out to you. A lot of colorful language was used while painting mine too but I've NEVER ran out of choice words. My vocabulary is limited but when it comes to the colorful ones, they run aplenty! Your headboard makeover is fabulous and I love the oval detail in the center!

  13. OMG!, Suzan!!! You are really cookin'! I can't believe how FAST you get these projects done! You are truly amazing! The set is just gorgeous on top of how fast you transformed them! I know you have ALOT of practice, but I am so in awe! The set is such a great color scheme, too! CONGRATULATIONS!
Either you need to adjust your elastic on your Yoga pants or you are a skinny rail. Too funny a mental picture! Well, you know what they say, "you can't be too talented or too skinny or too funny." Lucy, Lucy, Lucy!
Please send us some rain (to the land of burning Hell!!) At least your weather changes, we're still stuck on BAKE at over 100 degrees!
