HELLO FALL !

That explanation point in the title is deceiving ............
I'm NOT excited about Fall - not in the slightest - but it's kind of here whether I like it or not and so I've been changing things out a little here and there.

I took my wood slice sign and added a piece of paper saying Fall because I didn't want to paint the word on to it ( hey there's 3 other seasons to decorate for ! )
It's resting against a galvanized tray I found this summer.................

DECOR WITH WOOD SLICE

Now - all of a sudden - my wood " slice " feels like it has limitless decor potential !

Some of  you may remember I did both sides of this - the other side looks like this

PAINTED WOOD SLICE

It usually sits in the enclosed front porch - but I decided to borrow it for the bedroom
My fall mantel - a few books ( that I've been dying to read )  a couple of stars -

some branches - even my squirrel door stopper has found it's way up there LOL
and of course my Paris Christmas ornament that's out for every season

PAINTED WOOD SLICE

Last month I looked for a pair of Hunter boots on line.....................it's been popping up on my screen for 30 days or so - a constant reminder that I haven't bought them
I'm ordering them today - partly because I love them - and partly because I'm sick to death of seeing the ad
This is the new style of them ( I had the older version for many many years - they last a long time ! )
It's a more tailored version

And what on earth they have to do with my mantel I have no idea except these boots are probably the only part of Fall that I really do like .................I may put them on the mantel.

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday -
And since most of you LOVE this season I hope it's filled with warm colors and crisp weather and fireplaces and soup on the stove and pie in the oven and

a pair of your favorite boots..................

Hello Fall !

Hugs,
Me

    1. MOST people love Fall Rhonda - it's just too close to winter for me - it almost represents an ending in my mind and makes me just a little sad !

  4. Wow! A pair of sensible snow boots! I've seen so many examples of boots with 4-inch spiked heels that I really wondered if "they" made real snow boots any more! It looks like you're set for the snow and slush that will inevitably make its way to your neck of the woods, and it might make it as far south as where we live in southeastern NC, but I wouldn't bet on that too much. No snow boots needed here, but we'll be going to Ohio near the end of December — not nearly enough of a reason to buy boots for us! Enjoy! {I can imagine your sour fall look!}

  5. I am so freakin' short I can't wear hunter boots. They are lovely but too tall in the leg for me. The shorter version look like any other rubber boot at 4 x the cost. Lucky girl you can wear them! So good you could get a little Fall decor in, love your mentel. We dragged the outdoor table and chairs into the unfinished dining room and enjoyed Thanksgiving. Hope you had a lovely long weekend, it was beautiful here. xo Patty

  6. I like Fall as well cause of the cooler temperatures along with the beautiful Fall colors. Needless to say it got up to 97 degrees today.

Sure do like them stars and as for your boots; place them on the floor along side of your faux fireplace. Think they would look better on the floor than on top of the mantel.
Have an enjoyable evening. Oh, Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends.

  7. Happy Thanksgiving in Canada, Suzan! I hope you and your Family AND new Grandson, Evan had a very Blessed Thanksgiving! Evan's First Thanksgiving, Wow!
I like your mantle decorations and I think the boots would go up there if you perhaps use them for a vase to put some neat branches with or without leaves on them.
They are cool boots and nice and tall so you don't get wet, since you actually have rain, (what's that?) and weather where you live. We are stuck in Hell here. Ever since Sept 1 it has been stuck in the very high 90's and 100's and for the past week it has been 102 to 107! I can't get in any kind of fall decorating mood--I'm just waiting for the only orange we'll get around here--Fires! Fires start around here anytime during the drought, but for sure when the HOT Santa Ana winds start howling sometime in October and November.
    "BYE for now!

  8. Judging from my experience last Christmas, you will still get those ads even after you buy the boots. You have to contact the advertiser and tell them to STOP!
I get a kick out of you writing a message to a season....LOL
I, too, think your squirrel is adorable, not like the live critters that skitter across my roof....
You have a happy fall, Suzanne, 'cause Canadian winter is coming......br-rr--rrrrr

  9. I do love Fall but then for us it means temperatures below 100 degrees (or 90) and soon boot weather. Our winters are mild so I don't dread it coming like I would if I lived in your part of the world! :-) I really like your wood slice sign, cute squirrel, and that Paris ornament! Hm, the boots look very comfortable and cute to boot (pun intended). Lol. Have a good one. Hugs,
    Cecilia

  15. Next time you get grumpy just come over the pond and visit me. We have no winter to speak of, we are luck to see a snowfall every 10 years and Fall is a joke. Ok, will that stop you from raining on our Fall parade .. and you can bring the boots.

    2. Where did you go? to the mountains? lol. I live in a coastal area. It is still 80 degrees every day and I hate it now because I want things to cool down a bit. (No one is ever happy with their plight!)

    3. Yorkshire mostly - but a couple of time in London it was freezing too ! ( not snowy cold more like damp to the bones freezing ! ) We would leave Paris - hot hot hot - and land in England and seriously freeze our asses off !
How can anyone hate 80 degrees - that's the perfect weather Mary - not too hot !!! We were 80 a few days ago and I was relishing every second of it !

    4. Suzan I live in Greece. It only freezes up in the mountains. You must have been thinking of someone else. You would love it here, hot dry Summers and the winters are like your Fall. I would love to go to England, but I don't think my bones could handle it.

    5. Omg - I'm such an idiot - of course you live in Greece ! Why was I thinking England? ( and I was thinking you just didn't want to admit how cold it get's there LMHO !!! )
England's pretty spectacular - just damp in the Fall and Winter ( kind of like Montreal actually - except John thinks it's even colder in England )
Yes Mary - I know I'd love Greece - it's on my bucket list for sure !

  16. Suzan when my daughter headed to Germany August 2014 (3rd year Uni) she could not get her darl purple Hunter boots in the gigantic suitcase. Way too many shoes needed for a whole year, Oh and the boots were 2013 Christmas present ordered from Nordstroms only $85.00 ,Major win!!! Love that Windsor and Michigan only has the Detroit river between us. :-) Any way when she left the boots stayed on the corner of the front hall . It is a corner wall which is great for a small table or a pair of Hunter boots. This past spring / summer they had very nice fake flowers. for fall I have the large sunflowers from Michaels (60 % off ) in them. Need to sort winter out early before the good stuff is gone, Am looking for a thrift store pair to replace hers because one day they will move out with her. She does not mind sharing them with the floral accents. Just thought your new ones could be multi purpose also. Let us know what John says if you add them to the décor. raining in Windsor, Kind Regards :-) Lisa

    1. Last year the Bay had them on sale for 99.00 but I thought I could get one more year out of my last pair.
Of course not. Now they're back up to 185.00 !!! They last forever so they're worth the money but WHY DIDN'T I BUY THEM WHEN THEY WERE ON SALE???
I guess you can be in Michigan within 20 minutes - right?
I have an old pair of rainboots that I want to spray paint and stick foliage in - John will have a heart attack LMHO

  17. Yup Detroit in no time flat. The exchange rate was closer at that time also. My husband also works for a U.S. company. :-) Only goes to the office to pick up parcels. :-) Did you know lots of the Ikea prices are better over in the States even with the exchange rate . Canton Mi. is only an hour away. New pick up location of Ikea is coming to Windsor and it only costs a flat fee of $20,00 for the service. Which makes us still plan to shop in Michigan. I think the fee is sooooo wrong. Not sure how I got on this line of thought. Back to The Bay... bet they have more colours of Hunter boots online than the store. Strike that you probably have a great Bay, so more selection, I forgot where I live for a moment. :-(

Hope you and John have a great weekend...love the shutters...hope it does not snow on you! xox

  18. Bah-haha! Boots on the mantel, now that I'd like to see. I can't believe this - I was just going to say, why not stick a few branches in the boots, when I noticed your comment above. Of course you've already thought of that, lol!
