So when my daughter called me to say Dad has a frame he thought maybe you'd like to do something with, I thought " wow - this frame better be priceless "
Here is what she brought me
did have a good laugh about it ( my daughter and I ) when she mentionned that he wanted
to know if I could redo a dresser ( I think it was ) in exchange for it...............
Mr. Ex - you have more nerve than a toothache.
Anyways I dragged it up tonight - this is one heavy sucker - and started tackling it -
First I just slapped on some white paint
Already looking better - oh the power of a girl and her paints
Next I put a quick coat of Paris Grey
It doesn't matter what it looks like at this point - there are many more layers to come!
And there is no " method " either - like I said it's just literally slapping the paint on
Next color - Duck Egg Blue
The beginning stages of a " patina " -
Next I painted it with a metallic ( sage green sort of color )

Think I may turn this one into a chalkboard................I took a lot of closeups because when I
try to get the whole thing you can't see the details..................
So Mr. Ex - let's say this frame was worth 50.00 in the state it was in - unless I can get 116,950.00
dollars for this baby - that's what you owe me now.................
You can pay me in 3 easy payments for your convenience.
Then and only then can we discuss my doing a piece of furniture for you!
LOL - as Forrest Gump would say

Love, Love this post. As I was reading, I was thinking I sure hope she doesn't refindish that piece for him. I sure hope you figured in interest on that debt. If not, I would suggest about 50% interest would be about right.

Love, love, love all the patina that you painted in! It got to be such a hassle trying to get a monthly check from the ex that when his lawyer offered a lump sum (much less that the payments would have been) I took it just for the piece of mind. As Forrest Gump would say "One less thing to worry about". I saw your post over at the blog party @ "In the Old Road" and associated blogs.

It does have a unique shape to it! You don't often find an oval frame that narrow.

ReplyDeleteI love your way with phrases.....so funny and so appropriate. We just watched Forrest this weekend and there really are a lot of great lines in that movie. I think that mirror turned out fantastic and I can only imagine the words that were flowing as you "slapped" on some white paint =0)
