Do I need an agent?

Ok here we go - another one finished ( oh please let someone like it enough to buy it!!! - I have to win this arguement - I just have to )

Suzan says - ( with great excitement ) come look - I'm finished - do you like it?
John says - You make things too personal
Suzan says - But surely someone else will like it as much as I do?
John says - You should be gravitating towards a more " general " audience
Suzan says - I don't like " general "
John says - But you're narrowing your customer base - your items are getting
too specific
Suzan says - Did I say I needed an agent? I don't recall saying I needed an agent?
Are you offering your services as an agent?
John says -  Forget it Suzan, just do what you want, ok?
Suzan says - I always do John, sigh, I always do....................
Suzan says - please do not speak to me for the rest of the day
John says - I've no intentions of doing so.
and 10 minutes later
Suzan says - what would you like for dinner
John says - maybe steaks would be nice.
Suzan says - you don't like my dresser, do you?
John says - it's too customized - it's too specific - it's too
Suzan says - Did I say I needed an agent?
Suzan says - do you want fries or mashed with your steak..................
Suzan says - the last time I did this pattern it sold in a day.
John says - let's drop the subject, shall we?

Domestic bliss? Fuggedaboudit........................I'd find it boring anyway!

Here we go - sorry no before on this one -

Annie Sloan - Duck egg blue ( with versailles peaking through here and there ) and Pure White.
Clear Wax

John says - Why do you have keys on the salt and pepper tray?
Suzan says - because I like how it looks - and I may keep it for a key tray - does that upset
the balance of our life in some degree?
John says - It's PEWTER and PORCELAIN for God's Sakes - you're going to destroy it
Suzan says - relax ex - lax it's just for the photos
John says - NOTHING - THIS IS A FIRST - JOHN SAYS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Oh look at that - 2 handles are missing - lol - couldn't even wait till I installed them to take the photos,
Off to find the drill - not even going to think of asking for help on this one.

But I'm going to make him an extra special dinner this evening - sometimes he deserves extra special
living with me.
He really is a saint - albeit a grumpy one at times - but a saint none the less.

XXX

I'm making the rounds - and partying with these gracious hostesses ( with the mostesses )

  5. such a great re-do, suzan! it's wonder what my hubby would say about my pale pink and white dresser--now, that's customized:) both of you have a great weekend!

  7. lol! You are so funny, Suzan! And I sooooo commiserate with you in discussions like that. Over time, however, my husband is slooooowwwwwly learning to carefully choose his response to my questions. lol! However, I may be creating a monster because lately he's been saying things like, "Well, I think you should do (this), (this), or (this) to that table." Whaaaaat....??? YOU'RE the stylist now, hunny....???? lololol! I've learned to just feed him a frozen Snickers ice cream bar to keep him quiet. :)

Anyway, I LOVE your dresser, girl - and I know it'll sell quickly! Adding your own "personal" stamp on each piece is important. That's what sells!!

  9. I sold a desk with that pattern on the top. It sold in under a week. The dresser is very pretty!

  10. When he said it was too personal, I thought maybe you had added something like your kids pictures to it. THAT is not specialized! THAT is a pattern. I'm sure he'll appreciate my input. ~ Maureen

  13. Ah ha ha. Love it. If my husband thinks an item is strange and doesn't think it will sell in my Etsy shop, I laugh. I think, he knows nothing about vintage things and I secretly LOVE it when it sells quickly. ;) This dresser is adorable and how it's too personal, I am not sure. I am thinking...who wouldn't LOVE it?! That color is fabulous and so is the pattern! Gorgeous!

  14. Most men don't have a clue about what looks good. They used to have apartments with beer case coffee tables and blankets on the windows, before they met us. We brought class and style into their lives. I love the dresser and I know it will sell quick. You did a great job as usual talented lady. hugs Tobey

  15. Too funny. Love your writing style! :D
Oh, and the dresser is adorable! I'm sure it will sell in no time at all.
Saw you at 'It's So Very Cheri's Partytime Sunday'

  16. What a lovely dresser, SuzyQ! The pattern is unique and not the same ol same, but that's the reason it will sell. It's easy to find a plain painted piece or to do it yourself. But most people see something like your piece and wish they could do it or atleast buy it. Thus, you are doing a supply for the demand. -_^
Hope you get a chance to share it at Frugal Treasures Tuesday party. Have a great week,
    Barbe

  17. Found you from Coastal Charm linky party. I do love the dresser! One shop owner I know did a similar pattern only with funky colors-grey and orange and it sold in a half day.I think your style of changing it up is just what attracts people to the furniture.

  18. Your personal touch is what makes the furniture special. At least John has an opinion. Chucks just repeats what I say. I don't think the pattern is far out there. It looks pretty classic to me. Very loverly!

  20. I like it and I think you are right to not be too "general" in your design! That's what makes it special. & you need to be CREATIVE! Just do some general pieces every once in a while to pacify! Thanks for linking up to Gettin' Krafty With It!
