2 Faces have I.......................

I am 2 completely different people - it's just hit me now, at 53 - it's not that I'm quirky - or strange - or that there are different sides to me at all - I AM LITERALLY 2 PEOPLE - no wonder I've been so conflicted my entire life.....................

There's the glamourous Suzan - who loves glitz and sparkle - who loves to have her hair done and wears jewels and buys gorgeous shoes and who has a ton of dresses hanging in her closet -
Who has her nails done and doesn't go out without her makeup and loves good food and wine - and entertaining and being entertained.

And there's the frumpy Suzan - who can stay in her pajamas all day working on filthy furniture redo's, contentedly singing as she goes along - her hair messily thrown up with a clip - no make up at all ( although even this Suzan has a hard time looking at herself in a mirror when she walks by one - not a pretty site at all )
Nails dirty - perfectly happy with a piece of cheese slapped between a baguette on the floor beside her as she works.

And to be honest with you, John never knows which one he's going to wake up beside in the morning, because it all depends on how fed up I am with one or the other myself.  So typical conversations can go like this

Suzan says - I don't feel like cooking -
John says - You want to go grab a hotdog?
Suzan says - I'M FED UP OF HOTDOGS - I WANT TO GET DRESSED UP AND GO SOMEWHERE NICE -
John says - Ok Ok - it's just because the other day you said you were dying for a greasy hot dog and fries!
Suzan says - I did?  I can't imagine why!

OR IT CAN GO LIKE THIS

Suzan says - I don't feel like cooking -
John says - You want to go somewhere nice and have a steak?
Suzan says - WHY DOES IT ALWAYS HAVE TO BE FANCY WITH YOU? WHAT'S WRONG
WITH JUST GOING FOR A HOTDOG AND FRIES SOMEWHERE?
John says - Ok Ok - it's just because the other day you said you wanted to get dressed up and go somewhere nice.
Suzan says - I did? I can't imagine why!

One Suzan keeps the house spotless - the other one? Not so much -
One Suzan is a spendaholic - the other one is so frugal it's sickening...............
One Suzan is a boundless ball of energy
The other Suzan just wants to lay around eating chocolate
One Suzan loves good wine -
The other Suzan loves a cold beer
One Suzan loves going to Ogilvy's ( a high end store in Montreal )
The other one wants to go to thrift shops
One Suzan gags - literally over the most silly things
The other Suzan can tackle anything
One Suzan is  freezing all the time ( and turning the heat up )
The other one is dripping with sweat all over the place ( and turning the heat OFF )
Ok so that's definitely menopause lol

Today I was definitely the slovenly Suzan and got my hands dirty with this

hmmm - could this be why the owner of these lovelies actually apologized to John for their condition?

and that's how filthy these chairs were.......................the Suzan that worked on these could care less
she stoically worked on them until they were spotless - all sterilized - 3 buckets full until the water came out clear -

and after trying 3 different fabrics on the chairs ( John liked one - the other Suzan liked another - this Suzan likes this one the best )

Even the other Suzan is impressed this time ( and it takes a lot to impress her )

XOX
SUZANA
( BOTH OF US )

P.S. working my butt off to get the whole set done and up and posted - but the " other " Suzan has just kicked in - she wants to soak in a bath - get out a good book - and do nothing -
The eternal conflict rages on folks................................

And the 2 of us are Partying Here!

  1. Sounds like the two of you may know the two of me!! And my husband has the exact same challenge of figuring out who shows up...when. I love what you did to the chair...just gorgeous!

  2. You are hilarious! What is wrong with John that he can't predict which one you are at any given moment???? Me? i love a pajama day!

  3. Oh....and I seriously love that chair! Even if she started out dirty!

  4. Suzana!!..Just in case I don't know who I'm talking to! Are you sure your name isn't Judy? I find though that this one is staying more and longer in her PJ's and, frankly, it's becoming a little worrisome..Happy Weekend..Judy

  5. I forgot to tell you that messy one really did a great job on the chair. Looking forward to the whole set..Again, Happy Weekend..Judy

  6. Suzan, thank you for visiting and the lovely comment on my little table. Your chair came out beautiful and LOVE that fabric! Newest follower. Oh, today was a PJ day--little one asked if I was going to go out like that--to her horror (I was thinking about it) :)

  7. What a cute post. I never thought about there being two side to us. I'm a little like that too now that I think about it.
Love the chair makeover and although I didn't see the other fabric choices, I really like the one you picked. Following back.

  8. There's just one of me! (And it's not the glamorous one) How does John possibly figure you out, or have you driven him crazy trying to?

  9. Oh Suzan, you always hit the nail right on the head! Most of us have two sides I think we just don't face 'em down the way that you have here.....you always make me feel so much better (especially when the not so pretty Peggy is hanging around!)
The chair is beautiful and the fabric choice is perfect!

I love the chair. I recently reupholstered my dining room chairs. I never realized how much fun it would be and how accomplished I would feel afterwards.

  13. Well, Sybil, the chair is lovely. Of course, it's easier to get projects done when you have more than one Suzy working on them! ~ Maureen

  14. Suzan, I personally think you were just the last to know the two faces of Suzan existed. The rest of us already knew this little fact about you. Case in point, one night you were in pajamas taking wood from the neighbor's trash and then a couple of weeks later you were praising the Paris experience. We love you and you and throw in John, too!

Love how the chairs turned out.
