Here's the secret.............so says Pat Robertson

Pat Robertson sheds some wisdom on marriages
I've highlighted my responses to this -
Responding to a question from a viewer, Robertson said that married men "have a tendency to wander" and it is the spurned wife's job to focus on the positive and make sure the home is so enticing, he doesn't want to stray.
that's why I paint books Pat -
"I've been trying to forgive my husband for cheating on me," the viewer writes. "We have gone to counseling, but I just can't seem to forgive, nor can I trust. How do you let go of the anger? How do you trust again?"
While Robertson's co-host hedged on the question, calling forgiveness "difficult" and spousal infidelity "one of the ultimate betrayals," Robertson got right to the point.
"Here's the secret," the famous evangelical said. "Stop talking the cheating. He cheated on you, well, he's a man."
oh for goodness sakes - is that all there is too it?   thanks for the tip!
now here's a little secret for you Mr Roberson - shhh - don't let it get around - if my spouse cheats on me - you can be sure I won't be hanging around " talking the cheating " - I'll be long gone...........because, well, I'm a woman.
The wife needs to focus on the reasons she married her spouse, he continued.
"Does he provide a home for you to live in," Robertson said. 'Does he provide food for you to eat? Does he provide clothes for you to wear? Is he nice to the children... Is he handsome?"
what about the work we do?
what if we buy the groceries?
what if we buy our own clothes?
and what if, God Forbid, he's not handsome?
can we get angry then?
Robertson also offered a little advice on the "tendency of man."
"Recognize also, like it or not, males have a tendency to wander a little bit," Robertson said. "What you want to do is make a home so wonderful that he doesn't want to wander" or give in to the "salacious" magazine pictures and Internet filled with porn.
ok - wait a minute - I'm confused Pat -  why is he even looking at salacious magazines or porn sites?  Is it strictly because he's a man?
just so you know - the " tendency of women " is to leave when someone breaks the
most sacred of vows..............

we tend to " wander " too - through the yellow pages - finding divorce lawyers
This is certainly not Robertson's first foray into anecdotal marital counseling, however.
In January, Robertson told viewers that "awful-looking" women can cause marriages to lose their spark.
oh oh.................I may be in trouble there from time to time.
"It just isn't something to just lie there, 'Well, I'm married to him so he's got to take me slatternly looking,'" he said. "You've got to fix yourself up, look pretty."
is it ok for the man to look slatternly?  and if he does, is it ok to cheat on HIM ?
Similarly, in 2010 the host advised a woman complaining about her husband's flirtatious ways not to "hassle him about it" and just make herself as attractive as possible.
Once we've made ourselves " as attractive as possible " can we adopt flirtatious ways too?
He also once told a husband upset that his wife didn't respect him that he could always just "become a Muslim and you could beat her."

Even I can't come up with a response to that particular one ..................

Wish I could speak to Mr. Robertson - because I have just one teeny little question I'd love him to answer.

Which rule book did you study Sir, exactly?

Does anyone else find this as hysterical as I do - ( in a totally offensive and nauseating way ) ?

But I think I'm going to shave my legs and  put make up on today - just in case.......................

  1. Oh dear! The world needs a lot less Pat Robertson's, and a lot more men AND women who recognise that marriage is an equal partnership based on love and respect.

I am so sick of women being blamed for everything bad that men do!

    Thanks so much for sharing.

  2. "we tend to " wander " too - through the yellow pages - finding divorce lawyers" BAHAHAHAHA... I love that line!

Well, it's hard to be offended by such profound ignorance. It's more entertaining than anything else. Although certainly nauseating.

Men should assume responsibility for their actions and stop blaming us women for the crappy things they do. When men behave badly, women get blamed. And when women behave badly, women get blamed...again... Hmmmm...'me thinks something is wrong with this equation'...

  3. Oh dear...ummmm okay so the guys an idiot, sorry I don't know who he is but his wife is a bigger idiot and so are the women who listen to this crap. My husband "wanders" he will have no money, no family and no manhood if you know what I mean. Okay off to pretty myself up and by that I mean I may wash the paint stains from my clothes LOL

  6. I do not follow Pat Robertson's sermons, but this is unbelievable. It's not okay for either spouse to wander because then what's the point of being married? I agree with Kirby. What year is this?

  7. Not sure if he's married, but if so I feel real sorry for his wife.

  8. I'm so relieved! At first I was afraid you were going to agree with this idiot/nut/goofball and I would have had to remove your blog from my list! So glad you didn't, because I enjoy your blog so much. Plus, you brought some much-needed laughter into my day :)

  9. I'm horrified. I used to watch The 700 Club, but this isn't the first time that he's put his foot in his mouth. He's known to share his opinions, but this isn't even a touch Biblical, so all he's offering is his own misguided ideas and judgments. I have a feeling God was cringing at this totally wrong viewpoint. I feel sorry for the women that are on that show, and don't know how they stick it out with that misogynistic atmosphere. yuck.

  10. Had no idea where you were going with this at first. The comments are great - 'misogynisitc atmosphere' - hahahaha.
It's with no apology I relate my triple point reaction to this man along with his 'good old boy' brothers:
1 They're all under the very mistaken illusion that they have something vital to say. They all need to get a life.
2 The people who do fall under their spell need to be deprogrammed so they can get a life.
3 What makes our marriages work is none of their (?) business. Hubby and I have our way - ask us how in January - on our 48th anniversary. We're doing something right without them.

  12. I was repulsed when I heard this on the radio a couple weeks ago. He is a disgusting man in my book. I heard the other day that he said to the tornado victims that they must not have been praying enough or God would not have sent the tornado to destroy their town....UGH! He makes me want to vomit and he is one of the reasons so many folks are turned off by christians. On a lighter note....have a blessed weekend!

  14. Okay, Suzan, I was about to 'move on' from your post once I googled the name Pat Robertson but then I got it... craziness. 2013 and somebody would have the gall to talk like this on public television. Amazing.

Well, I guess I could go off and shave my legs seeing that summer is not that far off. But I am telling you ...that means that my significant other needs to shave his back! Really.

  16. OMG...I'd better go take down my total couture post because LAWD knows I wasn't all "prettied" up in those pics. OH CRAP!! My "wandering" husband TOOK those pictures! That means he knows what I really look like!! Oh wait. He still doesn't wander. Hmmmm... Perhaps there's more to a marriage than just that.... Idiot.

  17. Sadly, many women, millions of them, are brain-washed into believing the BS that Robertson and others of his kind spew forth. That is why these male patriarchal types are so vehemently opposed to "women libbers" who insist on being respected as an individual, not a walking womb fit only for reproducing miniature males in the image of the father (puke) and scrubbing out pee-sprayed bathrooms.

  19. Growing up in the Bible Belt you still see a lot of women that actually still practice this form of Christianity today. Being brought up by a liberal mother ( not really but this is the way she was viewed). I am still a form of oddity in my area. I am considered a liberal. I don't consider myself that at all just common sense views, or common sense to me. Many of the women that maintain these relationships are abused, emotionally and physically. These women don't have jobs, they have children and this is what they have been taught growing up so its instilled in them. As much as we laugh at Pat Robertson's views, it is being taught and practiced by many of the women in my area and they live with monsters that this man teaches to his church. Many women are considered property and treated like that. While we laugh at his ignorance his ignorance is harming many women in my area. They feel they have no escape. This man is dangerous and the churches that endorses him need to be ashamed and their attitude towards women needs to be changed to one of respect. He honestly needs to be out out of his misery. JMO. 22. He obviously has no idea what marriage is really about. Sherrie's comment really made me think - so sad that some women are sort of brain washed into believing this stuff! I was going to shave my legs today but now I think I'll wait another six months!! : )

  23. Didn't he get caught in some infidelity scandal a while ago? Wonder how his wife took it? Maybe she didn't shave her legs and looked slatternly. What the heck is slatternly anyways? Is that the look I'm trying to achieve after cleaning the toilets, making suppers and digging in the garden?

    What a jerk.
