Controlling my URGES.................

It's 1 a.m. in the morning - and I have an incredible urge to dance - with reckless abandon
Maybe it was dancing at the wedding that awakened a primal urge in me because I virtually stopped
dancing when John and I met...............
John does not dance.
When did that become Suzan will stop dancing then?
I also have an urge to bake cupcakes - but it's too hot.

I get uncontrollable urges to cut my hair - I mean really cut my hair -short - pixie - run my fingers - messy - short hair............this heat doesn't help - it's hard having a blanket ( hair ) draped over your neck all the time.
Think it's time to do it.

I have an urge to eat the O Henry chocolate bar that's sitting on my desk - so far I've been able to fight it.
Why don't I move it instead of casting furtive side way glances at it every 30 seconds?

I have an urge to wake John up - for no reason in particular.
I also have an urge to stay alive - so I won't.

I have an urge to sneak out the door and go for a walk - in the middle of the night - like an alley cat.
Again,  have an urge to stay alive - so I won't.

I fought an urge to check CL tonight - because I have too much to get rid of still - and John keeps saying
" ENOUGH "
finally give in after he went to bed and this is what I missed out on..............30.00

and this for FREE

30.00 later and I could have had both of these beauties in my place ready to paint..............
But I was too busy fighting off urges.

Think I'm going to eat that chocolate bar..........................

Much love,

Partying with!!!

  2. Seriously? I stopped fighting urges a long time ago. Which is why I may be described as a wee bit overweight and on-the-brink-of-hoarder-status.

Wish that kind of stuff would pop up on our craigslist....

  4. My only real joy living alone is the fact that I can follow my urges and do whatever I want whenever I want. Popcorn and a margarita for dinner? Why not? Paint wearing only my underwear in the middle of the kitchen whilst eating dry cereal from the box? OK! Put Dan Fogelberg on the stereo really loud and singing at the top of my lungs while vacuuming? You betcha! Dance, sing, shop and eat that damned chocolate. And NEVER wake a sleeping husband unless you are prepared to deal with ANY consequences!

  7. I would think the urge to smother yourself over missing those deals might be a pretty strong one! Poor girl. I have NO urge to go to a picnic OR to church this morning but I am off to go...ugh- xo Diana

  8. I think you need help, I hear psychologists have beautiful chaise lounges though, maybe if you get better he'll let you keep it when you're done

  9. And sometimes we have to act on those urges 'cause it's fun! I've also been having the urge to cut my hair short. The thought of little to no maintenance is very appealing. And it would be a blessing during heat waves. I'll have to think more about this...

And I LOVE O Henry chocolate bars! I couldn't find the urge to eat one if it was close by!

  12. You have such willpower!! I admire your self control, but thirty bucks???? That is so sad :( Keep your hair as winter is just around the corner, and being Canadian, well you know! Although we are famous for our touques! Good Day hey.

  13. My urges, when acted upon, usually cause me a lot of trouble (and guilt if you consider me eating that candy bar!).

The dresser is stunning. I always wonder what the previous owner would think once they saw it beautified?

  14. Yes I know what you mean about dancing! I sometimes crank up the music and just dance by myself since hubby doesn't like to. My fiftieth high school reunion is in August and I've already informed him that he's going to dance no matter what!

  15. I wish that I had the urge to work out more! You crack me up!

  16. Eat that chocolate, always eat the chocolate.
And chop that hair off..you would look great!
I'm sad that you missed out on those great pieces...
    But dance, dance, dance!

  17. I have had the strong urge to cut my hair short (and always when it's hot). When I have followed that urge, in the past, I have deeply regretted it. I just remind myself that I can braid it, ponytail it, or scoop it up in a cute bun........

    1. Well I can tell you it didn't look cute this week Susan LMHO...............a rat's nest would be an apt description actually!
I cut it short often actually - my hair grows like weeds so it's long again before I know it !!!
Anyway the humidity has broken - so now I'm ok LOL

  18. Suzan,

From one thickly maned Mrs. to another: keep the hair, dance the dance, choose the chocolate, step away from the sleeping husband, bake the cakes, and, lastly, CL freebies are common occurrences, but dancing cheek to cheek with O Henry in the moonlight is pure midnight magic! They're playing your song...

  19. My wife used to get the urge to change her hair. I never interfered. I thought to myself, it grows back and if it really sucks, she'll know it. She did. But she still gets those urges too.

  20. Hi Suzan,
I had my hair short in a pixie and love that it was wash and wear hair!!!! I am now trying to grow it out and it takes every little bit of patience to keep this up. I constantly want to cut it short again!!!! So much easier. Also thanks for reminding me I had a chocolate bar in my desk drawer while I was reading your post. Yummm thanks for the reminder.

  21. Before responding I went over to our CL to check. No, still moving boxes and free kittens. I always mourn the losses for a short time then move on. It's the hunting and gathering that is the most exciting. I have decided to dance whenever I want - in the grocery store, down the street, wherever. Oh, and eat the chocolate!

  22. Oh my... I would stop fighting the urges!! Just in case, you know??

  23. What a shame!! They are both gorgeous, but I love the second one and can just imagine what you would do with it. I agree, stop fighting urges!

  25. You have urges, I have things I need to do but not desire whatsoever to do them. I need the urge to put off procrastinating. ;)

  26. Cut the hair...it will grow back. I constantly go from super-short to growing it out. And make the chocolate a double...

  29. We never have cool stuff like that on CL for that cheap. And they rarely take decent pictures either. I always spot the free stuff too late or it's too big to fit in my car. Just as well. This place is full up! Start in on the candy bar right away next time and just enjoy it. you know you're going to eat it eventually, right?

  31. I think my heart stopped when I saw that first dresser you missed. Booo on fighting urges! You'll regret it if you cut your hair. I always do.

  32. Oh, I'm sorry you missed those beauties. They would have loved connecting with your paint brush!

  33. you crack me up! I relate to you and your thinking so much! I bought a 2 slice pack of pecan pie tonight and john said "I thought we were on a diet"...I told him to close his eyes as I slipped the full key lime pie into the fridge : )

  34. Those are incredible. Oh well.

You have such nice hair, but it would probably be still cute even if you cut it.

  35. I should practice more urge-control. But...that candy bar would have been gone by the second glance Suzan! Dance away girl!

  36. Ooooh, I would die if there were pieces like this around here, free or not! Those are magnificent!

Always give in to your urges! Always! (Well, maybe not waking John up...)

  37. That white cabinet is to die for. I would be sick and eat a whole bar of chocolate bars if it were me. Don't fight those urges too hard anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Funny the urges we fight and those we give in to! I give in all the time to urges about eating something sugary sweet.. all the time. What the heck am I thinking? I don't give in to the urge to dance for the very same reason you have. My husband does not like to dance. And I'm a good dancer, too! Sooooo... maybe I need to switch things around and not give in to my sweet tooth and do spend spare moments dancing. Maybe even take dance lessons! :-p
