Bedroom nooks!!!

Good morning everyone !!!

I wonder what it is about nooks ( and crannies ) that make most of us that don't have one, wish we did?
Is it something left over from our childhood's I wonder - when we would create little spaces for ourselves using blankets and clothes pins?
I love them - I love them so much that when I joined pinterest it was one of the first boards I created   - never thinking I actually may soon be living in a house that's full of them!  I say soon everyone - because we should know by Tuesday ( it's close now - oh so close ) just some final details to sort out )

This is what some people have done with nooks - I don't think mine will be anywhere near as elaborate - but still, I'M GOING TO HAVE NOOKS AND CRANNIES GUYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah -
I could curl in a nook with a favorite book
( while John's in the kitchen learning to cook )

Have a wonderful day everybody - and a relaxing weekend - and be very grateful that you don't live near me or I'd expect you here, beside me, helping me pack :)

Much love,

  1. Suzan!

I don't think I have missed an episode of your house hunting adventure, but obviously, you are close to finalizing on one!! Is it the sweet little charmer that appeared on the post with Annie Sloane? Now, that beauty had its share of cozy nooks and crannies, and I can definitely picture you there.

    Fingers crossed! xx

    Good luck, my friend!

  2. A small pointless nook becomes a "niche"! I think it would be perfect to display some antique or favorite books and make a lovely vignette. You will make it perfect!

  3. Hi,
I am so excited for you.
You will do great decorating nooks and crannies.

    Can not wait to see.

  5. I love that photo with the apple blossoms...gorgeous nook.

We have a ridiculous nook in our florida house....a narrow little space in a wall that looks like I should put a statue of the blessed mother in it.

  7. How much fun is all this going to be!!! I love it. I too love nooks and crannies but don't have enough of them. I actually have a plan to make one in a bedroom with a future renovation. Crazy perhaps for some but it really does scream CHARACTER. :) Getting more exciting by the day Suzan.

  8. So you managed to hook some nooks in the new home (fingers and toes crossed). I have dormer nooks in the upstairs rooms and they are perfect for tables with displays of collections, but I will be honest. I have never actually used the nooks for anything but that! I hope you have a plan of action for this new house - it does not know what is fixing to hit it - Tornado Suzan!

  14. So wonderful to hear you are close to getting some nooks and 'grannies'....as I prefer to call them! Cannot wait to see/hear that all went well and you are moving again! Yaaay!!!

  17. I am in a desperate house hunt right now. I almost bought a house that was way too small for us, but because it had so many nooks and crannies and breezeways and dormers and window seats, and you know what I mean, that I couldn't help myself. My husband has more practical sense. There was no room for the piano.

I would help you pack, but darn, I live too far.

  18. You know I'd already be there packing if we lived near enough! I love your nook collection. I kinda want one now.

  19. that small ugly ridiculous pointless nook would look great with something large, yet airy, in it. don't give up on it yet!

  20. Oh, Thursday is so close! I love nooks and I so wish I had at least one... But sometimes you can create a "nook feel" without the nook. Does that blue inspiration nook have a seaview? Wow!

  21. Think I'll take a tour around my house now and look for nook possibilities. Yes, I'm sure nook love is simply an extension of childhood fantasy, a grown-up version of the "fort." :-)

  22. I'd be right there with the other gals helping you pack. Life isn't complete without nooks and crannies!

Rest, rest, cuz all H**l is about to break loose. Can't wait to see you work your magic.

  24. Well I oohed and aah-ed over all of these. How gorgeous is that one with the large window with the tree outside. And the one with the shutters...gorgeous.
I do agree though, sometimes you see some really pointless nooks, that make you wonder what people were thinking.
I hope all goes smoothly with the sale.

  25. Yay!!! I hope you get good news soon! Love the nooks and crannies. I'm so excited to see what you do in your new home. It's going to be so much fun!

  27. Oh, that last photo. And, the one with the turquoise windows - wonderful.

My grandmother lived in a house in Portland, Oregon that was full of nooks and crannies. I knew that if nothing else, I had to have a window seat somewhere. Since our house is so tiny, basically every room is a nook.

  28. I love the nooks and wish that had a couple here in my house. My fingers and toes are crossed that you get the house. I think you will have it whipped into shape in no time with your great designs. Have a great day.

  30. Nooks are so cozy! I have one spot in my house that I call a nook...I haven't finished decorated it yet...it's been 11 years, LOL, but you might have just inspired me, Suzan!

  32. Ugly ridiculous nook is a masterpiece waiting to happen:
    1) Hang two leaded glass windows along the edges, fill in with floofy material & suspended twinkle lights.
    2) Cut branches to fit inside it and cover those with twinkle lights.
    3) Find a beautiful stained glass lamp to place inside of it.
    4) Build some tiny stairs and add a railing and make it a balcony for Soda.
    5) Go on a hunt for the perfect sculpture or big piece of junk (a giant marquee letter?) that would fit right in there.
I love that thing. I want one. Got a chainsaw?

  34. I have two nooks at my place but one doesn't have a side and the other one is just plain annoying, I have the kids desk set up in one, clearly these pictures tell me I have undervalued their potential
