A FRIDAY CHAT ( about this & that )

You all know that my brain works in correlation with songs, right?
Almost all circumstances will leave a song in my head with words that fit the situation.
But now?  It's even happening when words sound like other words.............
This is a little crude but here goes.............
John walked Soda early this morning - came in and said
Wow - Soda went for a massive 2 shits................
And now I can't get THIS song out of my head............
( I swear to you I'm donating my brain to science - somebody HAS to figure this out )

_________________________________________________________________________________

I started writing a book last winter - rather earnestly - than stopped.
WHY do I do that?
Did I ever mention that I started writing one in my 20's - and had a publisher accept it in N.Y.C. ?
Got all of 5 chapters written and stopped.
I have the letter of acceptance from the publisher still.............it's my version of a Pulitzer's.
Anyway .............

John says - I thought you were writing a book?
Suzan says - Yeah........well............I'll get back to that this winter
John says- What's it about ?
Suzan says - Oh...........you know - this & that
John says - FINISH it - maybe we could buy a golf course or something
Suzan says - You're lucky if we can buy a golf TEE with my writing buddy.

BUT................I'll show you the " introduction " to it

The Consequences of an Inconsequential life
By Suzan Sweatman

Oh Wow - a reader !
THANKS for buying my book - you now belong to an exclusive club - there's 2 of us in it !  My advice to you would be to start my fan club before it gets too high in numbers - this book could easily hit 10 - 20 ( and dare I dream? ) 30 sales.  I'd start the fan club myself but I'll probably be all over the place giving interviews and such - you know how it is when 30 people want to know all about you !
Just so you know - this book starts off where the last book ended except I haven’t written the last book yet.
You have to trust me – it’s a New York Times best seller – filled with adventure, mystery,  intrigue and forbidden love -  I just have to get around to writing the damn thing – for now you’ll have to be content with the sequel – which is NOT about mystery and intrigue and forbidden love ( are you intrigued yet? )

It’s just about me, a Suzan, living my daily life which may have you hanging off your seat in terror because my life could so easily happen to you - it’s a warning of sorts -  never settle for mediocrity – it’s boring and mundane – and mediocre…………and I never wanted to be THAT person – I had grand dreams of being the girl who left her hometown and went on to become a famous actress – returning for events and such in a gown and heels while adoring fans fell to their knees at the mere sight of me.  It hasn’t quite worked out that way.  YET.  There’s still time – I’m in my 50’s at the start of this tome – and I just may be 65 by the end of it but hey, 50 is the new 40 – so I may end up having 1 fabulous star studded year – or at least enough to have a face lift.  I just need Oprah to read it  Oh and I have to fill it with fake experiments ( just enough to get her a little miffed – I certainly don’t want her full wrath or anything because that could put a cinch in the works to say the least).
Book One will be available at some point or another - because I do everything ass backwards.

Now excuse me - I have to sort the laundry......................
Which has already been washed.

_________________________________________________________________________________

There's a caterpillar up in the corner beside my front door - I've never seen one like it - it's black and super furry with a brown middle.
I googled it as soon as I saw it - apparently it's called a Wooly Bear Caterpillar.

Suzan says - OMG - We've got a Wooly Bully Bear Caterpillar
John roars
Suzan says - Laugh all you want but it brings bad news
John says - Harbinger of death I suppose?
Suzan says - No - it means it's going to be a severe winter
John laughs out loud
Suzan says - I'm serious !  I just read it !

John comes outside to take a look

John says - Oh those - we've got tons of them in the back yard.

OMG - tons of wooly bear caterpillars is very very ominous.

I knew it you know.
I just freaking knew it.
The Farmer's Almanac says it going to be a bad one too.
The enviromentalists - the scientists - the people who KNOW all about El Nino and it's affects say it's going to be a mild one.
THEN HOW DO THEY EXPLAIN ALL THE WOOLY BEAR CATERPILLARS ON MY PROPERTY?

Uno, dos, one, two, tres, quatro
Suzie told Johnny about a thing she saw.
Had two big horns and a wooly jaw.
Wooly bully, wooly bully.

_________________________________________________________________________________

And I'm ending my chat on a serious note because I've been outraged over this since it happened.

I'm a capitalist - there's absolutely no doubt about that - John and I are small business owner's after all.
But I'm a capitalist with a heart ( or so I'd like to think ) and I really do believe that socialistic aspects are fundamentally important in society.
So did Jesus.

Wealth Is a Gift from God to Be Used in His Service

Jesus saw wealth as a gift from God to be used in His service (Matthew 25:14-30). Those who have been blessed with wealth must share generously with the poor (Matthew 25:31-46), and avoid the sins of arrogance (1 Timothy 6:17-19), dishonesty (Exodus 20:15Mark 10:19Luke 3:12-14) and greed (Luke 12:13-21).
Those of us who are blessed with wealth beyond our need have a responsibility to share generously with the less fortunate. We should view our wealth as a gift from God, entrusted to us, to carry out His work on earth.
If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? (NIV, 1 John 3:17)

So when I read about people like Martin Shkreli who increase a pill from 13.50 to 750.00 overnight I want to puke.
ANYONE ( and that includes all the corrupt pharmaceutical companies - because he's not alone in this - far from it ) who can justify getting rich off the backs of disease - well - they simply have no place in society in my humble opinion.
Their greed obviously knows no boundaries.
D.I.S.G.U.S.T.I.N.G. parasites - feeding off the desperately ill.

  1. Please finish your books. I'm already a fan!

BTW...Paris was fabulous! I'm in love!!! We didn't have enough time there but are planning on going back in the next couple of years.

  2. There is a big blog expanding AD over your story and I can't click out of it...but I trust it is good-so finish it already.

I, too, think we are in for some wicked winter weather. Summer/Fall were so mild here that it kind of scares me for what might be coming behind those seasons.

I am so disgusted by Shkreli that I could just spit on him. He is lower than low and although he may reap his profit on earth I believe that we pay for what we do one way or another...and God is the judge of that. Honestly, my thought when I read that was 'I wonder if HE will get cancer'. Awful thought, I know.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend. Are you celebrating Halloween? I have my black shoes polished and my witches hat is ready to roll!~ xo Diana

  3. Ah, thanks for the Bee Gee's moment. Love them. Now have to find my old CD's and break them out for a while. There is so much wrong with our medical systems that need to be corrected. Big Pharma is out of control. We've switched to a a more natural life style, gave up medicines for good vitamin theraphy and are on the way to slimming down with a low carb lifestyle. We've found we no longer need medicine (which only control disease, not cure it) since we gave up most sugar, wheats and grains. Write the book...you have enough followers who will buy it to justify doing it.

  4. thanks for the two ear-worms! It will be interesting to 'hear' which one lasts the longest! I'd forgotten about "Massachusetts" ~ love that song!

I'm already a fan ~ keep plugging away on the book!

Now I'm off to watch some of the Bob Ross "Joy of Painting" marathon on Twitch TV ~ such an exciting life I lead!

    Hugs ~

  5. Hola Wooly Bully buddy North of Massachusetts. :) The only thing that will stop price gouging in the medical industry (in all it's incarnations) is totally socialized medicine. Beyond that, it's wacko. My opinion: encouraging health and taking care of those who are less healthy is a service not a means to extraordinary wealth.
Side note: I've been off-center for a bit ever since my cat suddenly became ill and I chose to euthanize him 10/13. I'm climbing out of the hole. I know you get it.

  7. The Bee Gees, pre Staying Alive no less! Girl, those are the songs of our lives. I remember being in Grammer school and listening to that song, and having no idea what it meant. And yes I agree 1000% with you about the parasites.

  8. Please write the book, I will even pre-order it if that helps!!! You have no idea how I look forward to your posts and I am certain I'm not the only one. Girl you have a gift, you are entertaining and you make us laugh which is sorely needed today. Keep the songs coming, your mind is a wonder! I too have read that the Almanac is calling for a mild winter, I don't believe it! The sheer number and size of the acorns falling from my trees is telling me otherwise. Thankfully we don't have wooly spiders, that would just freak me out!

  9. I always thought Massachusetts was written by Ted Kennedy and had something to do with Chappaquiddick. BeeGees, hub? Also enjoyed the Woolly Bully. I've seen lots of them around here this fall. I was hoping it meant a milder winter. Sigh. So write your book, make a lot of money, and spend your winters someplace warm. And I believe that capitalists should have a heart and share their money and other blessings. Socialists claim to have a heart because they want to share your money. Have a wonderful weekend, Suzan.

  10. Suzan, I hope you write your books! Now I'm dying to read them, and I'll be your Fan Club prez! You have totally tantalized me with the peek into your books' subject matter! You are such a funny writer that I'd love to read them just like I love reading your blog--what a scream! Since you got the acceptance letter from the publisher already, that is the first BIG hurdle--so START WRITING already!
You kill me with thinking of Massachusetts after what John said about Soda! Only you, my dear! You're so Funny! I LOVE it!

I agree with you about the pharmaceutical industry! They're like the insurance industry that's always existed in the US! Bunch of FAT cats getting rich off of sick people! That's why health ins. as it's always existed in the US costs so much and has limits as to what it pays for. That's why we have a GREAT need for a national or SINGLE PAYER health ins program like you have in Canada. So many people still can't even afford the insurance that the Affordable care act, (which was dubbed Obamacare by its enemies), provides. He originally meant the Affordable Care Act to be a one payer system which would have made it a helluva lot more affordable for everyone who could not afford private health ins, but the ones who stand to get rich from health insurance didn't want that because they'd loose their fat incomes. So the Affordable care act meant to provide ins to those who need it most, (that the republicans are STILL fighting), ended up being a compromised version. Because the ins companies are still the providers it still is too expensive for a lot of people without insurance so States have to subsidize the premiums to make it more affordable, but republican states won't subsidize it, so those poor state's citizens still can't afford health insurance! It all boils down to one of the dirtiest of all evils: GREED!
What are you doing for Halloween---going to see Evan in his first costume? He's so cute!
    Ta-Ta!

  11. Hey - I'm from Texas and a HUGE Fan! Absolutely can't wait for your next writing to come to my inbox...makes me laugh every time! I'm with Diva...I'd pre-order your book as well! I love your talent in sharing your thoughts on paper..Absolutely Amazing! I'm not crazy about wooly worms either...I have piss ants at my front door..all huddling in one corner. Have sprayed and sprayed...they won't leave!! Ugh!

  12. Love the BeeGees. Hate wooly worms. Despise pharma all around.
    But I'd love your book!
Is Evan dressing up? Are you?

  13. I'm so sorry about the caterpillar. I don't care for harbingers of doom or predictions of warm winters but I'm in Texas and we like a little change of seasons. I'd love to read your book!

  14. Here in NC they are called wooly worms and there's a WW festival in Boone, home of Appalachian SU.
One good thing is that another company has announced it will make that expensive pill and sell it for--if i recall correctly --about 13 bucks apiece. So the new company has a chance to make a not unreasonable profit (in comparison) and that Shkrelli will not make all the money he apparently thought he would and has been treated with the contempt he deserves,
And people who need it will be able to get it. Good all around, no?
Whatever the weather, Suzan, you will survive....spring will come eventually and in the meantime you have heat and food and a great guy to snuggle up to...what's to be unhappy about? Unless, like me, your body is starting to ache all over if you go out side in the damp air...... but it's something anyone with your spirit would survive,...keep on singing, gal, you give us all a smile with every post,....
