They were bought at the Restore years ago - for 35 dollars I believe.
They're high quality silk - double lined - with French pleats sewn into the top fusing.
I bought them because I fell in love with them - not because they would fit anywhere in the house lol.
Our last house had 12 foot ceilings so they never reached the floors -
I had to put them behind the bed to hide that fact
You can see that bedroom makeover HERE
Sadly - even though they're the perfect size for this bedroom ( actually too long for this one - there's some hidden tucking going on here ) they STILL have to be behind the bed - it seems I'm doomed to always be sleeping under a window )
While shopping at Target this Christmas I came across a pair of curtains - of course they are not the same quality but since they are in 2 different sections of the room you can barely tell that they don't match. Here's what I found for the little " nook " .
If I promise you I'll have the bedroom reveal tomorrow, would you believe me?
Well you shouldn't because I've said it far too often now at this point LOL - but I'm trying - I really am. Smack in the middle of all of this I've come down with a head cold - my eyes burn - my nose is running - I'm sneezing non stop - and I have a headache that feels dangerously close to a migraine.
I think I should rent a hotel room tonight - a luxurious over the top 5 star - deep soaker tub - with haut cousine room service - doesn't that sound just about perfect?
But that would cost the about the same as the sink I want - so perhaps I'm better off to curl up with Soda - she's waiting for me as you can see
Pretty good match though, don't you think?
Did I mention how much I love all the nooks in this house?
My dream of a reading nook is going to become a reality - the lumber has been bought - and it's being made as a house warming gift :)
Care to look at my inspiration photos ( again ) ? You can see them all HERE
although I'm kind of liking it just the way it is ( for now )
Just a quick side note on renovations -
1) ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU CALCULATE TO A " T " THE EXPENSES
2) PAINSTAKINGLY GO OVER THE LIST A MINIMUM OF 10 TIMES
HAVE A CONTRACTOR WORK FOR YOU AT A FRACTION OF THE GOING RATE
( I WON THE CONTRACTOR LOTTERY ON THIS HOUSE WITHOUT A DOUBT - A PRICE THAT I COULD NOT SAY NO TO )
3) ELIMINATE A DREAM OR TWO AS YOU GO ALONG YOUR MERRY WAY
4) SWITCH PLANS IN THE MIDDLE TO SAVE MONEY HERE AND THERE
5) HIT X 2 ON YOUR CALCULATOR AT THE END OF IT ALL - BECAUSE IT ALWAYS COSTS MORE THAN YOU THOUGHT POSSIBLE.
6) MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE BANK - AND GET A LINE OF CREDIT - AND JUST BE GRATEFUL YOU WERE COMPLETELY OUT OF DEBT FOR 35 DAYS :)
John says - I TOLD YOU AND TOLD YOU WE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN CAR PAYMENTS - BUT NOOOO - YOU WANTED TO BUY IT OUTRIGHT
Suzan says - I did NOT want car payments John
John says - What the hell is the difference between a car payment or a line of credit payment?
I'm not quite sure how to answer that one - this may be the second time he's been right................
I didn't follow my own rule about hitting the X 2 button on the calculator I guess :)
O BLA DI - O BLA DA
Life goes on.................
( where's my twenty carat golden ring? ♪♫ )
Have a wonderful Monday

ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the everything cost double thing :( but it's coming up beautiful
ReplyDeleteAwesome job! and fabulous styling too!

A 20-carat ring would be beautiful, but think how tired your arm would be from holding it up all day.
ReplyDeleteThat house is being t r a n s f o r m e d . Such a lovely contrast. It is clear how happy it feels.
Oh I'm so looking forward to seeing the nook. I'd love to have one myself. It's all looking wonderful so far!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great match. I love all the little nooks in your home as well. They are really fun to decorate, and you have done a great job with them. Keep up the great work, and looking forward to the reveal. :)
ReplyDeleteThe curtains match perfectly and I am loving the nook as it is. I also love a house with character and yours seems to have lots. Anyone can buy a cookie cutter brand new home. Give me one like your, loads of character that needs work, so you can put your own stamp on it. Can't wait to see the more. love that you were back in the top spot again this morning and I didn't have to search for your blog. :) hugs Tobey
ReplyDeleteI hate sleeping under a window. But with FIVE doors and windows on two walls, I don't have a choice in my bedroom. What woman would ever design a house will no place for a bed to go, except under the breezy window? Your room is looking so good!♥♫
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so good, Suzan! I am stunned that you have accomplished so much. You should check in to the hotel asap...you have certainly earned it!
ReplyDeleteI hear you and you're starting to freak me out! My own move and reno is 2 months away (nervously biting nails, as my left eye starts twitching)...... Yikes! Patty/BC
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! I love the nook already too. Great match on the curtains. Life goes on…..
ReplyDeleteSuzan, everything is looking fabulous! I am really enjoying watching the transformation as you turn your home from the ugly duckling into the beautiful swan! I so wish I had your talent!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you could please tell us more about the curtains you bought from Target. Brand name, item number, color name, etc. I don't even know where to begin googling for them. Or maybe you could just post a zoomed in picture of the package. Anything would help! I really love them and would like to try to find them. Meanwhile, I will keep looking.
Thank you! And feel better soon. I bet that hotel room sounds really pretty good right about now, doesn't it? :)
:-)
ReplyDeleteI am under the weather too. How do we catch these darn colds anyway?
Looks great!
Hi Suzan!!!!
ReplyDeleteGo to bed and sip some nice warmed up wine and cuddle up to Soda!!!
I hope you get over this cold quick!!! Hate when friends are sick and not feeling well....
Would never know that the curtains didn't come from the same place. That is the closest match I've ever seen!!! Your nook is done so beautifully...I LOVE IT!!!!!
Get better soon!!!

Jackpot on the curtain. Wow they really look the same. How great it that find and at Target. Woooo Hoooo gotta love Target. Drink lots of Vit. C and take a few hot baths that will help with your cold. Hope you feel better soon. The nook is going to be perfect. So jealous!!!!
ReplyDeleteKris
Progress! All right! I'm catching up as we've been gone the last few days so let me say it's all looking good! Great find on those curtains. Love the nook, love the bathroom, it all is coming together.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you caught a cold...hope you feel better soon!
The curtains look fabulous - and in different areas of the room - they look perfectly matched! Everything is coming together so well! Ah yes, the twice as long to get it done and twice the price! Been there MANY times before! :) Everything is beautiful! Hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks lovely! You make me laugh Suzan! I so enjoy your writing!
ReplyDeleteAnne
It's all coming along great!
ReplyDeleteThe curtains look great, and what a cozy curl up spot!!
ReplyDeleteLove your curtains and they match just fine! Oh boy...truer words were never spoken about renovations...LOL!! Tell John that Sam will never have a car payment either.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on hitting x2! and sometimes you might have to hit x3! your bedroom is looking great! Have a great new year!
ReplyDeleteYou have stressed yourself beyond reason. Here is a home remedy for your head cold, headache...I'm the only one I know who does this but rub some Icy Hot or a similar muscle ache remedy all over your forehead and the back of your neck at the base of your skull. Just be careful not to get it in your eyes. It really helps!
ReplyDeleteThanks for "John Says...Suzan says" chuckle this morning - you never disappoint! Those curtains are an amazing match...Target no less. Hope you're feeling better soon and wishing you a blessed and creative 2014! Are you going to be, like us, in front of the tube with the dial set to CBC tonight for the 22 Minutes and Air Farce New Years specials?
ReplyDeleteMarie@TheInteriorFrugalista
Somehow having a car payment seems worse than a line of credit...interest rates can be lower. So I agree with your original thought on that one, Suzan. And your bedroom and nook area are looking great! Love the curtains.
ReplyDeleteDebbie :)
