Until yesterday I'd never heard of Brian Baker's Deja Vu collection - I'm sure most of you know about it but I'd never seen one in my life...................
Being late for a movie we were going to - we had 2 hours to spare until the next show - and decided to take a look in the Salvation Army to see what they had in the way of furniture - ( hadn't been in over a year - which gave them plenty of time to stock up on at least one decent dresser or coffee table but nada )
However, on my way out I spied this for 3 dollars - and fell in love !
Oh my gosh - if this isn't the cutest thing - the details are amazing !
The curtains in the windows
The awnings - the open and shut windows !
and my favorite part - those doors
They're to hang on a wall - but I love that they're 3 dimensional
I'm hooked - so I've place a bid on this one from Ebay
and bought this one outright.........................
Here's a few others I've fallen in love with - really I want them all !
Apparently they are hand painted and no two are alike ( and I think they are the Artist's renderings of actual buildings )
Suzan says - I think I'm going to collect these
John says - It's tacky
Suzan says - I think it's quite precious actually
John says - You have a warped idea of what precious is.................
And by the way -
Running into the Salvation Army may have saved us from getting acute frost bite - it's so freaking cold here.
It was minus 24 celcius - ( - 11 for you Americans )
On Valentine's day
Criminal !!!
Have a wonderful day everyone !
Much love,
Me

Deja Vu Collection... I am always the last one to know anything! ;-) How cute they are! Thanks for the introduction! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
ReplyDeleteUh oh....a collection is born! I don't know anything about the artist, but that flower shop is so freakin' adorable! We're having the same kind of weather here, Suzan, in an otherwise zone 7a climate! Right now is 6°, real feel -12°, winds 14NNW. Last night the wind was up to 50mph, so scary! Thank goodness only a dusting of snow, but we have a watch for up to 4" and still bitter temps the next few days. Ugh, sick of it. Be cool, stay warm, XO Rita
ReplyDeleteYesterday was one of those days where you get an instant pain in your forehead from being outside ( like what ice cream sometimes does !!! )
DeleteWe didn't get much snow either - but let's not be too thankful - the reason we didn't get snow is because it's too freaking cold to do so LOL !!!
You stay warm too girlfriend !
xoxo
I can not wait to see how you display your collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan ! I have an idea..........................

These are really sweet Suzan! I love the colours in them. I'm sure they are of actual homes/building. Did you Google his name? They remind me of the Lilliput Lane houses, of which I have a few, that are made in England although they aren't as colourful as the ones you are now collecting. :) We're getting THE blizzard here today. It's nasty out there. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI know you're using comment moderation, but hopefully this will get past it. I'll post another reply just in case it doesn't.
ReplyDeleteHere is link to a pdf with all his Deja Vu collection listed with release dates, so you can see how old your pieces are. http://www.brianbakerart.com/DejaVu%20History-Master.pdf
Oh thanks SO much Loribeth - I'm going to check them out later - how sweet of you!!!
Deletexoxox
I think they're charming! I sent you a link to a pdf that lists all of his Deja Vu collection with release dates. I thought you might find it interesting to see when the pieces of your new collection were released!
ReplyDeleteI must be really out of the loop. I don't know the artist nor have I seen any of those pieces...but they are adorable. I love them. I used to collect houses of all sorts several years ago...but pared that collection down to just a few favorite pieces a while back. This makes me want to start all over again. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Sunday- Did you go see Fifty Shade of Grey? lol Just trying to picture John and you watching that!!!! xo Diana
I have never heard of, nor seen these before. Very sweet! Stay warm, big snow and wind here today. xo Patty
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan,
ReplyDeleteLove these cute little houses. The cottage with the pink roses is too adorable. I think this artist has a website if you google it. It is sooooo cold here too. I am counting the days until we thaw! Stay warm.
Kris
How cute! I have never heard of the name or seen anything like these. You certainly found a treasure, I love the thrill of the hunt for a new collection!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rhonda !
DeleteIt's too adorable for words in person - but truly the last thing I needed was another obsession LMHO !
xoxo
New to me as well. Will be interested to see how you display them.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!!! And to think I was grumbling at 31 degrees F .
Hugs, Gee
Hi Suzan....these remind me of two collections that I have...."Cat's Meow" and "Sheilas" (little Victorian homes based on real historical ones)....I arranged them on two 4 foot narrow ledge shelves...Still was overcrowded. I love your new find because of the color and the detail! Very lovely.....you just never know what you might find at the Salvation Army store! Have a great time collecting these!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of your collections either ( I must live under a rock !!! )
DeleteSounds so lovely on ledges !
XOXO
Adorable!! and completely new to me.
ReplyDelete47*F here, sunny with not a cloud in the sky...
{ducking the tomatoes!}
:)))
These are so stinkin' adorable! I have never seen these before. They would look so cute on a plate wall. I like the one you found at Salvation Army the best. I can't wait to see what you do with them. Have a lovely Sunday!
ReplyDeleteUh oh! Now you've done it! Off to Ebay I go! These are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNow we're going to be bidding against each other Charlotte LMHO !!!
DeleteGood luck - they're even cuter in person really :)
xoxo
Suzan these are wonderful. Just makes me sigh and smile :)) Did you find all the hidden umbrellas? (per the back of the one you shared)
ReplyDeleteI hear you on cold.. snowy, blizzardy then windy last night down to -4 F. Then at 7am the power went out. Boo. Came back on at 10:30 am just as the living room temp had dipped to 48 F. Back up to a livable 68 inside but 0 outside. I'll do errands tomorrow.
~ Christina
So cute. I love when the Salvation Army store yields a treasure. I've never heard of these either.

Girlfriend, I can't believe you started a collection of anything while you're doing so many projects. Ka-Ra-Z.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of him but, i love those collection of buildings. The detail is just amazing, good find.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because we love architecture so much?
DeleteI just love them !
xoxo
I have never heard of them either, but I think they are beautiful! Not at all tacky, they have so much detail, very artistically done... love them!
ReplyDeleteThat's way too cold for me to be out. I hope you had your love to keep you warm. Hehehe
ReplyDeleteThose are pretty Suzan! They're new to me. I'll keep an eye out for them now. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteTHREE DOLLARS???!! My friend Amy in Milwaukee had some of these a while back, her sister had bought them for her. I was envious and wanted to steal them.
ReplyDelete***throws tomatoes at Bobbie***
Back in the 1990's, I worked at a gift store in Pointe Claire. We carried the Deja Vu collection and it was very popular at the time. I received three of the houses from the store owner as gifts, one of them was actually signed by the artist- Brian Baker. Collections like this were very popular then. The details are lovely and it was always fun searching out the unbrellas in each piece as they arrived in the store. Hahaha, memories!
ReplyDeleteWell isn't that ironic Kim - the only one who knows about these lives in my neighborhood LOL !!!
DeleteWas it Le Panier that you worked for?
xoxo
They are Gorgeous. Especially like the cute little house with the climbing pink roses climbing on it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great find Susan. Keep it up
I've never heard of them either but am definitely going to learn all I can.
ReplyDeleteBy the way - did you find the hidden umbrella?
Wow what a score. These are really cute..I would love to collect something like this and then I think of the dust that floats in from our gravel road :( Gawd I feel so bad for all of your cold temperatures. We have had an amazing winter here in the west. I can't remember such a beautiful January. I will send some warmth your way!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of The Brian Baker collection. I'm with you on this new obsession they are down right adorable. I can totally see these hanging in your house! I'll keep my eyes open here out west during my thrifting adventures for you.
ReplyDeleteAren't they the cutest?
DeleteThanks so much Marie - I'll be putting them in the guest room ( the kid's one ! )
XOXO
I lived under the same rock until my friend Audrey told me who these were by when at her house. She has many of the ones pictured. I never knew a thing about these. I like the one you saw the best more my style.
ReplyDeleteCindy
I LOVE them! I have a few similar ones that I bought years ago in New Orleans, I must get them out and do something fabulous with them!
ReplyDeleteJenna
This is the first I have ever seen of these. They are lovely. What fun you're having with your new collection. I can't wait to see how you display them. :)
ReplyDelete-11 is cold. We've been -7...overnight the last few days... but it's warmed up to 10. A heat wave!! You needed the SA for sure.
Thanks for sharing your finds with us at Project Inspire[d}!!
Absolutely charming! Good luck with your new collection!
ReplyDeleteKaree
They are beautiful! Off to look at some online. Now we all want one...you knew that would happen! lol Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAnd a new collection is born! These are delightful! Had never heard of The Brian Baker Collection. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe blue cottage with roses on the roof.....that is taken from a REAL house on Nantucket Island, MA. Very famous home that has been painted a gazillion times. You can probably google the rose covered cottage of Nantucket and find it.
ReplyDeleteThese arevso awesomely cute!
ReplyDeleteI think they are adorable too. Great details.
ReplyDeleteI have several of these!!! You have inspired me to do a post on them and other types that I have.... Watch for it in a few days.....
ReplyDeleteHus,
Debbie
I'm pretty sure that the first pink gingerbread house is the famous Pink House in Cape May New Jersey. Maybe they made a series of well known Victorian houses? I love your $3 piece of art but the Pink House holds a lot of sentimental value for me because I've vacationed at Cape May all my life. I'll have to keep an eye out for one. Thanks for sharing your find.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna
DeleteYES !!! His work is all based on actual homes and shops !
Get yourself over to EBAY - there's tons of them - I just received my second one :)
Good luck !
