I started a diet last week - did really well in fact - as of yesterday I was down 5 pounds.
So I did what anyone would do after such a great feat...................I ruined it.
But I HAD to.
Really I just HAD to.
Last week I came across an Ice Cream Sandwich cake ( you all probably know about these but I had never heard of them before ) made by Amee at REAL ADVICE GAL and now have seen a ton of them on Pinterest - so I decided to try my hand ................
First of all I love ice cream sandwiches................LOVE them - so this was going to be a win for me whatever I did.
For those of you that haven't tried it yet - TRY IT !!!!!!!!!!!
I made a mini one because it was just for John and myself - but having said that I still ate half of it - which means I had 2 of them.
Ok - here we go
You place 2 ( or 4 if you're a glutton - or as many as you need if you're having company ) on a dish
Then you slather it with whipped cream
Then place chopped walnuts on top of the whipped cream
Suzan yells out - John - have you seen the hammer?
John says - I thought you were making dessert?
Suzan says - I am - and I need the hammer please
John says - WHAT THE HELL DO YOU NEED THE HAMMER FOR? - as he hands it to me
Suzan says - Thank you - now out of my way - in case it slips out of my hand and lands on your head.
I pounded the nuts.
You work with what you've go - YOU can use a kitchen mallet if you're that type of dessert maker - but tools are very interchangeable for me - I once plastered a wall using a kitchen spatula - I'm very resourceful like that lol
Then I placed 2 more sandwiches over the mix
and repeated the whipped cream and walnuts
for finish I drizzled some Hershey's chocolate sauce syrup over it
It took all of 5 minutes to make - ( if I had company over I would have worked on the presentation a little more - but I was drooling too much to worry about it just for the 2 of us )
You can put it in the fridge to " set " if you'd like
But we dug into this baby the second the syrup landed on top
and it was to D.I.E.
John says - That was absolutely fantastic !!!
Suzan says - Thank you !
John says - No - thank YOU
John says - Can't wait to see what you whip up with pliers !
Calories?
8,346,434
And you know what?
Sometimes that's ok.
Only sometimes, mind you.
Now where are those pliers...................................
Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone !

ReplyDeleteEasy Peasy dessert; love that, and thanks for sharing the recipe. Hubby will love this
" Can't wait to see what you whip up with pliers !" LOL
Yum, yum! I love ice cream sandwiches too. I've made something similar only I use caramel topping instead of chocolate. I'm trying to diet but blew it last night with apple pie ala mode. It was worth it. :-) Sometimes you have to live a little, yes?
ReplyDeleteyou had me at the ice cream sandwiches!
ReplyDeletethat looks amazing and well done on the 5 pounds,, lol!
ReplyDeleteYUM!!!! Thanks Suzan!!! This is perfect for summer!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that I spontaneously drooled into the keyboard here. OMGosh- I have not see this anywhere but I LOVE ice cream sandwiches. That being said- I have a rhubarb crisp in the oven as I type! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSuzan...that looks so yummy!! Congrats on losing 5lbs. I've been on Weight Watchers since the beginning of the year and have lost 25lbs. I have WW Ice Cream Sandwiches and I'm going to put a little whip cream on one and a little chocolate syrup to treat myself...because sometimes it is okay for a treat!!
ReplyDelete~Cindy
Looks delish!!! But I'm more interested in how you lost 5 lbs. I can exercise my butt off and the lbs. just sit right there.
ReplyDeleteSuzan, I would be eating the layers before they made it to the plate. lol Chalk up 4 ice cream sandwiches and enough calories that I wouldn't have to eat again until September. :) mm mmm yummmmmm. ;) ~ Christina
ReplyDeleteOh my God! Now I am craving it! xo Patty
ReplyDeleteTry one Patty - you'll be hooked lol

Now that is not fair to show those of us trying to lose our "winter weight!"
ReplyDeleteI am trying not to drool all over my keyboard! That looks so yummy. I am on a diet too, but I am still going to have an aoccasional treat, otherwise I will never stick to it! I will definitely have to remember this...so I'm pinning it! Have a happy Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI love these kinds of desserts! My son is always asking what is for dessert after I already stated up front there won't be dessert every night!!! This I can do last minute!
