ARMOIRE AS BAR

I have a friend.
And she's kind of in the same boat as we are with selling pretty nice homes and buying nightmare's that suck up the money faster than it can be earned - with nasty non stop surprises.
Except her nightmare has the most amazing potential and she's turning it into a dream come true.
A 300 year old farmhouse - complete with beams.

Hi Patty !!!!!!!!

Anyway she sent me a photo of an armoire that she wants to buy and convert into a wet bar.
WHY WHY WHY did she have to show me this?
This is her inspiration

INDULGY
AND I NEED TO DO THIS
It's not even that I want to - I just need to - don't ask why - I haven't a clue

A couple of years ago John came home with a unit that someone had thrown out - I transformed it into a space saving desk ( but thought it would great as a bar too ! )  You can see the transformation HERE

But it wasn't an armoire

THIS is an armoire !

I've asked if it's still available ( and have no idea on earth how I'll get it home )
We'll see - but I'm now officially on the lookout for a BARmoire !

Not a wet one - a dry one will do quite nicely :)

Thanks Patty !
John is asking that you NOT share any more ideas with me LOL
I told him Dave was thrilled with your brainstorm - shhhh.

Have a great day everyone !
Hugs,
Me

  2. Ok, that may be the best armoire makeover yet. Can't wait to see what you come up with! Good luck on the search (and getting it home).

  3. Suzan, I have the exact same armoire! Please keep us updated, I would love to see how your project turns out! I've been wanting to paint mine, because I don't like the color anymore, but it's hard getting the hubby to agree on that project.

  6. It's going to be gorgeous once you have your way with it. I gave away something similar a few months ago...I just wanted it OUT. Why didn't I think of this?

  7. Suzan, this makes me want to head to the nearest hotel furniture liquidator!! My last armoire (not the best but okay) I paid $89 for and it was solid wood. Sure, I had hopes of rehabbing and painting it ... but I moved before my motivation caught up with my inspiration. (Let's not quibble about time frames, shall we?) Anyway, Patty's sharing that transformation is .... ::: cue Angels singing ::: fabulous. You MUST get that BAR/armoire. :) I have to live vicariously through you.... oh and Patty's farm. :))))) Yowza! ~ Christina

  8. Beautiful armoire . Love the idea of transforming it into a bar. Just needs a small refrigerator on the bottom to keep that wine and beer cold.
Suzan, 2 bad we don't live closer, as we could haul it for you in our pick-up. Rent a truck and go get it or find a good neighbor to see if they would haul it for you for maybe a small fee.
    Do keep us posted.

  9. I hereby pledge (fingers crossed behind my back) to swear I will not share any more ideas! Like that will happen .... I hope you can get the armoire home and start it's transformation. Can't wait to see if I get a response to my low ball offer on the one I am looking at. xo Patty

  13. Oh man this is so timely. I was at my local Restore spending some good time when I should have been doing laundry. And I find a old 80' ish tv cabinet. The pocket doors were in great shape. Even the shelf where the VCR went was still intact. It had 2 doors at the bottom with shelves but one door only had one hindge. But what caught my eye was the carved grape clusters in the corners. My mind jumps to Wine Cabinet!! But it was still a bit over my budget. But smart minds think alike...and your post today is a sign!! (or that's the excuse I'm using)
I'm gonna go back on Monday and if it's still there I'll make them an offer...thanks for the kick in the cabinet to get me to rethink it..

  14. That's a cool furniture to turn into a bar. It's one gorgeous piece!

By the way, I visited your kitchen posts and for a vintageous gal you are pretty modern.

I also learnt something big but I will keep it secret to make a post out of it. It has to do with something your kitchen has lots of: character. :)
