My daughter inherited these from her Aunt Dawn..................
These were huge in the 70's - and I remember these sitting on her dresser !
2 perfume decanters
and 2 picture frames
My daughter gave me one set - and after telling me she was going to make one of the frames a tray -
I decided to copy her idea by removing the " stand " part on the back of the frame and covering the insert
( the piece behind the glass ) with some pale aqua tissue paper I had - just wrapping it like a gift basically
Actually much messier than that - but the same concept lol
And of course painting ( dry brushing really ) the entire piece with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint ™ - in pure white
Then I moved on to the decanter - with the same paint - and added a monogram by using a stencil and scraping the paint off so that the monogram is in glass ( yes, you can definitely paint glass with chalk paint ! )
It's perfect for one of the guest rooms - a place to drop jewelry etc..............
It's about as shabby chic as you can get don't you think?
Ok time to stop playing - I have an armoire to paint !!!
Have a wonderful Thursday

Turning a picture frame into a tray is a great idea. And I have collected a few perfume bottles over the years. No vintage ones...just my empty ones. I love them. Have a fabulous weekend, Suzan!
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely gorgeous Suzan! I love the aqua tissue paper with the white chippy paint. Just beautiful!

I love this! I think vintage items are so pretty in homes and the perfume bottle on the tray looks so elegant. I am actually starting a Link Party on my blog www.inthenewhouse.com and the first one is this Thursday. I'd love for you to stop by and share a post. Hope to see you there! --Lela

That is so clever! I didn't realize you could paint glass with chalk paint and have it look so amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis turned out to be lovely... nice way to change the outdated items. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! I would have thought to paint the frame, but not the bottle. Love how it turned out!
