This crate I bought in the summer is one of my favorite new things to decorate with !
We used it for a picnic basket originally but it can so easily be filled with anything for any season.
Flowers in the summer...............Christmas greenery in the winter.
For Fall it makes the perfect backdrops for gold and red and orange.
I originally stained it ...............but painted would be just as good
I filled it up with some Dollar Store foliage - spending 10.00
The crate cost 7.99 from Home Depot ( but they sell these all over ) and looks like this - a blank canvas
And there you have it - a seasonal interchangeable decor item for under 20.00 !
Hope today is a wonderful one for all of you !
Much love,
Me

That is one lovely and versatile crate, and the stain compliments the Fall foliage. The sign is really great too! Lot's of wise words there!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Mary - I want to run out and buy a ton of these crates now LOL !

ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rhonda !

Super cute. I love stained wood. I used the $ store flowers too....they were pretty nice this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Karen !
DeleteI'm so impressed with the dollar store lately LOL
XOX
Oh how I love crates!
ReplyDeleteI love how you decorated the crate with a fall theme. Lots of possibilities there. The sign is great too and it all makes a sweet vignette. Have a great week Suzan!
ReplyDeleteI really like it! Simple, not fussy, but very elegant ~
ReplyDeleteLove it Suzan soooo pretty with all the fall foliage. Have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteKris
looks like you're getting all decked out for Fall and before you know it Christmas will be here
ReplyDeleteWhat a crate idea!! Sorry...I just couldn't help myself! I have some of these but they are pretty plain--no paint, no stain; most are ho-hummly being used to store stuff in. Always love your projects and are inspired by them! I'll have to see what I can do with one of our empty crates. Just have to go find it! Thanks for sharing and for writing Friday Chat--it's always entertaining and makes me laugh every time!
ReplyDeleteWow, I was just looking at these crates on the HD site the other night. I am going to get one...or 2! Like you said, great for all seasons!!
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to get a crate or two for myself. Yours look great! You got a good price, too. Even the ones at our Wal-Mart are $10.00! :) xokathleen
ReplyDeleteWhere did you ever find the sign in front of the crate??!?? It is absolutely beautiful and so perfect for Thanksgiving! (I know you didn't get it from the Dollar store, but it certainly looks worth the extra pennies......or dimes.....or dollars!) Thanks! Nanny
ReplyDeleteI bought that from Amazon !
DeleteHere's the link for the sign

It's a Canadian company so I'm not sure what the shipping would cost - but the sign itself is only 6.99 which means it's probably a quarter in U.S - LOL !!!
Thanks SO much
Yours turned out wonderful. Great price too. Some things really are cheaper to buy than make.
ReplyDeleteI like the dark stain, Suzan. It looks great with the Fall foliage and the vignette you've created.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Julie !

I'm in love...sooo cute and there's just something about a crate...we all love 'em....
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun Fallifying project! You are an inspiration! Picked the cat tails or rather my husband jumped in the ditch and cut them with my directing. Well they have exploded and there are masses of fluff in the corner, must take care of them! Xxx
ReplyDeleteI'm officially Fallify'ed Mary Anne and now I'm ready to move on to Christmas LMHO !!!
DeleteYou got your cattails !
That's the reason I don't pick them anymore by the way - the explosion of fluff - although I love them they're probably best for outdoor decorating LOL
Ok - go sweep girlfriend !

Hi Suzan!
ReplyDeleteBoy, you really transformed an ordinary crate into a beautiful centerpiece! Very creative! You continue to impress me! I hope you're doing well!
Laura, et al
Hey Laura !
DeleteDon't be all that impressed - it's just stain and dollar store foliage LOL !!!
I'm doing great - had my fix of little Evan last night :)
Hope you're doing well too !

Great idea. That is just darling and I love crates. I always have and had tons of them in my house back in the 70's for book shelves and storage....just starting out and they were plentiful and made my house a home. Love yours!!! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI've seen those and I believe they also have a smaller size. Yours looks very pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove the crate and how you decorated it...so pretty!
ReplyDelete~Cindy
I keep eyeing those crates at Michaels. I love how you transformed yours into rustic goodness, Suzan! My son bought two and painted them white, attached decorative metal sheets over the openings to house and hide electronic components. They look fabulous. So many uses for these little devils!
ReplyDeleteHi Marie - thanks !
DeleteYour son's sound amazing - way over my skill level !
xox
Now I want to run out and buy several of those crates too!
ReplyDeleteLove your fall decor, and that sign is wonderful--want that too!
xo Pat
Thanks so much Pat !
DeleteI want to run out and buy several MORE of them LOL
XOXO
I see these at Walmart and I keep thinking I'll buy one. I like how you painted and decorated yours. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteI love it all but especially the Be Happy sign. Where did you find that or did you make it? I want one!! Thanks, hon.
ReplyDeleteLove your crate! I am working on the very same for a Christmas project. So much fun and a great challenge. Thanks for linking up to our Tips & Tricks party. Hope to see you next week,

Your crate is perfect for a fall vignette! Thanks for joining Home Sweet Home!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of crates not being used in the garage, will have to drag them out now and have fun. Spent so much time early in our marriage living on and in crates, lol. ---Thanks for the ideas! Sandi
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan. I just came on to see if the party was ready for this week and your crate caught my eye. I had no idea it was you as it is different from what you usually post but it really caught my eye. What a simple idea that turned into one most beautiful. I love it and I'm glad I saw it..Happy Wednesday..Judy
