Because there's days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one home that's for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )

Good mornin', good mornin'!
I've painted the whole night through,
good mornin', good mornin' to you.
Good mornin', good mornin'!
It's great to stay up late,
good mornin', good mornin' to you.
When the paint began to set
the sun was shinin' bright.
Now the wax is still quite wet
it's too late to say goodnight.
So, good mornin', good mornin'!
Sunbeams will soon smile through,
good mornin', my bloggers, to you.
And on to this weeks feature!
I just love the color of the exterior stone - looks like red clay - and those dormer window are beyond charming
Nice wide entrance way - a lot of these houses are very narrow - I love that this one's wide - I'm also loving the light - and the benches - and the board and batten walls - and the radiator ( I LOVE RADIATORS!!! )
Living room - love the fireplace -
big enough to accomodate 2 sofas - a chair - and a piano - amazing, considering one wall is designated for a fireplace ( please keep in mind these are city homes - and I know they are not so large by suburbian standards )
I know this is not as state of the art as some of the previous ones - but I can't tell you how much I love this room -
It's definitely my favorite so far - I love the mix of contempory and country and think they nailed it - those pendant lights are to die for!
Ok - I'm actually speechless now - I so want to be sitting there having a glass of tea and just staring into the garden
Let's go upstairs
again - I'm speechless
Love the window - and the built in cover for the radiator - hmmm - where does that door lead to?
Oh - it's the master bedroom deck!!! - can you just imagine a couple of lounges - or even day beds out here?
How adorable is the garden?
parking spot in back ( parking is also a premium in the city - a garage is great - but a parking pad will do!
And there you have it - no photos of the basement or bathrooms ( or secondary rooms for that matter ) but I'm happy with what I've seen so far - yours for 1,695,000.00
And I would definitely live there :)
Ok - this next feature is a BONUS for anyone who's a history buff.....................
This summer there was an article written up on an old Victorian cottage in the city of Montreal ( not my neighbourhood but I'm making an exception this week - because this is unbelievable ) about a home that a doting husband and father built for his family in 1920. Be prepared to don your Mrs. Havisham garments
( if you don't know who Mrs. Havisham is please get yourself a copy of Great Expectations )
He was a contractor - and so paid extra attention to craftmanship and details - making it state of the art for the time.....................
I was thrilled to find it while looking at real estate to show for today's post - this is the first time it's been listed - ever.
They lived in this house until their passing, and a son and daughter ( who had never left home ) remained until their eventual passing as well.
Nothing has been touched - ( Grey Gardens anyone? ) and it almost feels sacriligeous to go wandering around their home - because it is a sacred tribute to days gone by - to street cars - and oil lamps - to
boys in short pants and girls in pinafores - to newspaper vendors on corners yelling out the days news to corner drugstores and mom & pop shops. I'm a lover of history and a lover of homes so this fits me like a glove.
I hope you can see past the condition it's in and imagine it in all of it's glory 92 years ago when a young bride must have surely gasped in delight when she first entered her new home. I see past the decrepit shape it's in - and see romance ( John sees one of the ugliest houses he's ever seen in his life so be prepared ) I LOVE IT and would love to get my hands on it and lovingly restore it back to it's original splendour - oh and I would love to have the furniture too.
I have to send you to the link - cannot copy and paste the photos - they paste as itsy bitsy teen weeny yellow polka dot bikini photos....................so if you don't have the time, it's ok, but you are missing out on something pretty spectacular if you don't click on the link below - if a home can be eerie and frightening and romantic and beautiful at the same time, then this is it - it's right out of To Kill a Mocking Bird!
Have a Wonderful Wednesday everyone
