I WANNA live there Wednesday # 12

I live in a pretty incredible area - It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by.)

Because there's days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one home that's for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Good morning everyone!

It's that time again - and boy do I have a beauty to show you this week
This home was built in 1875 ( makes mine look new at the turn of the century lol )
and it's listed at 1,575,000.00 -
7 bedrooms
3 bathrooms

Come on in everybody.................
TAKE your shoes off
TAKE it all in
and most of all
TAKE your time

I have to say the one thing I love about these heritage homes is how totally unassuming they look from the front - just a simple classic row house

If I had that kind of money to plunk down - I'd simply write a cheque from the next photo alone........I would just send my chauffeur over with a cheque and tell him to politely hand it over to the owner -
Those antique front doors? O.M.G.
The work on the stairwell?
And that white hutch over on the right hand side?
Ok - ready for the next one

the fireplace, the built ins, the chandy, oh my............

words are now starting to fail me - not a good thing for a blogger

the SECOND stairwell  going up to the 3rd floor

music room anyone ? do re mi fa so la ti do - I was meant to have one of these - not to actually play - but to drape myself across at parties - that was the Suzan I was meant to be
and as Cher sang:
I'm a scamp, a vamp and a bit of a tramp

not my favorite bathroom in the series - but I'll take it
and if you saw my bathroom you'd vomit so don't know who the hell I am exactly to make such a comment lol

Is that blind the sweetest thing ever?  there you go friends, a new diy project - looks easy
peasy!!!

obviously that's the kids bath - and playroom - surely that much space can't be used for just one purpose?

Ok - shut the freaking door will you please?
No I mean that literally, shut the door, I want to just sit in this closet and reflect for awhile, maybe stare at shoes for a couple of hours......................

Upper balcony - one of 3

Those spiral staircases are very unique to Montreal - they're everywhere, even in the fronts of a lot of buildings and they are usually Black Wrought Iron.............this was apparently the Irish influence at the turn of the century ( although I can tell these are not the original ones - they must have been replaced ) as a young child I was able to run up and down these ( sometimes in roller skates ) as a teenager I would lug a bike up and down staircases very similar to these..................

I just love this outdoor space - no lawn mower ! and that's the door to the garage  my workshop whenever I win enough to buy this place.

And I'm going to show you next week's this week ( because I'm nice like that )
and show you what you can get for half the price - 839,000 - it has an immense amount of potential - I know there'll be things you aren't so crazy about it - but think POTENTIAL ok?
Because it's absolutely swimming in it!!!

I love the double molding - it's all over this place

gorgeous

and I know a lot of people would not agree with me - I would want to see this bathroom restored - not renovated - except for the vanity - that needs to be an old dresser!

check out that small round window - shows you how thick the walls used to be

ok so that was all a little depressing lol
see you tomorrow!

Tom Petty says it best - Free Fallin'

Good Monday everybody!
The below is a post from last September ( when none of you knew me from a hole in the head! )
So last night I crept out in the dark of the night and started snipping away and thought ( this feels vaguely familiar ) so I'm reposting ( and adding a few photos from last nights criminal activity )
And by the way, I know I am the only one in blogland that feels this way but I DON'T LIKE AUTUMN, at all - it's too close for winter for me - and it represents an ending in my mind -  it's my least favourite season - so maybe that's why I'm content to not spend any money on decorating for it lol

And I'm free, and I'm free falling...........................

John is in Europe this week - and I was just too lazy to walk down to the market to get my flowers ( even
though I did walk to my hairdressers and back - which was about 7 miles in total - very very proud of myself!!!! )
So I decided to steal from my garden - this is my first attempt at drying hydrangeas - I am in love - the different shades look soooo pretty - I think these will stay for a long time,
And I say steal because it is in fact what I have done - my neighbour split in with us to purchase these plants so technically they are only half mine - I literally went out in the middle of the night in my housecoat with snippers.................and because it was the middle of the night there were slugs on them, ughhhhh.
I had already bought 4 dried hydrangeas - so only added to what I already have.
Am I completely nuts?
Yep, that would be me

and if that were not enough I ran back out again and cut these from a bush that we just planted ( and of which the costs were also shared )

Is it ok to commit an act of petty theft if it makes your heart happy, lol
I even had the thought of taking snippers when I take Soda out for her walk late at night
and snipping here and there, can you imagine?  Would that make her an accomplice?

My new best friend ( power to the people my friends )

If you see me walking around your neighbourhood - be careful, be very very careful.

Do you think I could actually blame Soda?  Hmmm, she looks a little guilty to me

You look like an angel
Walk like an angel even bark like an angel
But I got wise
You're the devil in disguise

........................Tell it to the judge, lady.

So now on to this year -  I was a little braver last night ( or the bush has grown since then - because last night's bounty brought me this

Vintage water jugs make great vases - especially when sitting on books :)

but that was waaaayyyyy before I knew how to do this!

OR THIS

AND THIS

EVEN MY SCREEN SAVER WAS STAGED FOR FALL

oh and what's that I see peeking out over the tree tops?

It's the file for Danni's " stuffed acorn squash " - told you I was saving this one to try Danni!!!
You can find the recipe HERE - and here's what sold me!  Doesn't it look fabulous?

And that is how I managed to get some Free Falling done around the house -
Cost?
NOT A PENNY - except maybe a day or two in jail if I'm ever caught and even then I would blame Soda - sorry sweetheart I love you, but................................

I have a feeling no one would be able to identify you anyway

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY
