KNOTTY PINE ( BEFORE & AFTER ) DRESSER

Wow - these knots did not want to go away.

2 coats of shellac.........................
2 coats of primer ( Zinnser - BIN - shellac based )
3 coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint later ( Pure white )
and wax

And here she is...............meet Nellie ( the naughty pine dresser )

Who used to look like this

Her owner wanted to lighten things up - and  you can't get much lighter than white :)
I love the hinges - they just faded into the dresser before

all the edges were distressed..............

including the wood knobs ( if it were mine I'd switch them all out for pretty glass ones - but it's not so I'm just going to mind my own beeswax ) but just in case someone's reading this post PLEASE PUT GLASS KNOBS ON THIS BEDROOM SET - THANKS !

I hadn't sanded the mirror yet in these photos - but wanted to show it anyway - I love the harp style

Though I seldom paint interiors - I always paint any and all trim around the peremeters so that it's looks
" finished " - I also often add a little detail - in this case the same that I put on the matching end table -
A little surprise when you open the door :)

I also painted a mantel for them....................but other than attaching it to my wall - which I was going to do and then realized just in time that John would kill me - and then you'd all be left wondering what happened to me forever more - I can't really get a good pic of it
So it's sitting on top of the dresser ready to go

Nellie's ready to dance out the door

And up next?
The Armoire !
And the piece I'm most excited to do

The power of paint never gets old for me
Neither does transforming furniture :)

Have a wonderful Monday everyone !
Much love,
Me

PEONIES

John says - The house smells like a funeral parlor

But he's wrong

The house smells like peonies

It's been raining every day - and the poor things were on the ground - so I ran around ( in the rain )
trying to save them

After removing 3,438,342 ants from them that is.
I think one's crawling up my leg as I type

Suzan says - And while we're talking about funeral parlors - I want peonies when I go
John says - Go where?
Suzan says - you know - go
John says - Why the hell are you saying that?
Suzan says - Just so you know - they're my favorite and that's what I want
John says - Will you be leaving instructions on how to decorate the room too?
John says - You're morbid
Suzan says - No I'm not !!!  I just know what I want, that's all
Suzan says - What type do you want?
John says - A Venus Fly trap
Suzan says - Well you can't just have one - I'll get you a whole bouquet of them !!!
Suzan says - Oh and I'd like my casket to be white - lightly distressed please - maybe a stencil on the inside as a little " surprise ".
John says - You're sick you know.

So now we have that out of the way - these things are important you know

Almost as important as saving Peonies from the garden

If I were an artist I'd paint them
But I can't draw a stick figure to save my life - so instead I'm just very grateful

That for a few weeks every summer - they grace my garden
I love all flowers - really I do - but none quite as much as the.......................

In a mason jar.............

Have a wonderful day everyone ♥
I have another furniture makeover tomorrow :)
Hugs,
Me
