A DESK......................for Izzy

When James ( John's son - my step ! ) asked that we find him a desk for Izzy ( Isabella ) my first thought was :
For Izzy?
School?
WHERE DOES IT GO?
I mean really - where on earth does the time go?

My second thought was - well Mr.Craig -  here I come !
And he so seldom disappoints that it's not even worth mentioning.

He offered this.................
For 15.00 dollars.- I don't usually find prices that incredible but every now and then the stars are aligned just perfectly.

( the chair was a bonus - can you believe it?  at 15.00 dollars to get a bonus? )
It doesn't fit the desk at all ( in size anyway ) so that will be saved for another makeover because I happen to be in love with it :)

I got out my ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT ™
Old White
Paris Grey
two of my favorite combo's with chalk paint and went to town on my blank canvas - adding details that I thought would suit little Izzy perfectly.

And here's what I came up with..............

I have what I call my little red treasure box of stencils from Michaels - there's tons of them in there and they last quite a long time considering they're thick paper ( not plastic so can't be washed ) I think I paid 6 or 7 dollars for the pack !

I painted those white " frames " by putting painter's tape on the outside as a guide - but I free handed the other side ( does that make sense to you ? ) because I didn't want perfection - I wanted it to kind of look cartoonish like ( well ! obviously cartoonish is not a word because I'm getting squiggly lines underneath it - but it should be a word, shouldn't it? )  I speak " ISH " and think a lot of words sound better by adding it the end of them.

For the top - to give it a little interest - I painted it first with Old White - 2 coats - then I put a coat of Paris Grey wash ( half paint - half water ) as soon as I painted the grey on it - I took a cloth and wiped it back and forth to make streaks.................

I sprainted the handles - that's definitely not a word I know - I invented it to replace spray + paint - feel free to use it whenever you like :)

Suzan says - Do you think you could help me bring the desk outside to take photos
John says - WHY?
Suzan says - There's no room in the house to get a decent shot
John says - YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME - WE BOUGHT THIS HOUSE BECAUSE YOU NEEDED MORE ROOM

We almost took out one of the back door windows carrying it out LOL.................

John says - What's next ?  A house with 15 rooms that you can crowd with furntiure?

And that's the story of a desk makeover

2 coats of clear wax for protection and this is where Izzy - the future Doctor - gets her start :)

Love,
Lolli & Pop !

Suzan says - Ok John - ready to bring it back in
Suzan says - John?
Suzan says - JOHN???

Have a wonderful day everyone !
Another heat wave warning is being called for today - but in between jumping in the pool I'll be working on this beauty

For now?
Another one bites the dust..............

See you tomorrow !
Hugs,
Me ( ish )

I WANNA live there Wednesday # 134

Good morning everyone !!!

Hope you're having a great week !

We're smack in the middle of a heat wave here in Montreal - late in the season but the temps have been hitting 40 C with the humidity ( that's roughly 105 in " American " )  so I've been alternatively painting and jumping in the pool :)

This week's house is in Provincetown - MA
1873 sq. feet
3 beds -
2.5 baths
1,600.000
Realtors :  ROSE KENNEDY   STEPHEN BRISCOE    BRETT HOLMES

Listing reads :

Located in an enclave is this newly built home surrounded by an English garden, with picket fencing, hydrangeas and climbing roses. Traditional with substantial finishes that are light and airy, the design focuses on a modern lifestyle with a nod to entertaining. Enter home into reception area opening to a living room with fireplace and music area. Off this space is the kitchen and dining room leading to the patio for outdoor dining, overlooking the parterre garden. The custom kitchen has chef grade appliances. Second level is for guests with two well sized bedrooms with cathedral ceilings, which share a custom bath. One has private deck. Master is in a separate wing with cathedral ceilings, French doors to a private patio and garden, walkin closet and an ensuite bath w/shower room. This home is filled with impressive finishes!

Although it's a new build it has tons of character - I thought it was a much older home !
I'm so in love with that herringbone brick walkway - and that fountain is just perfection isn't it?
I would never think to put one on such a small walkway.

The golden rule - LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
And this one's worth it's weight in gold.............

Now excuse me - I'm off to make this fixer upper of mine worth at least it's weight in tin.................
