I WANNA live there Wednesday # 137

Good morning everyone !

Living so close to the border is something most Canadians do...............for instance here in Quebec ( we're the largest Canadian province ) we border New York - New Hampshire - Vermont and Maine.  And that's just to the south of us - we also border Ontario - James Bay - Hudson Bay - as well as Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick ( plus a few places even I've never heard of )
That's a lot of territory!

Campobello Island is in New Brunswick ( and also borders Maine ) - and is most famous for the fact that it was where the U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt spent his summers with his family - from infancy until he became an adult - where upon he built his own 34 room summer retreat on the island.  It's now the main attraction at Campobello International Park.

So I thought I'd check out what else is available in water front properties and came across this gem !

Welshpool - Campobello
329,000
Year built 1906
1800 Sq Ft
Garden Shed

Realtor : ROBERT HOOPER

This is truly a slice of paradise - even if you weren't crazy about the home ( I am ) to have that view as your backyard would be priceless, don't you think?

What a perfect venue for family weddings this would make !!!

Ok - time to step inside !

That is the most glorious stove - really - how beautiful is that - and it's included in the sale !

A separate walk in pantry

I'll take that dresser too please - thank you

Doesn't it make you feel like you stepped back to an easier, simpler time?

The Roosevelts at Campobello
Campobello was the "beloved" summer retreat for the Roosevelt family, shaping Franklin into a great leader, and encouraging Eleanor to become an independent woman.

I've been to New Brunswick - but never to Campobello Island - t's now officially on my bucket list - and since we border that province it shouldn't be a difficult bucket to fill :)

Have a wonderful day everyone !
Much love,
Me

An End Table makeover

Good morning all !

Most people go out early in the morning to have a cup of coffee ( or tea )
Me?
I dart out with a piece of furniture.
In my p.j's
With my hair up in a clip.
It's not pretty.
But this is, isn't it?

When I spotted this little table ( with a headboard ) I thought it would coordinate nicely with the dresser I did last week ( HERE )

Even though they don't have the same lines - they're both French Provincial - and by tying in the colors they do look like a set, don't they?

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Paris Grey & Old White - you can never go wrong !

The knobs were painted to match the dresser's too

I just KNEW when I saw this ad for sale

that it was meant to look like this

Now I think maybe I'll make a tea - and go outside with it - and pretend I'm all normal like !

Have a wonderful day - we've got another heat warning in effect here today
Good old Montreal hit 41 with the humidex yesterday ( 105 ish in American talk ) and more of the same today.- any physical work I need to do has to be done by 10 a.m.- so I'd better move my butt on the headboard

and Soda wants to go for her morning ritual

Much love,
Me

A CRATE - A BOX - A WHATEVER

Good Morning All !

I picked this up at Home Depot about a month ago................I think it was 7.99

First I stained it.................and then I made a couple of signs out of shims................

I dry brushed  them with some white chalk paint - and than used stencils and a sharpie for the rest

I simply attached it with binder clips

The stain took to it so beautifully

It'll sit on the washer or dryer - I'm going to get another one to put castors on for magazines - but in the meantime we decided yesterday that we'd go for an impromptu ( how's that for a fancy word - I know I know - what a command of the English language ! ) picnic so I decided to quickly turn it into a picnic basket

John says - What in God's name are you doing?
Suzan says - Taking photos for the blog
John says - Sometimes I think you try to outcrazy yourself from day to day
Suzan says - WHY?
John says - What are you - 5 years old?

Suzan says - But today's the day that the teddy bears go on their picnic !
Suzan says - If you go down in the woods today - you're sure of a big surprise - if you go down to the woods today -  you'd better go in disguise !!!

John walks away - shaking his head -
John says - C'mon Soda - Mommy's losing her mind again

Suzan says - Wait !!!
Suzan says - You forgot your disguise !
Suzan says - Can I take a pic of you in yours?
John says - Buzz off

Well I don't have a bee disguise - so these will have to do I suppose.................

I'm the foxy fox by the way..................

Now excuse me - I have to work on releasing John's inner child .................it's gotta be in there..............
somewhere.

Have a wonderful Monday one and all !
Happy Labor day !
( Ashley just may go INTO labor today now that I think of it ! )
Hugs,
Me

A DESK MAKEOVER ( think pink )

Good morning everyone !

BEFORE & AFTER PAINTED DESK

This was the first Friday in a while that I didn't have time to " chat " because I'm trying desperately to clean out my " stash " of furniture in order to start working on the dining room !
DO NOT LOOK AT THE HANDLES - I OBVIOUSLY HAD A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT WHICH WAY WAS THE RIGHT WAY !!!
( this happens every single time I do a French Provincial something or other - I swear to you - both ways look right to me )

ASCO CHALK PAINT - ANTOINETTE

This way is the wrong way

and the scariest part is I didn't even notice I had them going in both directions !

John says - Something's off with the handles
John says - Can you please let your readers know that I pointed that out for you please - thank you.

The desk was part of the set that I did for Evan's nursery - ( HERE )

I went in a completely different direction since there was no space for it in his room.
( I held on to it for as long as I could - hoping against hope that Ashley would store it for future use but she told me there was no way she could - ABSOLUTELY NO WAY - and so the makeover began this week and will be sold.. It's from a high end furniture line and is exactly 43 years old ( it was my nephew's - and then my niece's ) but it looks like it was made yesterday - it's in immaculate shape for it's age.

The chair - however - was in rough shape ( and of course I didn't take a before - of course not )

PAINTED DESK CHAIR

After unsucessfully searching for just the right fabric I ended up reupholstering the seat with drop cloth..................and painted the grain sack pattern on it - it's a perfect " fit " !

DESK CHAIR MAKEOVER

and then I decided to have a little fun with this makeover - with the hutch - to make it look like a country piece for a little girls room

BEFORE & AFTER DESK - ASCP ANTOINETTE & OLD WHITE

Perfect timing for back to school days :)

ANTOINETTE AND OLD WHITE PAINTED DESK

Ok - on to the next piece ( s )

It's been hot here in Montreal - very hot as in 37 degrees celcius with humidity ( 98 in American ) and today they've got a  " Heat Warning " in effect.................guess I'll spend some time in the pool - this may just be the last hurrah !

ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT ™ - Antoinette and Old White - with clear wax for protection

Have a wonderful one everybody !

PIPBERRY GARLAND ( rustic goodies )

Good morning everyone !

I was answering emails last week and low and behold I saw an email of Amazon - advising me that I might be interested in some Pipberry garland !

My first thought was " What the heck is pipberry " ?
I didn't have a clue ( what rock have I been living under ? )
My second thought was " How the heck would Amazon know that I'd like that " ?
And my third ( and final thought on the subject ) was how the heck does Amazon know me better than John does?

In fact I liked them so much that once I received my shipment I ran to the computer to order some more.
Be careful - some sellers are selling them for 35.00 -
I had ordered 3 strands .............each are 40 inches long - so each one makes a decent size wreath

I just wrapped this around a wreath frame very quickly to show you what it looked like - please don't mind the frame showing - it only has one piece around it - could use 2  ( personally I don't mind it like this at all - I kind of like it sparse looking )

I HAD to share this - because it's an exceptional deal - they want almost 100 dollars for some wreaths - this was 11.99 ! ( isn't it the cutest Fall wreath with it's little rusted stars ? )

The next email suggested these black stars.............I'll take a couple of them too - thanks for thinking of me !
2 for 14.99 - 11 inches............( really - this is the most decent kind hearted company LOL )
I don't want to turn this into an affiliated post but you can just google the following

Craft Outlet Antique Star Wall Decor, 11-Inch, Black, Set of 2

John says - What's with all the stars - do you think you're in Texas?

And then another email popped up - offering this shabby sign made out of tin.................
Just under 12 inches - for 6.99
I grabbed that also...............even if there were no stars attached.
Shipping was free - so all of it combined cost much less then a wreath would have.
But please Mr. Amazon....................leave me alone now - between you and Mr Craig ( SLIST ) trying to compete for my affections it's getting exhausting.
And John's getting jealous..................or pee'd off - I can't tell.

Have a great day everyone !
Hugs,
Me
