I WANNA live there Wednesday # 38

I live in a pretty incredible area - in Montreal, It's an historical neighbourhood loaded with tons and tons of charm - and 20th century architecture, just steps away from the city center, it's also a pretty expensive neighbourhood ( in which I live in servants quarters basically compared to what I'm surrounded by )
Because there are days I don't have furniture makeovers to show you - I've chosen Wednesdays to showcase and feature one or two homes that are for sale around here.................( or apartment - or duplex - or teepee )
Keep in mind this is in the heart of the city - so the prices reflect that  - think Manhattan - where these places would cost 3 or 4 times what they're listed for here!
On occasion I'll showcase beautiful homes in other areas - countries - continents - the one thing most of them will have have in common will be their age - because I love old homes with stories to tell, join me won't you?

Good Morning All !!!
Thought we'd go " big " this week - these are 2 new listings that I spotted!!!

First one up is listed for 4,375,000
6 Bedrooms - 5 1/2 baths
Majestic residence located on one of the most sought-after streets in Westmount. Luxurious ground floor den of ample proportions & stunning architectural details opens unto a terrasse overlooking a huge landscaped garden. A custom-designed kitchen boasts top-of-the line appliances, marble counter-tops & a cosy dinette with banquettes. A true gem.
Realtors JILL SHPRITSER and MAUREEN BROSSEAU

Let's go

The ceilings make me swoon - so does the built ins surrounding the fireplace !!!

I would never - never - think to paint a room this color - and I just LOVE it here -

Butlers pantry?  Check out the glass doors on those cupboards!!!!

I actually had to take a break - make a tea - and come back before posting the next one - these are so beyond the realm of my world that it's exhausting lol - it's a weird thing to live among such architectural beauty but to not be " of " it !

The next one up is selling for 2,695,000
5 Bedrooms - 4 baths - 2 half baths
Built in 1909
Realtor BUNNY BERKE

Got your Tea or Coffee ready?
On we go!

Perfection?

Definitely!!!

Now here's a staircase for you!

Suzan says - this would be my office
John says - No - I think this would be mine
Suzan says - in your dreams darling
John says - Well - actually, in YOUR dreams too

but Oh - What a dream to have..................

And this basement?
OMG
I don't think I'd let John have his office anywhere in this house!!!

How's that for smack in the middle of the city?
Walking distance ( or a 5 minute Rolls Royce ride )  from the Theater

That's it for today - gotta clean my little 5 room flat!!!

Have a great Wednesday all - and don't forget to buy a lottery ticket :)

Much love,

  1. wow! What its like to have money!
I like the first house better than the second one, maybe its because the furnishings are in the first one but I find the second one a bit tooo modern for me, but I love them both!!!

  2. I just put out expenses towards moving into the last posting you put up and now I have to cancel plans and move into your first selection here. Tell them they can just leave the furnishings and stuff, it'll save me time and money. ;)

  4. My husband and I have always wanted to visit there. I can't believe I've never been! We are in Boston so it wouldn't even be that bad, I don't think, to travel there. Lovely post Suzan!

  7. Suzan these are unreal, the first is my favorite with the detailing in the woodwork. Love the ceiling details and the entry is a knock out over the door. What a great dining room and I would never think to use that color either but it looks great! Just stunning as always.

  11. Hi Suzan - I've seen some of your previous work on linky parties and in blogosphere and did not realize you are also in Montreal. I live pretty close by, in the South Shore (Saint-Hubert). There are so few bloggers here and so it's nice to have found you. Love your humour!

    2. I did start one. I'm still a newbie, so it's still in it's beginning stages (Orphans With MakeUp).

  12. I'm all over that sleek and beautiful second one. It looks ready for me to move right in. Get a load of that staircase! Once again, my home seems like a closet in light of these mansions, but cleaning a closet would be a lot easier than cleaning either of these. I find it helps to look on the bright side in such instances when glamor and wealth are dangled in front of me. Besides, I'm going junking tomorrow morning. I think my trashy finds would be a bit out of place there. Of course, there might be a room or two I could use for storage there!

  13. I think I prefer the first one. I believe the second was made in something a little more modern. On the other hand, I'm not thinking very clearly lately. Any house that has a sink in its kitchen is my dream house... That's what renovation and doing the dishes in the bath tub will do to you.
I forwarded this post to my mom: since we read last week post together when I was visiting, she's hooked on "I wanna live there"!

  14. Hi Suzan,
The first one while beautiful it would be too intimidating for me!!!! The second one so pretty. Love the stair case and the floors. So charming inside and out.

Due to a large amount of spam ( that I'm tired of going back to posts and deleting ) I'll be using comment moderation from now on !!!
Can I beat these spammers at their own game? Probably not - but I'm going
to try my damnedest !!!
