I WANNA live there Wednesday # 62

Good morning everyone !

Since I started this series I've showcased some pretty spectacular homes - and usually try to find some with as much architectural details as possible................and let's face it - for the most part I pick over the top beautiful homes - or homes with immense potential to become over the top beautiful homes - but every now and then I come across one that almost makes me gasp.
Because as much as a home can look like a designer stepped into it with her magic fairy wand - a designer cannot create the LOVE that so obviously goes into some of these.

One of a kind home, sitting on a 3 acres point of land on the Lake of Two Mountains. Here is your chance to watch the sun setting over the lake from your own living room! Over 400 ft of shore line. Built in the 1790's, this beautiful stone home has been lovingly renovated over the years in keeping with the original antique style. Just driving down the long winding driveway you will feel the tranquility of this private estate. The home was built to last with 3 feet thick stone walls and foundation. Several extensions have been added to the house over the years. The largest 3 level extension includes a spacious dining room that can seat 14 people comfortably, with fireplace. As well there is a Master bedroom with bathroom ensuite, large closets and second floor laundry room. Also part of the addition is a full height basement with outdoor entrance, perfect for home office. The most recent addition was an elegant sunken living room with wall to wall windows overlooking the lake. The kitchen was remodeled and enlarged in 1996 as well as the addition of a main floor powder room. The third floor bedroom was remodeled and insulated in 2010. Heat pump 2009 Many rooms still have the original wide pine board flooring. Many fireplaces can be found throughout the home An oversized 2 car garage was also added in recent years, with plenty of room for all your toys! Beautifully landscaped gardens surround the home with a forest of trees towards the road for privacy. Truly a piece of history this beautiful home is warm and inviting -- a visit is a must!

They don't mention the love - but it's there - in every single photo - let me know if you feel it too.................

Before I go any further - I also want to mention that there was a brief moment when I considered stopping this series - I thought perhaps it was " done " after more than a year of doing it each week - however - I can't count how many times one these homes has been featured at Kim's ( Savvy Southern Style ) in the top viewed category.............so I suppose people aren't tired of it yet.
Thanks so much Kim - I am honored - each and every time and extremely grateful for the traffic that comes through your blog!!!  If there is any ( almost impossible ) chance that you don't know Kim's blog - head on over - you're in for a major Home Decor Treat...............

1,295,000
4 bedrooms - 2 baths
Year built - 1792
Realtors - Tania & Janet Ellerbeck

I can only imagine what a joy it must be for these ladies to show this home
Grab your coffee - have a seat - bet you can't look at this home only once!!!

And just a side note ( and I'm sure I'm repeating myself here but...................)
We were in England once visiting John's grand daughter - and I was marvelling at the home with her Mom -
It's soooo old and gorgeous - I gushed
To which the Mother replied - very honestly - " It's not that old really - it's 250 years or so "
(this was in Yorkshire where it's not uncommon to find homes that have been around for 400 years, and up)
And then she added - " I suppose you don't have old homes like that in North America ?"
To which I quickly replied - " Of course  we do - they're called Tee Pees "

Now I know of course there are older homes scattered here and there - but not like Europe - so I really was over the top thrilled to find this for you
So...............without further delay :)

This is an Add - On - isn't it brilliant how they kept the outer stone wall in here - AND the window?
LOVE LOVE LOVE this!

I'm not going to show a second home this week - really - sometimes these homes have to stand on their own but what I WILL show  you is an apartment in the city - a pied a terre - just in case 45 minutes is a little too long to travel when you want to come to town for a couple of days :)

1200 dollars a month will get you this gem of a 1 bedroom - in the heart of the city - apartment

And if that's not the best of both worlds than I don't know what is!!!

Have yourselves a beautiful Hump Day everyone -
15 days left for the big move....................

Much love,

  1. What a beautiful home. Love the house and the space outside. My house is a cottage compared with that one. (hope you understand my bad english). I had to laugh over that story in England. You sure have a answer, ha, ha.

Have a great day, dear Suzan

  3. Oh the house is gorgeous!! You think North America has no old homes come to Australia, the old farm houses get burnt in the bush fires and the city places were mostly torn down for apartments.

  7. Suzan this home is gorgeous. The stone walls and that view oh my!! The only thing I would change up in that house is the dining room wall color! Not a fan but the rest of the house is move in ready and so beautiful. Love the little apartment too. What a cute place.

  8. Oh, WOW! That is my kind of house. Stunning!!!! And those views...I'd live in that garage just to have that property. The apartment is great, and seems like a pretty good price in the heart of the city!

  9. I'll be sure to rent that apartment when I come to visit for a few days. LOL

Love that first home. So gorgeous, all except for the knotty pine car siding. Paint it for me, Suzan, and I'm putting money down.

  11. I love all of that stone, and I saw so many pieces in that house I would love to paint. Do you think if I offered to paint their furniture, clean, or cook they would let me live there.

  12. If you were living how you were meant to, you would own both the stone house and the city apartment. And of course, you Paris apartment.

  13. In the first one I love the idea of a fireplace in the dining room. How cozy!
In the second one I like the step downs from the kitchen, but I can totally see me busting my butt on it at some point.

  15. As the Barenaked Ladies would say: If I had a million dollars, I'd buy me a house!! And this would be it! Just gorgeous in every aspect. Darn.

  16. Hi Suzan!!!!

I can't even find the words of how much I LOVE the house!!!

You know how much I love history and if I could my only answer to if I liked the
house, it would be, 'I'm getting out my cheque book and please can I have all the
furniture as well??' There isn't anything wrong with this gorgeous stone house!!

The history those original walls have seen must be fantastic!!! Keeping the stone wall when they added the addition is brilliant!!! To be right on the water and having the beautiful stone patios to sit and watch the sun come up or down would be amazing!!!

You should be given an award for best description and presentation!!!!!!!

Thank you for letting me get lost, wondering as I looked at each room how it would have
been back in history!!! How I absolutely love these house!!

OK...The apartment is gorgeous for having just 1 bedroom. I would love to have it just so that I had a place to stay when I came to visit you and of course my relatives:)

I also want you to know how much I appreciate you for your beautiful, wonderful, bubbly personality!!!

  17. The first house is so warm and inviting, yet extremely neat and tidy. Wish I could manage that combination. The lake scene is just gorgeous!

    1. I suppose it doesn't look like that all the time - those are staged photos for selling purposes ( at least I hope so - or I'm sadly lacking in that department lol )

  19. I adore that house! I'm simply mad for stone walls. I want to steal that island right out of the kitchen. So cool. Gorgeous landscaping, too.

  20. Oh Suzan, this is a wonderful home with all that stone on the inside. The outside is so quaint too. I could live here with no problem, well except we would have to leave NJ and I am a Jersey girl through and through!!!

  21. You won't be surprised that I love the stone walls in the first house, but what really would make me move in is the lake view!

  23. Gorgeous! I couldn't live in that second house...I would trip down the stairs into that sunken living room and spill my wine everywhere.
