Magpie personified?

n magpie [ˈmӕgpai] a black-and-white bird of the crow family, known for its habit of collecting shiny objects.

magpie - an obnoxious and foolish and loquacious talker
speakertalkerverbaliserverbalizerutterer - someone who expresses in language; someone who talks (especially someone who delivers a public speech or someone especially garrulous); "the speaker at commencement"; "an utterer of useful maxims"

magpie - someone who collects thing that have been discarded by others
a person who accumulates things and hides them away for future use

Am I a magpie?
Let's see

Do I collect shiny objects?  CHECK
Do I collect things that have been discarded by others?  CHECK
Am I LOQUACIOUS?
sorry have to look that up

lo·qua·cious

  [loh-kwey-shuhs]  Show IPA
adjective
1.
talking or tending to talk much or freely; talkative;chattering; babbling; garrulous: a loquacious dinner guest.
2.
characterized by excessive talk; wordy: easily the mostloquacious play of the season.

ok - so am I loquacious ?  double CHECK

am I foolish?  triple CHECK

but I can use a can of spray paint and make things sparkle and shiny
so I am one up on them -

A magpie's best friend

from this old rusted looking iron piece ( whose patina worked in
my kitchen for a long time )

to this

fireplace grid

and Sammy the Squirrel - my door stopper - an absolute necessity in a 100 year old flat -
he was brown and almost gave me a heart attack on a daily basis because he looked
dangerously like a rat perched in front of my bedroom door

hmmm -  ok that's a fail -
back to the drawing board with you Sammy

and these I made a while back - ( you can find the post HERE )

finally got painted

and I thought it would be a boring post - but he seems to never fail me lately -
and I'm starting to get a little worried that everyone will think I'm making this up because they are coming fast and furiously - but I am living these moments - and they are 100% true!

John is walking down the hallway going to bed and I'm sitting here typing away and ready to sign off and just in the knick of time....................  he gave me this:

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?
Suzan says - what now?
JOhn says - you painted the door stopper?
Suzan says - yes I painted it - but there was a reason for it
John walks into the office holding it in his hand and says -
" Which habitat exactly do silver squirrels come from?"
Suzan says - the same one where silver foxes reside, obviously
John says - you know Suzan - we're going to have to draw the line here at some point - I mean now you're just being ridiculous with the paint
Suzan says - Pls don't speak to me like I'm a child - there's a very good reason for this -  I did it because it frightened me every night.............
John says - the door stopper was frightening you?
Suzan says - yes - it terrified me actually - it looked like a rat
John says - I've never seen a rat with a squirrel's tail in my life
Suzan says - don't talk foolish John - the tail goes on the other side of the door
John says - well it should scare you even more now then - because now it looks like the bloody ghost of a squirrel...........
Suzan says - well it didn't turn out as cute as I thought it would
John says - guess you won't be blogging about it then
Suzan says - Good night John
John says - Good night Suzan

Suzan yells out - put Sammy back in front of the door please

John says " she's given it a name - I don't believe this "

XOXOXO

Transfer Schmansfer

Here's my first feeble attempt at transferring an image - and I say feeble because it took me far too long to do this - and keep in mind the lettering is stencilled - I ONLY TRANSFERRED THE LAUREL WREATH LOL - and it took me like forEVAH

The stencilled lettering is the same as the one on my butcher block island -

I'm really not sure how I feel about it - looks a little blah, right? Missing something-something?

Especially when you see this from Kristi

http://4theloveofwood.blogspot.ca/2012/01/articles-de-paris-french-dressing-chest.html
if you click on the above she gives a fantastic tutorial on transferring images on to furniture -
and makes it sound easy - so take a look at her dresser one last time - the details on that image are amazing

and then my itsy bitsy laurel wreath again

I need practice - and as much as I love doing what I do, I am not, alas, a very patient person - in fact I have very little patience period - I get an idea in my head and I want to get it there pronto - ( that's why I always take photos before my furniture is completely finished - always - I can't wait for the paint to dry ) and this process takes patience, believe me.

I can't think of a single thing I do leisurely really - I whip through the house cleaning - I prepare my meals quickly - I paint quickly - I even read an entire book in a ridiculously fast amount of time. When we go for walks - I don't know how to "stroll".  I've mastered multi tasking down to a complete art and don't even understand the concept of stopping to smell the roses.  I can't  "lay" in the bathtub and absorb that luxury - I jump in while the water is running and am basically ready to jump out once it's filled.  I'm wrapping a towel around me while bending down to get the Vim out to clean the tub.
And though I was always in a hurry - menopause seems to take all your vices and magnify them ( not your virtues unfortunately - they seem to diminish during this process ) so I'm like some sort of manic mama -
And really, aren't you supposed to slow down as you age?

For me?  I think I'm best to stick to free hand and stencilling for now, lol
Unless I can figure out a way to transfer the image with one hand - and wax or paint another piece with the other...............................

Both images are from the incredible  GRAPHICS FAIRY - where there are tons and tons of free transferable images................

Paint colors used ASCP - Paris Grey - and Pure White

Suzan
