Makeover fit for a princess ?

Well I told you the story of this little number...............it sat at the store for over a year - generated all kinds of interest - and nada -
It never sold -
I've had so much on my plate that I just left it there thinking that maybe someday......................
And then I had to bite the bullet - admit defeat - and start all over again.

The GOOD thing is that I had a year in between ( if I HAVE to look for the positive in a negative situation lol) so I was as excited to get my hands onto this piece as if I'd just bought it

I know it's very busy - ( now I know it's far too busy ) but I SO saw this in a little girls room -
Anyways................

I went with ASCP Duck Egg Blue

The top drawers already had the pretty oval molding  on the edges of them - I added the " v " shaped molding - by putting 2 appliques on an angle each ( and touching each other on the bottom )  to form the V because there was a little bit of damage to the veneer - and there was no way I wanted to lose or damage that oval molding.  I think they look like they were there forever...............

Do you want to see one of my ingenious inventions up close?
Furniture Slippers!!!
I use the top of paint tins inverted for drips - and I fold 3 or 4 scott towels and place them underneath the lids so that the floors won't get scratched - and I can slide the furniture around with ease...........

I chose to paint the surface white - because this time I was going for a clean look -
And I love the juxtaposition ( I also love the word juxtaposition btw ) of solid white against a color

I left the interiors of the drawers the same as the first time I did them -

This is how they looked when I originally bought the dresser

and some mac tac paper graces the bottom 2 drawers

actually now that I look at them I think I should paint the 2 interior slats of wood Duck Egg blue as well

The 2 diamond shaped appliques were placed there because the keyholes didn't look very nice at all
they had some extensive damage to them

I spray painted the handles a very light silver - to tie in with the glass knobs on the top

I was going to dark wax it - but I think I'm going to look at this for a day or 2 before I do it
I'm really not sure on this piece

Stay tuned - on Thursday I'll show you how I turned this  mirror
( which I bought on it's own a lonnng time ago )

into her Crown
( and you thought she only had slippers? )

Have a great Tuesday all!

Stuck in the middle with you......................

Candy boxes - Lindsay  found the above at the dollar store - each plate ( 200 of them ) will hold one ( filled with mints ).
I think they were 8 for a dollar - which is amazing because Michaels were charging 10.00 for 10 plain white boxes................which I would have bought because I had no idea that the dollar store had a wedding section!!!
AND they're pretty traditional - ( shhh - I did NOT use that word in front of Lindsay - because I was too afraid she'd change her mind - " Traditional " has become verboden as you know )

If you haven't read about my daughters " wild " wedding - you can find it HERE

Lindsay says - I only have a couple of things to figure out and we're all done for the wedding
Mom says - I can't tell you how proud I am of you - and how much you've done for your wedding
( which is basically everything really )
Mom says - What do you have to figure out honey?
Lindsay - Well it's to do with songs.
Mom says - I'm really good with finding appropriate songs
Mom says - I do it all the time on the blog
Lindsay says - Well we've already picked the song we want to introduce the wedding party to at the reception
Mom says - Oohhhh - which one is it?  Can't wait!!!
Lindsay says - Not sure if you'll know it Mom - it's called " Stuck in the middle with you "
Lindsay says - We want to walk in last with you guys and Tony's parents on either side of us
Lindsay says - Have to figure out which of you guys are the Clowns and which are the Jokers.............

And if you think I'm joking folks........................
Let me tell you I AM NOT.....................

Please let me me be the joker - Oh God - please let me be the joker - I don't want to be a clown at
my daughters wedding....................

I've ordered a big bottle of tranquelizers - that and the wine should get me through this day.

And the strangest thing is - that was once one of my favorite songs - when it meant I WAS THE ONE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF CLOWNS AND JOKERS

Life is so cyclical isn't it?

In the meantime -

I agonized over finding the perfect hat - and finally chose this - terrified I'll look like a witch

when maybe something like this would have been more fitting?

source

( I'm so scared in case I'll fall off my chair and I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs )

By the way, my beautiful WILD CHILD chose the most gorgeous TRADITIONAL dress - go figure.

I'm trying to make some sense of it all
But I can see that it makes no sense at all........................
Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right
Here I am
Stuck in the middle with you

2 more weeks..........................

It's so hard to keep the smile from my face
Losing control, I'm all over the place
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor?
Cause I don't think that I can take anymore...................

Have as great a Monday as  you possibly can,
I have to find a couple of squirting flowers to stick on my witch hat I guess :)

Much love,
Suzan - ( the JOKER .............do you hear me?  I AM NOT A CLOWN )

Today's song is courtesy of Lindsay and Tony LOL
