Candy boxes - Lindsay found the above at the dollar store - each plate ( 200 of them ) will hold one ( filled with mints ).
I think they were 8 for a dollar - which is amazing because Michaels were charging 10.00 for 10 plain white boxes................which I would have bought because I had no idea that the dollar store had a wedding section!!!
AND they're pretty traditional - ( shhh - I did NOT use that word in front of Lindsay - because I was too afraid she'd change her mind - " Traditional " has become verboden as you know )

If you haven't read about my daughters " wild " wedding - you can find it HERE
Mom says - I can't tell you how proud I am of you - and how much you've done for your wedding
( which is basically everything really )
Mom says - What do you have to figure out honey?
Lindsay - Well it's to do with songs.
Lindsay - Well it's to do with songs.
Mom says - I'm really good with finding appropriate songs
Mom says - I do it all the time on the blog
Lindsay says - Well we've already picked the song we want to introduce the wedding party to at the reception
Mom says - Oohhhh - which one is it? Can't wait!!!
Lindsay says - Not sure if you'll know it Mom - it's called " Stuck in the middle with you "
Lindsay says - We want to walk in last with you guys and Tony's parents on either side of us
Lindsay says - Have to figure out which of you guys are the Clowns and which are the Jokers.............
And if you think I'm joking folks........................
Let me tell you I AM NOT.....................
Please let me me be the joker - Oh God - please let me be the joker - I don't want to be a clown at
my daughters wedding....................
I've ordered a big bottle of tranquelizers - that and the wine should get me through this day.
And the strangest thing is - that was once one of my favorite songs - when it meant I WAS THE ONE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF CLOWNS AND JOKERS
Life is so cyclical isn't it?
In the meantime -
I agonized over finding the perfect hat - and finally chose this - terrified I'll look like a witch
when maybe something like this would have been more fitting?

( I'm so scared in case I'll fall off my chair and I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs )
By the way, my beautiful WILD CHILD chose the most gorgeous TRADITIONAL dress - go figure.
I'm trying to make some sense of it all
But I can see that it makes no sense at all........................
Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right
Here I am
Stuck in the middle with you
I'm trying to make some sense of it all
But I can see that it makes no sense at all........................
Clowns to the left of me
Jokers to the right
Here I am
Stuck in the middle with you
2 more weeks..........................
It's so hard to keep the smile from my face
Losing control, I'm all over the place
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor?
Cause I don't think that I can take anymore...................
Have as great a Monday as you possibly can,
I have to find a couple of squirting flowers to stick on my witch hat I guess :)
Much love,
Suzan - ( the JOKER .............do you hear me? I AM NOT A CLOWN )
Today's song is courtesy of Lindsay and Tony LOL

hahaha, Oh that's awesome. The other night our wedding song (Teardrop by Massive Attack, very non traditional) was used as the music to a news story on a serial murderer/rapist) ummm yeah I was disturbed!
ReplyDeleteLove the boxes so cute.I wish we had a Micheals over here. And Suzan you will be the best looking mother of the bride. -love dee x
ReplyDeleteThose boxes are sweet. Can't wait to see the actual wedding photos- you will show us won't you! I am a sucker for weddings!
ReplyDeleteAren't they the cutest thing Deanne?
DeleteMaybe I'll have a video to post!!!!!!!!
( if I'm not making a fool of myself that is )
XXX
Oh, please tell me that your daughter will allow you to share some of the wedding with us! I want to see you in that fabulous hat. And your daughter's dress! Like Deanne above, I love weddings.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzan,
ReplyDeleteHaven't visited in a while, to darn busy! What a wonderful time this is for you and your family! Stressful, I'm sure, but so great! I'm sure you and your daughter will look lovely on the day.
Hugs,
Nicole
xx
Hahahaha... Well, I think you should be the joker! You've got my vote for that. I love that your daughter has such unique, eclectic taste, and walks to the beat of her own drum.
ReplyDeleteJust catching up . . You have the best attitude! All of this sounds so exciting! And those boxes are fabulous! Really doesn't look like they're from the DS. Best wishes to your daughter, you and family!
ReplyDeleteThanks for staring my day off with a great laugh :)
ReplyDeleteNow it's my turn to LMAO!!!
ReplyDeleteI know through all the stress of planning a wedding, you must be having a ball! You're keeping us smiling...and laughing...that's for sure!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
I love those boxes and I love a bargain too. Enjoy the planning!
ReplyDeleteThey look awesome, I'm sure they will be a hit! You will look gorgeous... can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Victoria!!!

Great find on the mint boxes! It pays to shop around. BTW, the hat is perfect. Witches hats are pointy, don't you remember the Wizard of Oz???
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute find. I think you will be the joker!?!?!?! No clown?!?!? But there is nothing wrong with being a clown. Look how many clowns put smiles on people's faces. All those little boys and girls getting excited when there is a clown at a party. Just sayin?!?! You do keep us all laughing and entertained!! When I think of the "joker" I think of batman :(. Maybe you will be the clown. Okay I will stop talking. Either or it will be a compliment because you could be both for all the good reasons. Xxx

All I can say is-there'd better be LOTS of wedding pictures to post. Get someone to be in charge of your camera so you can concentrate on the fun! And make lots of memories.♥♫
ReplyDeleteVery cute party boxes! And the rest is hilarious! It's such fun to create a wedding that truly reflects your personality. So much more fun than the "traditional" wedding! Enjoy every moment of it! And you're a very wise "mother of the bride"!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot. I'd snort the tranquilizers because that gets them going quicker :)
ReplyDeleteR
Lets see if I can remember the words to another old song...Bozo Bozo always laughs never frowns, Bozo, Bozo, Boooozoooo the clown.
ReplyDeleteBliss
LOL! I can't wait to see your daughters dress! And all the other details - you will share after the wedding won't you?!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those boxes, they are so pretty and the price, amazing! I am so excited for you and the whole family, it should turn out great and be lots of fun! Can't wait to see pictures and hear you speak about it, as only you could do.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
send in the clowns lol oh i cant wait to hear all about it
ReplyDeleteNothing like a little "Stealers Wheel" to get the wedding party going!!
ReplyDeleteI think you'll make a lovely 'Joker', as long as you don't get made-up like Heath Ledger!!
LMHO Bobbie!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteWouldn't that be the funniest thing - If I showed up like the joker ( not Heath though - more like the 60's version of the show lol )
XOX
I'm not sure that within the context of this song there is much difference between a joker and a clown. Don't you think it's funny how kids think that they are the only ones to know songs? This wedding is going to be amazing. Don't you worry about a tha-a-a-a-ng (is that how you write out song words?)
ReplyDeleteSuzan, I really do feel for you. My daughter just got married in April, after a 1 1/2 year engagement (and being together for 12 years before that!). She kept saying she didn't want a "traditional" wedding. I envisioned all sorts of crazy things, but when it came right down to it, her wedding was actually pretty traditional... a lovely rustic, country chic outdoors wedding... boots, duck calls and all! The only thing that wasn't really "traditional" was the bridal music. Her attendants walked in to Israel Kamakawiwo-ole's "Somewhere over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" medley. And my daughter walked down the aisle on her proud daddy's arm to "At Last" by Etta James. (I cried.) After they were married, they walked out to James Brown's "I Feel Good." (I was still crying.)
ReplyDeleteIt was a crazy but wonderful time... and I did survive it (although I wasn't always sure I would). Course my daughter didn't make me be a clown or a joker.... Haha! (I'm rooting for you that you'll end up a joker! No self-respecting MOB should ever be a CLOWN!) On a serious note, you will adore being the MOB. It's just such a special feeling.
Best of luck to you.... your daughter will be a beautiful bride... you'll be a beautiful Mother of the Bride... and you'll have such wonderful memories forever!
BTW, thanks so much for putting that song in my head! I've been singing it for the last couple of hours.... and I only know that one phrase! It isn't a pretty thing to hear!
hahahaha! Love that song... and those boxes are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it will be fun, but different. I like the plates.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Are children are the clowns! At least they can laugh at us and with us!
ReplyDeleteWhat cute decorations. Sounds like one of those things where you have to roll with it, (baby). Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating their wedding!
ReplyDeleteLiz
Seriously, your daughter seems as crazy as you are (I'm sure John says the same thing). It must be fun to see so much of you in her... Even if she expresses her creativity in a slightly different manner, just to keep you on your toes.
ReplyDeleteAbout the hat, I thought "Audrey Hepburn" and "Braekfast at Tiffany's" the second I saw it. All you need is a croissant in your hand rather than flowers. I'm sure you daughter would love guests to have croissants rather than flowers at her wedding, it's untraditional and yummy!
This post has me giggling out loud. I love the hat you selected. Not witchy at all! It's very elegant and sophisticated. Sounds like you and your daughter are having fun with the process. That's a good thing! '-)
ReplyDeleteAnd those $ store boxes are adorable.
Buwahahahahahahahah! I'm already crazy about your daughter, it's entirely obvious that she has a great sense of humor. :)
ReplyDeleteclowns to the left me, jokers to the right...
sing it with me, Suzan. buwhahahahaha
I am just catching up on your blog for the week and I am going backwards so first I had the song two of things belong together....and now stuck in the middle with you...... who needs a playlist. I just have to read your blog and I am good to have music in my head for HOURS...LOL The wedding will be beautiful ..... I think that I would choose the clown (Carol Burnett was a wonderful clown in the Red Skelton mode ) because the batman movies make the JOKER kinda creepy.... just saying.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute post! My dollar store doesn't have anything like those candy boxes! You must, must post pictures and commentary after the wedding!!!
