Surrounded by books!!!

I LOVE them - everything about them and can't imagine living anywhere where I didn't have an abundance of them at my fingertips..............they're everywhere in our home - the Kitchen - night tables - piled on the floor beside my bed - on coffee tables - everywhere!

Which is why I saw the below makeover as a desk - with book storage ( while John saw it as a bar HERE )

For now I have our books on a wall off the living room - in cheap Ikea bookcases - me - a furniture painter with Ikea bookcases - oh the shame of it all!!!  I think this is Caroline's Piorra Maison favorite part of my house though - Ikea book shelves or not -
" it's a WALL of books Suzan - I love it "
She gets it - she really really gets it LOL

they're in the dining room

I use them to give height

and leave favorites laying around so that I can read them over and over again - and although I obviously spend time " staging " for photos - I didn't this time - this was simply walking around the house snapping photos of books

I've just started this one again - probably the 20th time I've read it - it NEVER gets old

Read this again last month - AND watched the movie - double dose!!!

I've packed away my " kitchen books " but this one stays on a shelf

I.
LOVE.
BOOKS.

Sometimes I even paint them HERE

And so when I dream of home decor - these are things I dream about...................

Dreams are good.
Books are better...................

Have a wonderful Saturday all - I'm washing all the windows - the FOR SALE sign goes up on Monday so this weekend is frantic!!!
( does anyone else get mixed up over the words Sale and Sell - I'm good with There - Their - and They're - but sell and sale always mess me up - you'd think with all the reading I do it would be a cinch lol )
I believe ( I before E except after C ) I'd better practice that!!!  ( oh and practice is another one )

But for now I'm going to take an hour out of my day and read!!!

If you'd like to read a post on my love of books as a little girl and the great lengths I went to - you can find it HERE

P.S.  Sometimes I reread my posts and all I can see are the rambling words of a mad woman LMHO
This would be one of those times.

Much love,

Stop the presses - we have a visitor today !!!

Good morning everyone!!!

We have a visitor today :)
Kirby from KIRB APPEAL walked over this morning ( from the States to Canada - quite the walk )
Kirby and her husband live in a heritage home that has a name BRANDYWINE - which is swoon worthy!
She also does a wonderful series on Fridays call " WOMEN WHO BLOG " - where she interviews blogger it's a great series which I wish I would have thought of first lol................
Kirby's also a Teacher - and I would have loved her to have been one of my teachers - lucky students :)
Just so you know who's guest posting I've included this video she made - she doesn't know I'm showing this but I find it hysterical so in it goes !!!

Take it away Kirby!!!

Hi!  (Or should I say "Bonjour?")  I'm Kirby and I blog over at Kirb Appeal, where I mostly act silly. But today...for one day only...I am hanging out with Suzan here at Simply Vintageous.  Many thanks to Suzan for having me visit--she is so much fun!   Sept 2013 015

Suzan and I have lots in common--we have grown kids, and a husband (not the same one), and we speak French, and we both paint furniture. But one of the PRIMARY things we have in common is that we LOVE vintage and wish we could have our own space to sell.

Sept 2013 020

Sept 2013 019 Last week, I went to a great open house at a very cute shop and home called Spade and Broom.  (Suzan would have loved it!)  It is owned by a cute young couple, and Kristen, the owner, has given the shop (located in 3 rooms of the house) such a great vibe that you can't help but want to buy one of everything! (Except maybe the skull.  I’m of the belief that one skull is probably enough.)    Sept 2013 030

One of the coolest things of the day was that Kristen had the whole house open, including the living quarters.  This AWESOME couch was in the kitchen, which was vintage and fun and yet practical.  (Very Suzan, don’t you think?)  Sept 2013 026  The yard was set up to accommodate some tents for vendors (yum---cake pops!) and there were beautiful touches everywhere. I could imagine Suzan's painted furniture and my painted furniture mingling in the side yard while we went to get some of the delicious tea being served under the arbor.  We would have pretended to be elegant, even though in reality, we might have been snorting the tea through our noses.  Because that’s just how we roll.  Sept 2013 010

I am glad that Suzan gave me a chance to stop in and share Spade and Broom with you!  I hope that you will visit me at Kirb Appeal some time!  You can also follow my crazy antics (like snorting tea or, more frequently, wine, through my nose) on Facebook.

Thanks for dropping in Kirby - it was wonderful having you come by -
Please hop over to her place and say " hello " at
KIRB APPEAL
And while you're there - snoop around will ya?
I'm missing some silver - ( you just can't trust anyone anymore )

Have a wonderful weekend all!!!

AND WE HAVE A WINNER FOR JULIES SIGN

And that would be Ginger from Savannah Granny!!!
Congratulations Ginger - drop me a line with your details!!!
P.S.  I have to apologize for my lack of visits and replies this week - it was frantic here getting the house ready for sell - but we're almost there - the sign goes up Monday evening - wish me luck - I really need every last ounce of it that I can get :)

Much love,
