Good morning everyone!!!
We have a visitor today :)
Kirby from KIRB APPEAL walked over this morning ( from the States to Canada - quite the walk )
Kirby and her husband live in a heritage home that has a name BRANDYWINE - which is swoon worthy!
She also does a wonderful series on Fridays call " WOMEN WHO BLOG " - where she interviews blogger it's a great series which I wish I would have thought of first lol................
Kirby's also a Teacher - and I would have loved her to have been one of my teachers - lucky students :)
Just so you know who's guest posting I've included this video she made - she doesn't know I'm showing this but I find it hysterical so in it goes !!!
Take it away Kirby!!!
Hi! (Or should I say "Bonjour?") I'm Kirby and I blog over at Kirb Appeal, where I mostly act silly. But today...for one day only...I am hanging out with Suzan here at Simply Vintageous. Many thanks to Suzan for having me visit--she is so much fun!
Suzan and I have lots in common--we have grown kids, and a husband (not the same one), and we speak French, and we both paint furniture. But one of the PRIMARY things we have in common is that we LOVE vintage and wish we could have our own space to sell.
Last week, I went to a great open house at a very cute shop and home called Spade and Broom. (Suzan would have loved it!) It is owned by a cute young couple, and Kristen, the owner, has given the shop (located in 3 rooms of the house) such a great vibe that you can't help but want to buy one of everything! (Except maybe the skull. I’m of the belief that one skull is probably enough.)
One of the coolest things of the day was that Kristen had the whole house open, including the living quarters. This AWESOME couch was in the kitchen, which was vintage and fun and yet practical. (Very Suzan, don’t you think?) The yard was set up to accommodate some tents for vendors (yum---cake pops!) and there were beautiful touches everywhere. I could imagine Suzan's painted furniture and my painted furniture mingling in the side yard while we went to get some of the delicious tea being served under the arbor. We would have pretended to be elegant, even though in reality, we might have been snorting the tea through our noses. Because that’s just how we roll.
I am glad that Suzan gave me a chance to stop in and share Spade and Broom with you! I hope that you will visit me at Kirb Appeal some time! You can also follow my crazy antics (like snorting tea or, more frequently, wine, through my nose) on Facebook.
Thanks for dropping in Kirby - it was wonderful having you come by -
Please hop over to her place and say " hello " at
KIRB APPEAL
And while you're there - snoop around will ya?
I'm missing some silver - ( you just can't trust anyone anymore )
Have a wonderful weekend all!!!
AND WE HAVE A WINNER FOR JULIES SIGN
44
And that would be Ginger from Savannah Granny!!!
Congratulations Ginger - drop me a line with your details!!!
P.S. I have to apologize for my lack of visits and replies this week - it was frantic here getting the house ready for sell - but we're almost there - the sign goes up Monday evening - wish me luck - I really need every last ounce of it that I can get :)
Much love,
Oh I love the couch! I live Kirby too, I would kill for some vintage stuff but I think I need to wait until I too have grown children. Spade and broom looks like a fun place to visit.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mel! And thanks for the interview at my place!
DeleteWhat a great guest post Kirby shared! I'd also love to be able to check out more of The Spade & Broom shop...could use some tips & inspiration for my future shop & theirs looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beth! I share shop ideas about 3 times a year!
DeleteShe's a hoot! That video is hillarious! I'd love to have a shop too...one day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry!
DeleteWhat a lovely shop and home! I'm not into skulls either. Have a great weekend Suzan!
ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful shop--I think the skulls are seasonal.
DeleteI LOVE THAT SETTEE!
ReplyDeleteI only hope that mine looks half as good by the time I'm finished with it!
that would be cool I think to have a shop in part of my house...
however that would probably only mean one thing, "I'm dead and my kids are selling off my junk!"
Love to read Kirby---she's a hoot!
Pat
Thanks so much, Pat! The settee is a great addition to the living room.
DeleteThat shop looks like such a fun place to check out! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteOh man.....I want, need, crave that sofa! Couldn't get the video to play but I'm on my iPAD....I'll check it out later! Looks like Kirby had some fun visiting the Spade andBroom ....what a great place!!
ReplyDeleteWe need a shop, Lorraine. We'll call it the French Hen.
DeleteOh that video is hilarious! Love it! Kirby is just fabulous!! What a great shop. I'd love to just have a little corner of it, and I'd be happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tuula!
DeleteThat video, was my very first introduction to Kirby..still makes me laugh! Spade and Broom looks like a very cool place! I'm not surprised your missing silverware...she's probably sending it to Tuula to make chimes out of!! That's what I'd do!
ReplyDeleteOh, lawd. I'm surprised you ever came back to the blog, Danni!
DeleteKirby is hysterically funny - I would have loved her as a teacher. Funny thing, when I first began reading her blog, for some reason, I thought she was Canadian. I was surprised to discover she was not.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am half Canadian. So you were half right.
DeleteLooks like a wonderful shop. Kirby is always so entertaining and fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maggie!
DeleteWhat fun! I'll be stopping in at Kirb Appeal. Also so glad to hear you don't share the same husband. John has enough trouble with one of you. LOL Have a great weekend, Suzan!♥
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
DeleteHey Suzan, I've been MIA but I'm here, been crazy busy. Kirby's a hoot, I see why y'all get along :) I'll check her site out. Good weekend to ya - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin
ReplyDeleteNo one would put Suzan and I in a room together--there would be some form of spontaneous combustion.
DeleteI want a cake pop and I want to eat it pretending to be elegant. With you guys. That store is very quaint. I was surprised to see my black cat lounging on the couch. She always gets to go do fun things because she doesn't have a job.
ReplyDeleteDarn cats! They have all the fun!
DeleteI had written the cutest and most thoughtful comment. I hit publish and it disappeared. I am not sure if I can be eloquent twice in one day. Here goes!
ReplyDeleteI loved visiting with you and Kirby today. That solid white sofa is awesome. I would put that in my purse and exit really fast. If Kirby is as funny and talented as you she certainly has my attention. I am heading over to her house. Just as soon as I email you my address. Wheeeee! I won that totally neat Eiffel Tour plaque. Is plaque a French word?
Hmmm, you and Kirby will know!
Thanks so much for the lovely plaque,
xoGinger
Congratulations, Ginger!
DeleteWhat a fun post! That looks like such a great place to visit. Does the cat come with the couch? That would do it for me :)
ReplyDeleteKirby is tons of fun, I'll stop by her place :) Now,everything in that shop is cute, even the name ;) Enjoy your weekend Suzan!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cristina!
DeleteLooks like Kirby knows a good thing when she see it.....that store is so cute.
ReplyDeleteWho knew Kirby was SOOOO funky!! :P
ReplyDelete-andi
I never tire of that dancing machine! Kirby is hysterical! If you don't know her...get over there and introduce yourself!
ReplyDeleteLove this shop, Kirby. Please go back and buy me the couch...w/o the kitty. I'm allergic.
Suze, I'd check in with Tuula, too...Danni has it right. Kirby definitely sent it to Tuula for chimes. You'd better check your larger silver pieces, too. You know that Tuula will make chimes out of anything!
xo, T.
Wow what a great shop with so many goodies. I so LOVE that couch!!! I hope everything went well with the realtor. I know that can be daunting. Love Kirby, great personality. I will stop over, and drinking the tea through the nose doesn't sound as if it would be very comfortable, LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Thanks, Cynthia--and the tea would be coming out our nose. Because we laugh too much!
DeleteHi Suzan!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved the video!!! I could see You and Kirby redoing and releasing a video of this song. Run DMC style!!
Love the idea of having rooms in a home as a shop. So you!!!
Thanks for introducing Kirby!!!
Have a great weekend Ladies!!!!
Pam
xox
Pam--we could totally rock it out. I see about 900,00- hits on youtube.
DeleteKirby is my kind of girl! Crazy as a bed bug!
ReplyDeleteThat pretty much sums me up, Maureen.
DeleteLove the dance moves Kirby has and that she is wearing a Rochester Red Wings T-shirt! That is my neck of the woods. We go to the games every summer. Visited her blog and now following her because she is crazy and she loves vintage....what other reasons can there possibly be? Thanks for introducing her to us!
ReplyDeleteLol what an awesome video! I didn't know Kirby was such a rock star! And it looks like she's got lots more, I'll have to head over and check out her channel.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of an amazing home & shop! I'd love to go shopping there, a tad too far though.
Debbie :)
Rock star? I think my husband would describe it as "clinically insane", Debbie.
DeleteLOL :)
DeleteOh that looks like my kind of shopping. I enjoyed the tour. Thanks for sharing this virtual shopping trip, Suzan and Kirby. Kirby has some moves! Fun video. laurie
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laurie!
DeleteBest Blogger video award goes to.......... Kirby Funky Music Appeal.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bliss--do I need to come up with an acceptance speech?
DeleteLOL....another funny blogger to follow! And she's a fellow teacher! I'm off to check out Kirb Appeal!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Vicky
Life On Willie Mae Lane
Thanks, Vicky! Teacher solidarity!
DeleteKirby, an excellent funky white boy impression. I do not think you could drink tea and dance like that without some snorting. I love the Spade and Broom - thanks for sharing. Now get back to painting.
ReplyDeleteHello Susan and Kirby, what a fantastic place - LOVE that couch - with the kitty :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the same - have three grown children and love changing things up and painting almost everything in sight! I had a fun visit,
Kathy
HI Suzan,
ReplyDeleteOh my Kirby is a riot!!!!! Love her what you see is what you get. Love that about her. She is not only a talented lady but fun. She makes you want to hang out with her. The Spade and Broom shop looks pretty amazing too. Thanks Kirby for sharing that with us.
Kris
Kirby is such a hoot- I have been following her (and laughing WITH her-not AT her) for a while now. I always come away from her blog with a smile-well, unless she is expounding on something dastardly! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWow....that girl can really groove!! I just finished signing up for email so I can follow! Anybody with moves like that has to be good!! Loved the tour, and that couch, gorgeous! Looking forward to getting to know you Kirby! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteThe couch is gorgeous, not as much as the cat on it, though!
ReplyDeleteVery entertaining. Suzan thanks for sharing another great blog. Kirby is a hoot and I'm guessing she is the teacher everyone hopes to have. Kids do so much better when learning is fun. Her post about Spade and Broom was a treat to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Kirby - she IS a hoot!!!
DeleteXOXO
What a fun post! I will go over and check out Kirby's blog.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the sofa!
Thank you for visiting the Lakehouse, Suzan.
