Bye bye................blackbird - Wall Decal

If you asked me, I'd tell you I'm not crazy about birds.

If you asked me why, I'd maybe admit to you that they scare me.

Always have -

I blame it on seeing " The Birds " at too young an age.

Or that on a night out once, my date brought me back to his parent's house and left me alone for 5 minutes while I watched an Amazon Parrot - HUGE - deftly take his clawed foot - open the cage door - and come towards me at an alarmingly fast pace ( walking - not flying )

Or that I once stepped outside my house - to see hundreds ( and that is not an exaggeration - hundreds and hundreds in fact ) of crows lined up on every possible wire - limb - roof top in the vicinity - silently staring at me ( or so it seemed )  It was an overcast day and the image has been tatooed on the back of my eyelids forever....................I later learned this is how they grieve when one has died.
A little too Edgar Allen Poe for my taste.

And some of you may remember my first experience with Grackles last Spring - a bird I'd never even heard of until we moved here - and of which I'm dreading their return - you can see the post on that HERE

Or Mr and Mrs Duck that came for a little dip in our filthy pool HERE

Which is why it's strange that I happen to love bird decor.

As in my pillows..............

Or other decorative items

The night light is from TJ Maxx - 4.99 - my daughter brought it back for me from Florida - love love love it

Anyway all this to try to explain to myself and to you - why I just ordered this......................

I know...............
I don't get it either.

Don't even have a clue where I'll put it - but I find it enchanting for some reason.

Have a wonderful Tuesday one and all

Much love,
Me

ITALIAN POUTINE !

Italian Poutine from Scratch

Most of you know that Poutine is Quebec's pride and joy in the food world, right?

Perfect gravy over fries with melted curd cheese - it's now world renowned ( or at the very least North American renowned )

This is a twist on that - also popular here in Montreal - Italian Poutine - for lovers of Italian food AND Poutine lol

It's as simple as can be and extremely delicious.

3 ingredients.

You're favorite meat sauce ( I always have home made batches of this in my freezer but store bought is fine if that happens to be your favorite )
Mozzarella cheese
Potatoes ( here again I make home made fries - but frozen are ok to use as well )
I only had a mozzarella mix ( cheddar ) on hand so I used that and it was great !

I deep fry the fries because I find them too dry in the oven for this dish

Once they're done, place them in a large bowl ( this is enough for 2 people )

and start adding your meat sauce a little at a time

and gently ( you don't want to tear the fries apart )  stir until the fries are completely covered and look like a bowl of pasta

Next you place a layer of fries in a aluminum ( and then you google that word  to make sure you're spelling it right because spell check tells you that you are not ! ) and a layer of cheese

and repeat

and place in a preheated oven set at 325 for 10 to 15 minutes

It's decadently delicious and the perfect treat/meal to have in the den watching a hockey game ( I haven't tested it for football or baseball yet but I think it would work ! )

You can't have it very often because it has approximately 1,459,000 calories - but OMG - every now and then 1,459,000 calories are soooo worth it ..................( and you can obviously make a smaller version )

Italian Poutine..................

For all of you who ever wondered what Heaven in a tin pan tasted like.
This would be it.....................

Have a wonderful day everyone !

Hugs,
Me
